800k is by far and away the easiest method. Just pay the money in and relax. Don't go anywhere near semi legal ruses etc., and personally I would never use an agent and have not done so in nearly 40 years. If the 800k deposit method is too difficult financially for you I fear you may struggle in Thailand given the rising cost of living here.

Ridiculous. Do you seriously think your questions would achieve anything ? They are a total waste of time, and will most likely make things a lot worse. I don't know how long you have lived in East Asia, but you certainly have a lot more to learn about how things work around here. Starting point is to understand that the appearance, behaviour and manners of westerners in Thailand has deteriorated beyond belief over the last 20 years or so, resulting in a loss of respect from the Thai side. Very sad, and all down to cheap air travel.

A long, pointless article saying nothing about a non-issue.

Recently had a holiday in Koh Samed and Pattaya. I renewed my extension last week with no problems. I've never filed a TM30 in 20 years and last week was no exception. It was never mentioned and everything done in under 15 mins.
Me too. No problem whatsoever.

No they will get all of the crap attitudes back in their faces. They want to treat us this way, then get prepared to have some big negativity come straight back at you. It is almost bordering on hatred now.
What does this mean ?

In over 30 years I have never had any problems with Thai Immigration. You are stirring up trouble for no good reason.

Don't do this unless you are specifically asked to do so. I have just been through the process. TM30 never mentioned. Don't be panicked by all the scaremongering on this and other news outlets.

Thanks for asking the time to report. appreciated.
Your 'agent' is entirely wrong. Just completed my 90 day report at CW. TM30 not involved in any way whatsoever.

Just don't say anything more on this issue. It's already headlined in today's Bangkok Post which is a potential disaster and may well make things very much worse.

My monthly and yearly income exceeds the requirements but the income stream does not meet the unimaginative definition of pension by the IO. This kind of beneficial corruption exists when and where laws are not for purpose. It is functional not dysfunctional. Regarding those critics including the OP. Its not your business.
This doesn't make sense, although it does confirm you are breaking the law which is bad news for those of us who follow the rules. Go straight or get out.

If I've said it once I've said it a hundred times, go the 800k route and don't use an agent.

No more so than in any other country.

Forget the marriage route. Just put 800k baht into a local bank and relax.

No problem with retirement extension based on 800k at CW this year or previous 30 years plus, and no complaints regarding service.

Do nothing. Follow your normal procedure. Don't hand over any papers you've not been asked for.....and calm down.

it seems form many posts, only Pattaya is requiring people return after 3 months to show their bank books.
could it be cause so many agents and expats living without enough money, are in Pattaya?
Yes.

Never been near an agent in over 30 years. You should stay above board and do it yourself.
-
Never gone near an agent in over 30 years including this year, and never had any problem at CW or, previously, Sathorn.

Thailand is fine for retirees. Don't listen to the moaners and whingers.

No, never been asked for TM30 or yellow book for retirement extension at CW either this year or in 30 plus preceding years.
-
800k by far and away the easier option if you can afford it.
-
I didn't encounter any of these problems this year at CW, or in previous years at CW and, before that, Sathorn.
