Not correct. The premium is calculated as a % of the insured value, and can easily go below 50%. In the OP's case the premium was 7,700 Baht. Presuming that was all for the 3rd party, a new pickup will easily be around 20k.

What I describe is the way it works with Viriyah Insurance, and it looks like it's the same with OP's insurance company (Nawakij)

The way I understand OP's post, is that he pay two installments a year, each 7,700 Baht!?.

It may be something to do with mosquitoes lurking in the bowl. I don't bother and have been bitten regularly in uncomfortable places. Water is not an expense when you have your own supply.

Correct; and to flush out other possible hidden insects and animals. I always flush before at public toilets.

You'd have to wipe the disks after the backup before restoring for this to work.

I didn't know that. I always Format before Restore, but was not really aware, it made any difference.

PS! A lot of interesting replies about SSD's; but if you use those in external disk's, you have to much money!?

I'm about to get my extension today using an agent just for this year as a bit busy.

    Question

90 day is due on my official extension day......28th Sept....and a bit early to do that.

    I'd prefer to do myself.

If I use the online form (I'll look for it now but can anyone link me to it?) does it ask for any documents or copies of them to be  sent.

I am told I don't need a T M 30 for visa today.....just yellow Tabien bahn is enough, and also told that anyone who goes for one gets a 1600baht fine (short time is 800)......basically all long term farang here are due to pay 1600.

So whats required for online and postal applications?

    Thanks

When I had my retirement extension done 2 months ago by an agent, they told me to get a TM30 first. My wife did that and paid a fine of 1,600 Baht.

No papers are needed for 90 days online application.

    Hello,

I heard many good things about Doi Cha(a)ng coffee from Chiang Mai. Unfortunately it seems that there are two different Doi Chaang brands:

    http://www.lazada.co.th/doi-chaang-coffee-premium-500g-7155111.html

    http://www.lazada.co.th/doi-chang-professional-french-roast-4-1000g-331668.html

I would give the Doi Chang one a try first (for ~500 THB per kilo).

    What do you think?

I sometimes buy a pack of the first one. It tastes very good, but also cost 300 Baht for 250 gr.

I don't know the second one, but I'm not so much into dark roasted.

Thx for the reply, yes after more research I've decided on the m8s super plus 2016 model. It's lollipop and supports kodi. An only 2,380b with Lazada.  Do you know if streaming live football on kodi is good? As I've never used Xbmc or Kodi before.

Also what do u mean by the connection to the server updates always fails? Thanks again.

I only use Kodi for videos. I have filmon.tv for online television. It works fine , but I don't use it so much.

If I try to do a Online Update for the system, it will say Checking... and then after about 5 seconds write Check failed! and nothing more happens.

The box is running Lollipop 5.1.1 and everything works fine, so I don't really need an update.

I'm happy if it works fine for a year and then get a new box with Marshmallow.

  7. I don't know the Hmedia H8, but I am happy about my M8S+ (It has to be the plus model to get Lollipop).

To get more memory, just put a SD card in it. Attached USB sticks also works good, but tends to get very warm.

One negative thing: the connection to the server for OTA (Over The Air) firmware update always fails. I've had it for two months.

A seized up water pump does not always leak water. Had it on a Ford Ranger. No water loss. No leak. Stuck pump. Driving a car that overheats is a real bad idea.
Just saying do not drive it till problem is fixed.

When you start the cold engine does the temp. show low and how fast does it go up.

Swapping the thermostat is a good idea. Actually just take old one out and close it should also fix the overheating problem (as a test) but as its a cheap part just repace it

Good idea; try running it without thermostat.

    Not necessarily, it depends on the circumstances. The Immigration Act states;

Section 38 : The house – master , the owner or the possessor of the residence .

A TM30 should only be completed once for each residence.

After 10 years in the same residence it's unlikely you will be required to now supply a TM30.

We have lived in our house for 16 years; but still no mercy!.

The good news is, we only have to do it again, if I go abroad.

  10. There is a post office about 100 meters before Makro on Hang Dong road. It's not directly out to the road, but there is a sign.

I've had packages kept there; but if you have to pay import tax, you have to get it at the main post office.

How will I know if I have to pay import tax. I've never had a package shipped here, so I'm not sure what to expect...

Sorry; I pressed the Like button instead of the Reply button.

It will state the post office on the pink slip the postman drops off at your house (if you are not home). Its only in Thai, so you need a Thai to read it and even they have problems to figure it out. Else it just to go to one of the places (50/50 chance).

If you are home and have to pay import tax. the postman will not bring the package; but just give you the slip, and then you have to go to the main post office.

  12. My wife got hit with the maximum fine (1,600 Baht) today, when making the TM30 report (for the first time) here in Chiang Mai.

They had on record my last stay in a Hotel 2 months ago and that was correct. It was actually the only "real" Hotel, I stayed in, on my last Isan trip.

I should have followed my original plan: Stay one night at a Hotel here in CM; go party and the day after send the wife to do the TM30.

PS! They told my wife, she only has to make a new TM30, if I go abroad (and come back)!
