At this rate they will soon be asking for photos of my wife and myself in an intimate embrace.

So sad to see the country torn apart by Bush and Blair. Saddam was not a nice guy, to say the least, but he understood how to run the country. For those of us who knew Iraq well in those days it is depressing beyond belief to witness what has happened there since. Likewise Libya, but that's another story...

Wrong. Taking him out wouldn’t change anything. The policies of Iran remained the same which is to made Iraq uncomfortable for US. The other is Assad remained in charge of Syria. These are the 2 major Iran Middle East policies in last few decades. Bush and Obama are smarter to procrastinate taking out a highly influential state official and the man who fought the Taliban and prevented ISIL overrunning Iraq. He may well be the next Iran president and way more pragmatic than current ideological presidents.
Utterly ridiculous. How much exprience have you had on the ground in Iran, Iraq and Syria ? None at all I suspect.

Either one of Bush or Obama should have dealt with this guy a long time ago. Well done to Trump for facing up to Presidential responsibility.

Sorry Richard I do not see your point here. The OP obtained his visa in Washington, D.C. in June, 2019. This is 4 months before the October 31st implementation. In this case there is absolutely no requirement to prove he has insurance. Immigration were not somwhat flexible, they were clearly wrong.
No, they were right. They let him enter.

Far better for you to have not posed the questions to did to the TIO. The answers you got will have been nothing more than a face-saving opinion.

After 40 years in Thailand, and having lived and worked previously in many other countries, I am still very happy to be here. I have been married to my lovely Thai wife for 30 years, and we have a super son who is now 19. I have never encountered any of the problems so many of you complain about, and I recently obtained my latest 1 year visa extension based on retirement with 800k baht in less than 2 hours at CW. I have never ever used an agent for this purpose. Good luck to those of you who are leaving, and I hope for your sake the grass turns out to be greener for you wherever you finish up than seems to have been the case here. ATB.

It really doesn't matter who gets the job. Labour will be sidelined for the next 10-15 years, maybe longer.

This farce has handed the 2020 election to Trump on a plate. Meanwhile, might we be told how the Bidens got so rich so quickly in Ukraine ?

Many reasons, but the main one is that for many the cost of living in Thailand is now too high. For myself, although Thailand has changed a lot, it is as good a place to be as it was 40 years ago.

It is nine months since I was in LOS and that is obviously too long, as the first thing I did when I saw this story was to blow up the page to view the "female" foreign shoplifter - has anyone else done this ? She looks like an 18 gallon beer keg sitting on two tree stumps ! Thank goodness for Thai ladies, including the missus who at 48 is still a thousand times more attractive than this petty thief. Even with alcohol being included, I doubt her chances of scoring a date in LOS any time soon. Reminds me of the time a girl in a pub in London, when I rejected her advances said "you are drunk" - to which I replied, "yes and you are ugly, but tomorrow I'll be sober." Happy New Year all on TV.
Winston Churchill's put down for being criticised for being drunk. Quite clever, but not entirely pleasant.

You are like a broken record mate. Very silly post
Very silly indeed. My understanding is the insurance issue will not go any further than currently. If you are on annual extensions to a category 'O' visa, and you maintain 400k/800k in a bank account in your name, you will not be effected. The intention of the action being taken currently is to eliminate those who cheat the system by using agents to fabricate the existence of funds they do not actually have, hence the setting of a 400k insurance cover requirement.

Whatever happens the Bidens should be investigated as to how they became so rich so quickly in Ukraine.

leave a king cobra alone and it will go away? sure, maybe. It might also kill your entire family and pets in the process lol
Entirely up to you to do whatever you choose. Personally, snakes don't frighten me but I appreciate others will feel very differently. I think, though, you are being rather over dramatic.

What's the point of this ? Like most other human beings I associate with/correspond with people I like, and avoid those I don't like.
-
Returned to nature ? I very much doubt that. Cooked and already eaten most likely. When you call these people in you are more than likely ensuring a slow and painful death for the snake. Just leave it alone, remove any tempting food, and it will go away.

Why do people insist on holding the Thai people to a Western standard? W.T.F. is wrong with you people? Do they treat their animals well? Not really. Is it really any different from most other countries? No, with the usual exceptions in North America and Northern Europe.
That said, there are a couple of howlers on our street that we have considered feeding special 'treats'. I hate dogs. I'm a pusssy man through and through. ????
People who hate dogs are dangerously unbalanced and need help.

Yes there is such a thing. I have “my”dogs in various places I visit. Some are Soi dogs, some beach dogs and some are dogs that I know are taken care of by other people. The dogs know me and get excited when they see me, sometimes after many months. I’m always finding new “friends” too.
I rarely feed any of these dogs but I do watch over their health. In my car I always have sachets of medicinal powder which mixed with food cures mange and various other parasites including worms. Mange is common but easily cured. The pictures show a dog in Prachuab, before and about 2 months after having a powder.
Good man. We need more like you on these pages, and in Thailand generally.

Use a bow and golf ball "pointed" arrows to salve dog problems. I find the weird fascination with dogs, particularly in a third world country difficult to comprehend. Need for servility? Or is it delegated agression?
Disgusting.

Indications are that annual extensions to an O category visa based on retirement, supported by 800k baht on permanent bank deposit, will continue to be granted without any insurance requirement.

Filipinas are warm and friendly. Everything else sucks. Terrible food, lousy infrastructure, muggings (in my case twice). Overall Thailand wins by a mile in my book.
