  1. Rest easy. I flew to the UK and back last month. I did have my vaccination certificates in my bag but I was not asked for them at any time. Not at either point of entry or by the airline on check-in. Your airline may request that you wear a mask on board but that's all.
  2. Speak as I find. I have flown with them three times this year (BKK-LHR in August and BKK-LHR-BKK last month). No air fare is cheap these days but Thai was very competitive on each occasion (unless you want to fly Scoot or have a couple of stops in various european cities). I do prefer Emirates (for their standard of service and the break in Dubai) but, in the summer, their prices were high and for the return trip last month, their website was playing up and kept trying to send me to Stanstead! They were also still a bit more expensive than Thai. The flights were pretty full and the service was adequate on each occasion. I don't mind if the Thai government is chipping in to the cost of my tickets, I give enough to the Thai economy while I am here!
  3. Probably just as effective as the Fabulous Infra-draw Method.
  4. The last two 2kg bags that I have bought from Lotus have had weevils in. The bags are sealed so they must have been introduced when packed. I guess that even big suppliers can't get rid of them. Some good tips in this thread, though. Thanks.
  5. I was in the UK this summer about the time that discussion of the impending gas price rises was starting. Someone asked me about gas prices in Thailand. I replied that I spent about a tenner a year on a gas cylinder refill. That went down well!
  6. I am sure that you are right about the 62" being a long standing requirement but, as the OP suggested, it was not referred to up front on airline websites prior to Covid. A change is rarely good news!
  7. Flew back to the UK in July and noticed Thai Airways had started to use these measurements. What a coincidence that these measurements are a fraction smaller than the largest suitcases commonly available (including mine!). Like you I gave the matter some thought and decided that, for once, a couple of inches wouldn't matter! Sure enough my jumbo suitcase was accepted no problem. I reasoned that the airlines aren't really bothered about suitcases as opposed to the huge boxes that one sees being checked in on occasions. On booking my return flight I noticed other airlines were using these dimensions now. Whether any airline is going to strictly enforce them at check in to the inch remains to be seen. I can't imagine check in staff getting a tape measure out and, as the measurements are in three dimensions, a simple gauge won't do. On my flight back Qatar were still giving a weight allowance only. It remains to be seen how this progresses
