Oh dear, how gullible can you get. The ONLY way to check if a car is stolen is to look at the numbers on the vehicle, and check for any signs of alteration. Then you look at the numbers in the computer to see if anybody has been playing games.

Having knowledge of similar circumstances, let me assure you there are consequences. The girl's family would be expecting a considerable financial settlement from his. Not the western style perhaps, but IMHO better than a forced marriage, and similar to child support, albeit lump sum. As for her life being "ruined"..........

My SIL is a heavy machinery operator, mostly bulldozers, in the Hunter Valley mines, and the training was done through Centrelink, and a subsidy paid on his early employment.
