  1. I will never forget my experience with the British Embassy in Bangkok. My wife and I were traveling to a French overseas territory and required verification of our marriage from the British Embassy in Bangkok, regardless of the fact we had a marriage certificate issued in Bangkok. On arrival at the consular office I was told they didn't know anything about this requirement and therefore didn't have any form for me to complete. After a lot of hassle from the Thai staff they came up with the idea that I should write the letter my self an provided me with a blank sheet of A4.I completed the verification letter and the consular official produced the consular stamp, which I presumed made my document official. The bill for them picking up the stamp was 2,500 Baht. The reply to my complaint about the charges for something I created and they only stamped was " Its Government policy" If you can do anything to avoid having to go to this little part of the great British Empire and its corrupt, robbing, totally self serving diplomats I would encourage you to do so.

  2. In defense of Thai people Martial Law was needed when you have political sides who don't respect freedom of speech and different views you have chaos,as we saw children for god's sake were being killed over what? random bombing's by who? and for what? shooting's It was if they were rabid animals. The military restored calm the police didn't there a part of the problem they can be bought. I sorry but having not had a real democracy Thai's don't understand the power they are given or how to use it yet. The vote is a powerful weapon and should not be sold or bought by anyone. It was written the Pen is mightier than the sword, but the vote is the voice of the people. So want change tired of same oh same oh? the use your vote and bring about change or you doom your children and your children's children. I'm not trying to justify the coup but this is Thailand it is what it took to bring back some form of order I have Thai friends who have and could have been victims. So know we watch and wait to see where it goes from here.In the US there can't be coup's cause the people are armed and there are more armed people than any countries military in the world. Good luck to all Thai people We will be watching.

Can you tell me how elections are going to make Thai's respect freedom of speech and accept different views and who is going to teach Thai,s to respect the power of their vote and how to use it? Better that Thailand adopts the Chinese version of democracy.

  3. Since the entire purpose of the coup and rewriting of the political scene is to ensure the Shinawatras are decimated and blocked from influence and power. It would be highly unlikely that the hand picked judges hearing this case have any delusions about doing anything more than wielding a rubber stamp.

The only question is how hard will the hammer fall?

They were not hand picked - they were democratically elected, which you seem to hold as the right and proper way to choose people that assume power and responsibility, so what's the problem in using the selection process that you swear by??

They are the best and most able (well educated and intelligent people) as judged and chosen by all of the member judges of the judiciary.

The reason that so many have presided over Shinawatra court cases is because of the enormity of them and the money involved in the frauds he carried out requiring top people to take them on and pass just verdicts, which makes sense, doesn't it?

Better to have people that understand what they are doing than to SELECT members and place them into your cabinet, that don't, and are not suitable for their jobs, with their only remit 'to serve their leader in exile' and make as much money as they can through whatever unscrupulous means available to them in abusing their power with the accepting of bribes commonplace amongst these thieves.

Definition:Democratically Elected: Modern Usage has transgressed somewhat from the (original definition) - An individual or group of individuals brought to power by a majority vote of the electorate.

How can you be democratically elected by your peers? The fact that you have stated ( Your Quote ) " Better to have people that understand what they are doing" indicates to me that they have been hand picked for the job.I suppose, based on your statements, you would be quite happy to have a jury made up of people who understand what they are doing, rather than a jury with an open mind, completely unbiased and willing to listen to the accused statements. Nice day for a hanging,I would say. Bring out the rubber stamps.

  4. There has long been animosity between the RTP and the army. Top army officials as well as RTP officials have insane amounts of money to show for their relatively small salaries.

This is another targeted cleansing. Strange how "some people" won't discuss their wealth while requiring others to do so. Strange how "some people" are getting assets taken away while others don't.

They are all corrupt to the core and no one should believe that this "cleansing" is for the benefit of ordinary Thais.

You fail to mention that it was "ordinary Thais" who assisted in the the operation of the gambling den. Lets face the facts, the majority of Thai's are corrupt, not just the police.

  5. There is an urgent need for the Government to show the Thai people and the international community that it acts even handedly when it comes to passing judgments relating to the treatment of demonstrators. It has yet to be proved if the need to show even handed treatment will be converted to actions .The Killing of unarmed people, by the armed forces, while sheltering in a temple seems to have been forgotten by the PM,who seems think its ok for the security forces to return fire when it seems they are allegedly under fire from demonstrators. There can be no excuse for the indiscriminate killing of unarmed civilians by any army and any morally inclined Government would not try to find one.

  8. This what happens when you do a deal with "family" instead of doing the deal with "friends" So here is how it goes. China offers to finance your railway as long as you use their banks for the loan and pay higher interest rates, use their labour to build, allow them to purchase the land the tracks go through and to cap it all allow them to run the rail system once complete. Can any one tell me who the naive fools are here? Oh and buy the way I understand China has a few old submarines they want rid of. Once again Thailand can borrow the money from the Chinese bank. What a great brother China ischeesy.gif

  9. Someone is saying how can this happen when martial law is in place ?

Well I don't see Martial law anywhere I have been , there are no troops on every street corner, in fact there are none at all in the town where I live, life goes on as normal, I and everyone else I know goes where they want when they want doing what they want.

Martial law are only words for the vast majority in this country and don't effect their lives in the least.

The only ones who are affected are those who are engaged in politics or want to make trouble.

We now have two bombs planted by someone who is out to make trouble, to defy if you like, for whatever reason they think in their narrow view is justified.

Lets hope they can quickly identify and round up the ones who planted these things and prevent them ever doing it again, with the police now being watched carefully and forced to do their job that is likely to happen.

    Who is watching the watchers?
