Monday I ordered from JIB computers website online 3 windows 7 pro packages. Price 5590 Baht the piece. Today I received the package and it turn out to be OEM versions.

That it were OEM versions was not stated on JIB's website and not on the invoice. I feel been cheated, clearly noted on the package that this version is only may be distributed with a fully assembled computer system. We called and JIB blamed us because we should ask first which version to expect!.

I have been building or better say assembling business computers and high end game machines some years now and had in the last two years a high failure rate for Asus main boards with integrated video. I switched from Asus to Gigabyte and buy main boards without integrated video. It is more expensive but offer better performance and less trouble.

It's worth the expense because returned main boards from the distributors DCom or Synnex in the warranty period are refurbished boards with usually more trouble.

lol, no of course not, only office computers with integrated video on board.

Never had a problem with the high end main boards but a lot of trouble with the cheap boards from Asus.

I always find it funny that the staff handle the cards by the actual components. My training and belief is to only handle PCB by the sides and corners.

I am always amazed by how they handle all kind of chips with leaving their finger prints on the boards contacts.

It will be dark corroded spots after some time.

ESD damage is by the high humidity not very likely and chips in a circuit are better protected than loose parts.

Most of the suppliers / manufacturers in the US or Taiwan for my business will never accept PayPal because wire transfer is way more secure than PayPal who can limit accounts in a flash. For transferring money most of the local bank branches have no clue how to do that. For Phuket where we live was a long time the Bangkok Bank main office in Phuket town the only bank where we could do a wire transfer. Last week I went to the SCB branch in Rawai where we have our business account and surprise surprise with invoice, checkbook and company stamp the miracle happened we made a wire transfer to the US. Time needed 75 minutes!.

I gave up calling 1100 a long time ago. First I believed that the connection with ToT squid proxy probably located at Phuket has it self no connection at times but the error shows up so fast after a click in milliseconds. It must be caused by the local ToT internet 'specialists' trying to create the Phuket internet hub.

I was about to post about this error, I get this the whole day trying to update a few word press blogs and on most of the sites including this site.

I heard the story from a friend this morning who was called for assistance with the CCTV at the apartment block after the incident. He said that the whole story was published by <URL removed>. This morning I could access the <URL removed> website but now it seems blocked, indirect is the website loading using a p*xy.

The police was under question in this article because apparently crimes against farangs has no consequences for a Thai in Phuket. Nobody was hurt in but a lot of frightened people after the rampage after a quarrel between a Thai and a farang. The Thai called for help and two drunks friends showed up kicking doors and shouting I will kill you, they forced the wrong door on the fourth floor but the waken up resident blocked his door with a fridge. Later the police was seen talking in a friendly way with the Thai man and made no attempt to arrest him or even to inspect the damage.

The last time that I was there it was still a Hyundai showroom and service center, but I sold my Hyundai after this service center managed to damage my airco's compressor during a refill. So no reason for me to visit this company. During a trip to Bangkok with the Hyundai, the water pump broke down, had to order parts from Bangkok and it took three days to fix my car. That was my lesson never to buy car's without a good dealer net.

Anyone know of a good place? I'm thinking of buying one but the nearest dealer is in HatYai. There may be a dealer in Surrithani as well, but I'm not sure.

Firefox is a zillion times better than IE, and free, but only morons use IE as their default internet browser.

Since our line was upgraded from 2 to 4 Mbps (TOT) we had a lot of trouble with constant disconnections, line quality is perfect.

Replaced the Xavier TOT modem with the Dlink ADSL modem (no wireless) and that resulted as an enormous improvement.

Installed the Dlink wireless routers many times with customers but I don't like the menu, and had some weird connection problems with some notebook clients.

My favorite wireless router is Linksys WRT54G(L) re-flashed with DD-WRT

Use your gateway IP its a local IP.  http://192.xxx.xxx.xxx:8080/xgateway.cgi and            login admin           pass operator  

It only works with IE browser not FF or Opera.   Take good notes of the set up if it fails you can put it back.  or you may end up with a service call (not free)

ps you can google and download the manual from the internet just use the model number on the IpStar unit.

And on portforward dot com is a manual for the IP Star Satellite modem, so it must be possible, but it's to setup an IP camera and my experience is with some IP cameras is that they need a whole block say 5000- 5200 to get it to work properly with remote web camera management.

Is your LNB the cheap UBC version and installed in the LNB setup menu with oscillator setup at 11300 Mhz and or as an universal LNB with two LO freqs?

I fully agree on "NEVER A SYNNEX OR ASUS PRODUCT AGAIN !!!", the problem when you need fast a new main board, all what you sometimes can buy is Asus type in Phuket.

And to answer Tango7 question (a bit late), I have checked and replaced the lithium battery with the new main board with losing bios settings. Had once a older main board with a lithium battery where the battery holder contacts were corroded and that was the cause of the losing settings with a power off.

Did receive my Adbrite checks so far with no problem but the Siam Commercial Bank refused the last 105$ check with the comment that no checks are processed below 150$. That after 45 minutes waiting of course. Haven't tried another bank yet but the last check took two months to get deposited on our account after deducting a 600 Baht fee.

No problem in Patong on Beach Road. The "90 days" are all they are doing, so it is a quick stop and you are done without queing up...

Phuket town used to be quick in and out, bu then they got the que paper system ( or got it fixed) and last month it was an hour wait with all the others applying for visas, etc.

It seems it's made as unpleasant as possible.
