As above, it's not required, but IMHO it will be in the future. The 400/40 policies which was going to be required is a good minimal healthcare policy. I bought one for a couple of reasons.

    1. The policies have to be bought before you're 70 years of age. (I'll turn 70 this year)

    2. It's a good minimal healthcare policy at a good price. ($1500 USD) I'm saving 2/3 over my previous policy healthcare policy which the premium was rising 10% a year and was going to end when I'm 75 anyway. This new policy will not be cancelled at any age and policy premium increases are minimal.

I don't like the fact that I have to go to Thai Public hospitals but there are some good ones and should be adequate.

What is the basis for your opinion that it will be required in future ?

I hope you are right about the winter, a bit cool is always nice in Thailand, but I am afraid

You are confusing weather with climate. The climate is becoming increasingly warmer , no one is disputing that. even though weather in some regions and for some times might become cooler.

Many different views on the climate from many different scientists. Who knows what the reality is ?

  3. 78, still mobile and brain seems to work ok most of the time. Happily married to my Thai wife, 65, for 35 years. Main worry is who will care for our cats and dogs should we both expire. I have to fight against worrying about that and all the other usual ageing issues every day, and so far just about winning but very much aware that time is running out. I try just to take things day by day and occupy myself with exercise, tv news, word games and some exercise.

Thais smile at me at almost every shop, grocery, massage, 7-11, or bank I visit.

You greet people and smile, they smile back.

Never heard of someone going about their daily business and using the words "bringing lots of gifts" ?

Well said. Totally fed up with whiners and whingers.

Like your optimism that anyone in the EU would listen to what Boris has to say.

Unlikely that Johnson will get the snap election agreed even with all his threats.  Now claiming that if parliament doesn't go along with him he will have the government go on strike! Pathetic beyond belief.  He had Javid admit today that they wouldn't be leaving by the end of October, clearly he is too cowardly to face the press himself.

The only thing stopping the other parties from agreeing to an election is having the threat of no-deal still on the table.  I totally understand the need for having that when negotiating the deal with the EU but that is done now.  That was always Boris's argument for having it there at all.  Now he is using it as a threat to parliament if they don't go along with him.  Another pathetic attempt at bullying.

I am often accused of criticising Johnson unfairly.  Well I stand by everything I have said about him.  The lovable rogue persona has worn much too thin now.

You are kidding yourself. The only reason Labour and others do not want an election is that the Tories are going to win it. Grow up and get real.
