  1. Do you have to show the actual item purchased eg. laptop? I know you need the receipt with proper VAT annotation and get it stamped before entering Immigration, then go to VAT refund.

Review this website which is the Revenue Dept website talking VAT Refund: http://vrtweb.rd.go.th/index.php/en/component/vrt/main/1?layout=newslist

Just one snapshot of available info below.

The website does not say anything about, if it's allowed to use the item before leaving Thailand.

Maybe best to present the item in original box, so it looks unused.

  2. SooKee

I get whole roasted chickens at the Big C on the superhighway just down the road from Central Festival Mall. They cook them fresh every morning. Try to get there by noon or so because the do sell out occassionally.

I pick up a couple of them, debone them, and keep them sealed in the refrigerator. The meat keeps for a week with no problem.

If I remember correctly, the whole chicken is 118 baht but I could be mistaken.

    David

After reading your reply, I told my wife to buy one; and they are very good.

Tender, juicy and so much meat (for 118 Baht).

The wife complain; the chicken is to salty, but it's perfect for me.

  3. Never hear them,as I am asleep that time of night.

    regards Worgeordie

Similarly, I've been to Chiang Mai 7 or 8 times and never once heard or was bothered by jet noise.

The OP must live near the airport.

    Was that a choice?

No it was not a choice. Immigration chooses certain people upon entry and tells them where they must live and they can not choose another place. The unlucky ones must live near the airport, open air late night bars and crematoriums. Their 90 day reports, TM 28s and TM 30s are audited carefully.

That's a good one. Maybe they should do as in Riyadh. Build some falang ghetto's with high walls around and armed guards in the front!?.

  4. The best thing to do is look around in the area, where you live, for a house being renovated and talk with the people.

That's what we have done a couple of times.

You will not get the best people, so you have to keep an eye on them (all the time) to see if the job is done correctly.

The "big" companies are not interested in small projects.

  5. C.M.-Seoul-LAX on Korean Air. one of the best airlines i have ever flown. very comfortable, delicious Korean food, crew takes very good care of passengers. excellent service. layover in Seoul and they give you a small room to sleep a few hours, take a shower....all free and very clean and comfortable there.

My son used that route last year and was very happy with Korean Air.

Only problem was the long wait in Seoul (7-8 hours) and a room there was not included.

  6. I tried a couple of times last year to report online, but could not.

Then; after leaving the country and coming back again, it works fine.

It might be a coincidence, but It looks like, you have to leave and come back, to get proper registered for the Online 90 days reporting!?.

  7. Kasikorn don't insure the car due to old age.

    The hunt for insurance continues.

    How old are the cars?

    Not sure.

94 i think for the L300 I tried with at Kasikorn.

Not interested in insuring the car as such.

Want to be protected for claims from other parties.

Economical protection for myself and passengers of mine if hospital bills comes into play.

All companies will offer 3rd party, no matter the age

    That's also what I think.

Did you ask Kasikorn, if you could get the Car Protect 3 (without the +)?

    Else try Viriyah Insurance.

In Kasikorn language they have "levels" 1 to 5

5 being the one discussed earlier in this thread.

    I will try again.

    Good luck!

And; it's also a good "insurance" to get a CarCam.

You don't want to be blamed for an accident, that was not your fault.

  8. I asked the owner of my local Mini mart, if the price for Carlsberg and Beer Lao was going to be cheaper, because of the ASEAN Economic Community.

I see her (the owner) as an educated women, and she speaks good English, but she responded: What is ASEAN?.

I tried to explain, but just got a bland look.

That makes me wonder, if the common Thai knows about it.

Apparently nothing has changed, so why should they!?.
