  1. You might want to take off those rose-colored glasses and wake up to reality. America has going down the tube since January in so many ways. Sad but true.
  2. Hello, Maybe members would be interested in having a photography forum for Thailand photos? Many people love photography so I think it would be popular. Thank you
  3. Keep your fingers crossed that currency exchange rates aren't negatively affected. Americans are fast becoming persona non grata. https://www.nytimes.com/2025/08/07/business/economy/trump-tariffs-prices-consumers.html?smid=url-share
  4. That exemption expires "Such household effects must be imported to Thailand not later than 1 month before the importers arrive or not later than 6 months from the date the importers arrive. " Here's the lowdown from Thai Customs on the household goods exemption: https://www.customs.go.th/cont_strc_simple.php?ini_content=individual_F01_160426_01&ini_menu=menu_individual_submenu_02&lang=en&left_menu=menu_individual_submenu_02_160421_01
  5. I haven't used them but I might because I have boxes to ship from a Reno storage to Bangkok that I'm planning for next year. They're called Send2Thai. They have a branch in Vegas an 4 other west coast locations. I think you could just drop off your boxes at their branch which I think makes things a lot easier and cheaper than having to meet them at your storage but whatever. I was looking into other overseas shipping companies also and Schumacher Cargo Logisitics was one I was looking at. Their own website shows like 5000 4.5 star reviews but then on Yelp and BBB they are only 1.3 or 1.8 so not so good there. It's tough to risk your stuff without knowing if they have a solid reputation. If you find someplace good (or bad) please post back your experience, I'm searching too but I'm not interested in door to door, I just want to go back rent a truck and drop my boxes off someplace (I think they call it Port-to-Door).
  6. Trumpers get so triggered. I love it. 😁
  7. True enough but what if you are reincarnated? Just making sure I'm covering all the bases. 😉

  9. Big tech crash yesterday with China potetnially having a better AI chip than Nvidia. Yeah I got about 90% out of the market after the Nov election except for some oil stuff, commodities like copper, uranium and lithium (if it ever comes back). Trying to insulate myself as much as possible from the economic chas that seems inevitable. That includes moving more money to Thai banks just in case the dollar devalues. A lot of uncertainties with an off-the-cuff shooter like Trump and the market doesn't like uncertainty. Well, at my age I probably shouldn't be in the market anyway but it's always been an entertaining game (better than the casino anyway 🙂 ) to dabble in but now not so much.
  10. FYI about Thailand's CFS ports, AI says: When shipping household goods to Thailand, the most likely CFS (Container Freight Station) port used would be Laem Chabang Port as it is the largest deep-sea port in the country and primarily handles containerized cargo, including personal effects and household goods;. Key points about Laem Chabang Port for household goods: Major port for container shipping: This port is well-equipped to handle large volumes of containerized shipments, making it suitable for moving household items. Customs clearance facilities: Laem Chabang has the necessary customs infrastructure to process personal effects and household goods efficiently. Accessibility to Bangkok: While not directly in Bangkok, Laem Chabang is easily accessible via transportation networks, allowing for convenient delivery of your household items to your final destination.
  11. Hello All, I have a small shipment (20 boxes 24"x18x18") of household goods to ship to Thailand. I want to go to the terminal myself to pickup the goods if that's possible?? I'm still exploring what shipping company to use. This one (screenshot below) asks to select Bangkok, Laem Chabang and Latkrabang. Does anyone have experience receivng HHG at them? Is any less hassle to pick them up yourself? Do they all take about the same time or is one slower than the other? Thanks all! 😃
  12. Normally not unless you did a credit card authorization form or the hotels just had a lax policy. It is a thing nowdays with many hotels. In any event better to have a card with your name than take chances. They want a name on the card to specifically hold the guest accountable and nameless cards do not cut it for them in that rerspect. ...guests checking-in must provide a valid driver's license or passport and a valid credit card. The name on the credit card must match the name on the reservation. If the name on the card does not match, a credit card authorization form must be completed and signed by the cardholder.
  13. Thanks all for the great information! I have Bangkok Bank and KBank so I am going to ask them about it.
  14. Yeah you can probably get away with it at hostels. But not likely at 4 or 5 star hotels.
