You sound jealous.  Even posting twice.  Sending all your spare money to her family in Issan so you can't afford to go to the malls for ice cream or coffee like other farangs?  Living the recovering alcholics dream of selling the bar, marrying a bargirl and moving to the darkside?

Ice cream is for children and Italians. Malls are for Americans and Australians who cant handle Thailand. They are often saddled with fat white wives and their brats. I can not think of a greater waste of time,  money and energy than travelling all the way to Thailand and eating ice cream in a western mall. Who is jealous of who? 555

On my first trip to the LOS I spent some time with a local lass who’s company was not completely free. She told me of a new girl who wanted to decorate herself with some ink to be the same as the big girl and it was suggested why don’t you get “no money , no honey”
On her return to the bar she proudly showed off her new tattoo.
    The tattooist had written
“No money, no horney “ !
    They laughed and they laughed.

The Thais are very clever they way they can make puns and jokes in English and Thai.

  3. I guess it depends on the expat.  The Thai bashers and haters certainly have no youthful or adventurous mindset. The TV screen sports crowd  slavishly following 'footie' are not exactly adventurous as they just replicate a mundane western existence.  They could be anywhere. But the guys who get out, do some bar hopping, bar fine girls, travel around Thailand and engage with life here then I think they have a lot more fun and stay more youthful.

Have to agree with you 100%.

The defense of some foreigners defending Thailand, which is not their motherland, is insane.

Most of these I imagine have to continuously talk themselves into the fact they are stuck there forever.

Not stuck here. I Visit the outside world frequently.  A month or two is enough before I return to Thailand. Regarding Defense of Thailand: many Thai bashers are crass and so deserve putting down.

I spent the past few days playing the lets open a bank account game. The goal of the game is to get a Thai bank account with a Visa debit card that gives me "free" ATM withdrawels. The purpose of course is to season the Immigration required moolah AND give me a way to not have to carry a whole bunch of  cash as I roam around. Anything else the bank can do for me is icing on the cake. I am here on an SETV. Here are the winners and losers.

    1. Siam Commercial: no work permit, no account, three branches including at Mquartier.

    2. Kasikorn: no work permit, no account, two branches.

    3. Bangkok Bank: sure we will, but head to your embassy and get a letter verify who you are and we dont do Visa, we do Union Pay only. well, Sorry, I dont do China banking.

    and the winner:

Krungsri, Mquartier Branch, an hour of paperwork, a 500 baht fee on an ATM card, a passbook, 4 fee free at any ATMs a month and unlimited fee free Yellow ATMs. All deposits must be made at a branch.  Cant use the Visa for purchases though. No internet banking. Done.

Yes krungsri bank was easiest for me years ago. But immigration open a Bangkok Bank account for me.

Maby your local IO can point you in the right direction.

I already have an agent but the price is 25k..every year. I have never heard of a cheaper price in reality just on this forum. But nobody follows up with real information.  There are many agencies offering the service and they advertise but they are 25k. So where are the cheaper ones?

I lived in a condo in pratumnak for a month. Nice condo, quiet, near beach, but just nothing to do around there but wander around and twiddle my thumbs.

looked to move on after a month there. Lots of Russians around who keep to themselves.

good distance midway between jomtien and walking st, but it's a trip not at your door.

There are bars and restaurants pn Soi 4 and 5. A few bars on Cozy Beach.  Harlan Goldstiens on CB soi 2. There is the fitness area around the Pratumnak hill. From CB you can walk to WS or to Thapraya to get baht bus to Jomtien.  By and large its a quiet area with easy access to night life areas and shopping areas. There are also 2 G clubs in the area.

The dog is chained some times, mainly at night for its own safety.

Many dogs in this village have been poisoned, so i keep it chained in the middle of the property too far for people to throw poisoned meat, if you read my previous posts about this village you would be aware of that

A long light chain is perfectly acceptable.  Im glad I live in Pattaya with its low crime rate.
