  1. Tried to log on this morning to transfer some money and a notice their system down as of last night 10.30 pm until 10.30am this morning. I got no notification or messages. One of the rare times I only have money in this account and not my SCB. As of 12.00 midday their system appears to still be down online and phone app. We came back from holidays yesterday. Lucky wasn't today would have had a problem buying fuel etc on the way back. I can not believe the arrogant attitude. happened at the beginning of covid also. I am definitely moving my main money out of there and into SCB. Absolutely unacceptable. I doubt any other bank in the world would get away with it, particularly without proper notification / prior warning
  2. On holidays in Thailand at the moment in area close to the Cambodian border. Have come across a lot of Cambodian girls working in restaurants, hotels etc and have been very impressed with them. Seem a lot brighter, intelligent and inquisitive than Thai girls. They seem like they are conscientious workers and take some pride in what they are doing. One other misconception I had were that Cambodian girls were all dark. The girls I have met this week very white and pretty, not that I don't like darker girls. Of course there are good and bad in all people but I think some broad generalizations can be made per all countries. For eg Vietnamese and Thai people are very very different, as are Laos people. I have read a little bit about Cambodian girls, whether it is true or not but generally they are said to be loyal and devoted wives. Team players. Very interested in your culture and interests. All of these things would be 180 degrees opposite to what I have found in Thailand. Good or bad Thais seem to live in the moment. Not a lot of planning or concern about anyone else, or anything else too much for that matter. Many very entitled. Moody, lazy even. I mean there are guys here in Thailand say they have happy and fulfilling relationships. I do know a lot of guys here that don't though. What is the general consensus on Cambodian women and people?
  3. My wife got a similar story when she was going back to her village to be vaccinated as the queues in the city months away. Her village is actually in the same province as we live. This "headman" <deleted> is so archaic. I have lived in several villages and the headman usually barely has a 6th grade education. Usually voted in because of money handed out in the right places and large family... and generally any government money spent or improvements made in the area to the poh yai bans family's financial advantage and in the area they live. Just another greedy paw in the cookie jar.
  4. Since done a bit more research. Ferry at first said single Astra or double Sino vax, or a test certificate in the last 72 hours. Today both the hotel and ferry said no requirements. Officially there is nothing required when travelling from a red zone to a red zone. Both our home location and Trat are red zones
  5. Been a chronic asthmatic for years, got a lot worse moving here and rather than do anything about just used Ventolin increasingly more and more. Got onto a Seretide Accuhaler (The purple round one with the powder) and it has changed my life. 2 puffs a day done. Sleeping better, generally feel 300% better. One issue I have found is I am losing my voice a bit, and I sing. I know this can be a side effect of these inhalers, even thrush of the throat etc. Is there anyway I can overcome this apart from having a drink after? Are the aerosol puffers better than the powder inhalers? Any help or advice appreciated
  6. Never wanting to invest too much in Thailand, a couple of years ago I bought a little sound unit for my PC. Basically a blue tooth Subwoofer / amp and 2 x passive speakers. Sherman brand (SB-55T ....50w RMS) I think it was under 2000 baht, but sounded surprisingly good, powerful and has been reliable. The sub woofer is good but the 2 x passive box speakers a little thin. Just wondering what sort of improvement I would get from getting rid of the original speakers and hooking up a couple of better quality bookshelf / desktop speakers. I was always under the impression the amp itself doesn't really vary much, its the quality of the speakers that makes your sound. That could be completely incorrect. Not after audiophile quality here, just a richer sound. I don't intend to spend a lot.....can pick up a couple of decent secondhand small (30-60w) Denon's or even JBL's for under 2000 baht. There are no specs on the amp or speakers....I see a lot of the passive bookshelf speakers are 6 ohm, some 8 ohm. Is that going to matter greatly? Any advice appreciated
  7. No, Im trying to log onto Mor Phom app. Bkk hospital clearly should have given me a barcode or QR code. Sure will get all that after my second vax but when travelling in most cases one AZ vax is adequate to check into hotels, go on ferries etc
  8. Never said it was. Its my reappointment certificate. Have only had the first AZ vax
  9. It looks like they have English too, at least to log in
  10. I scanned the QR Code I have but it only took me to the Bangkok hospital website to give a breakdown of what to expect after vax as the slip says. Its obviously not my personal QR. Mrs rang the hospital again, theyre going to look into it lol.
  11. I did manage to finally scan the QR code on my certificate and it does direct me to their website but its only a guide of what to expect after vaccine. Its obviously not my personal QR code
  12. We talking websites or apps? And when you say scan, scan the QR code with what or how? I have taken a photo of the QR code but there is no option to scan anything? Or can I scan on my PC somehow? PC only 6 months old We called Bkk hospital re 13 digit number they were absolutely no help at all
  13. Couple of things. App is called Mor Phrom. Also I dont actually have the 13 digit barcode. Only a QR code on my slip. I dont know how I can scan it into the app or anything else though? Just scanning on my camera doesnt do anything and no where on the app I can see to scan? Thanks all for the help by the way
  14. Searching mor prom on playstore doesnt bring up anything recognisable with those words in english? Is the app named in Thai?
  15. I got a 13 digit barcode but mrs said you need a Thai ID to log into the app. Are you saying just put your phone number in as ID? I didnt register for the vax using the app...does it matter? Thanks very much for your help
  16. Organizing to go to Koh Chang soon and obviously things could change but wondering if anyone lives or travels to Koh Chang can tell us current requirements. Getting mixed responses from Hotel and Ferry. We are from Khon Kaen (red zone?) I have had one Astra so apparently I am ok to go anywhere but Mrs still waiting for her Sino or whatever she is going to get. The ferry is saying she needs to have a test 72 hours before from the hospital, so I am not sure if that means a swab test from a clinic etc or they want the full certificate test. Then someone told her something different again. The hotel told her they needed similar requirements then she rang again and they said no requirements from a red zone as long as we get through Trat checkpoints lol. No wonder these places are suffering from a lack of tourists. Any help appreciated
  17. Got my first Vax a month ago. Got a slip of paper for my next jab / appointment but what are you supposed to have to show you have been fully vaccinated after completion? I probably need something now as we are going to one of the islands soon and you can board the Ferry with one Astra or two Sino. I have one Astra
  18. Have no intention of doing it. I got the same experience everytime time I went to a dentist here. First words come out of their mouth root canal. Last time I just smiled at him and said filling please. He smiled back and said ok. My GF has an appointment Tuesday govt clinic. Im sure they will either do a filling or extraction.
  19. Can buy raw beetroot from Makro or Tops usually have it for 50 baht for 3 small beetroot about as big as a tennis ball. Tops probably better quality but often run out and the Makro is good. Just try and buy it as smooth skinned and perfect as you can, as Worgeordie says with tops on if possible. Wash the beets as best you can and leave skin on. You will need to put a lid on a pot, beets covered with a cm / 1/2 " water, add a teaspoon of salt...bring to the boil and simmer about 1.5 to 2 hours. Test by inserting a butter knife. Should still be firm not as soft as say a cooked potato. The skins will just come off in your hand after cooking. I let them cool a bit then run under the tap to keep it cool as I rub the skin off. My recipe is a fair bit sweeter than previous but we like sweet beetroot in Australia. 1 cup vinegar i cup boiled water 1 cup sugar teaspoon salt teaspoon Thyme or Sage Mix above together (enough for around 3 jars) I use the bigger jam jars to store, should keep around 3 months. Boil your jars and lids for about 10 mins then let cool (Don't run under cold water) Slice the beetroot in half then slice about 1/4" Gently add the beetroot to the jars (I usually make 3 or 4 jars at a time) Leave around an inch of space at the top, then cover with pickling mixture, just covering the beetroot by about 1/4". Can start eating next day they are delicious
  20. I got a couple like that already mate but they're pretty heavy and a bit more expensive than a standalone open Trx. These ones already got plugs and outlets on them, which I guess easy enough to take out and hardwire. Also wasn't sure when they rate them 100 watt on the secondary / primary or both. I guess the P=EI equation changes per voltage?
  21. My GF son looks like he's developed a couple of small holes in his back molars. Obviously from a diet of coke and rubbish in his former life in a village. She took him to the dentist clinic this morning and they said they don't do kids, she will need to take him to a child's dentist. First time I have heard of that but anyway we're in Thailand. She showed me (translate) what the guy said and translated to "root canal" without even looking in his mouth! I said what? For a 5yo child with a hole? What about a filling? The tooth will fall out anyway in a year or two. She agreed the dentist also told her the tooth would come out in a year or two naturally. The clincher was she tells me its 5000 baht per tooth and takes one hour lol. Now I am no dentist and not sure if things have changed or not but a root canal on two molars never took 1 hour to complete nor would it be needed with a small child. I adore the little guy and if that's what needed I am all for it but I wont aid and abet people taking advantage of this sort of situation. Anybody had any experience with this? I have myself been to this particular clinic and the first thing always comes out of their mouth is root canal. I always tell them filling please. Before anyone jumps in, please.... I been with this girl 4 years so no comments she's running a scam on me or in cahouts with the dentist. I know her well enough to know that's not the case.
  22. Definitely 100v, well that's on the specs plate. 100v 70w Thanks Crossy
  23. I got a 100v Roland amplifier from Japan. Currently using a piggy back transformer but want to install something more permanent. Same plugs as Thailand so easy to forget the transformer and blow the thing up. the rating on the amp is 100 volt 70 watt (power input not speaker output) Just wondering what size (wattage) I should get? Not sure if power is rated on the primary or secondary of a 220 / 100v transformer. I would need to get 100 watts on the 100 volt secondary side? Would rather go a tad bigger so it can handle the load comfortably but not too big as weight is a consideration.
  24. Is Serevent still available? What is the best one to use guys? Seretide or Serevent? And if Seretide the Evohaler (aerosol ventolin type one) or the Accuhaler (Round disk shaped powdered one) From memory there used to be one called Becotide too and another called Pulmacort. I think the Pulmacort is fairly strong. Not sure if that would be available here over the counter
  25. Thanks guys, I did actually get one for 680 baht, sure they were about triple that when I first came here 7 years ago. Its the round purple one. Took a puff last night and best night sleep I have had for years. Woke up this morning and lungs nice and clear. It isn't an aerosol as such, you click the button and I think it releases a powder into the chute and you inhale it. used to be a puffer called Serovent too. It was like a ventolin puffer. My son reckons he gets a generic one called Pavtide. Seems to think Seretide not available in Australia anymore, not in the round purple dispensers anyway
