Where To Buy Crown Royal Canadian Whiskey In Thailand
richard_smith237 replied to sangtip2's topic in General Topics
Actually bootlegged or watered down, even swapped out with something else. Whiskey is something I wouldn't order in a bar in TH, or the USA, as some do the same there. Crown and Jameson has too much of a distinct taste for a regular drinker not to notice. Haven't a clue of other whiskeys or spirits, and never got into them. Only in mixed drinks. When out and about with mates, quite often there is only so much beer I can stomach before I'm too full... I'll switch to neat Whisky - thats when I can tell. ... the go to is usually JW Black Label or Jamesons... After encountering so much bootlegged JW Black Label I started going for Jamesons, but found that too is bootlegged quite often... its just easy to tell as they both have a distinct taste.... I'm not out in the 'rubbishy bars too often anymore, so its less noticeable' and the good bars allow us to buy a bottle and keep it there... -
Hence my post, leave someone dying in the road and failure to call emergency services = manslaughter. No, its not Manslaughter... the Charge 'would' be Failing to Stop and Render Assistance. This charge applies when a driver involved in an accident does not stop to help the injured parties. Conviction can result in imprisonment for up to 3 months and/or a fine ranging from 2,000 to 10,000 baht. If the BMW driver is found to be at fault, other potential charges could be: Reckless Driving Causing Death: This charge applies when a driver operates a vehicle with reckless disregard for safety, resulting in another person's death. Conviction can lead to imprisonment for up to 10 years and fines up to 200,000 baht. Negligent Homicide: This pertains to causing death through negligence, including negligent driving. Penalties include imprisonment for up to 10 years or fines up to 20,000 baht.

Mother outraged after seeing son bullied at Thai school
richard_smith237 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
If you want to judge based on one single facet - thats up to you as you say... ... over 2000 parents consider otherwise... I think the kid is a wrong-un and shouldn't be there, but its not my choice, I'm not the paid professional. -
I'm not defending the woman... But we do not yet know if the motorcyclist simply pulled out infront of the car without looking. The very reason I have a dash-cam is for these exact situations - an accident at some point is inevitable when a motorcyclists just darts out and I (or my wife) is unable to avoid them. I'm not suggesting this happened - I'm suggesting we have no idea how this accident happened. As poisonous the character of this woman clearly is - it may not be her fault. But leaving the scene in such a heartless manner clearly is. -------- She'll be on the news soon enough with faux remorse stating she was confused and scared....

Mother outraged after seeing son bullied at Thai school

If they let the kid bully other kids all the time, they are not a good school. Then you'd be wrong - its is what I believe to be the Top School in Thailand - it is certainly without doubt one of the top four schools in Thailand (Amongst - Harrow, Patana, Shrewsbury, ISB and slightly behind those, Shrewsbury, NIST and Bangkok Prep).... I just disagree with the manner in which they are 'attempting to teach and control' a child I think is beyond help and potentially a danger to the other students - that said, they are the experts and know better than I what goes on the school - its their job to handle this professionally even if I disagree with them. As far as my sons academic record and his enjoyment of school is concerned - the school itself is simply outstanding - its just one 'wrong-un' ruining it for a few other kids... -
We obviously don't know the cause of the accident - in another story this week a motorcyclist miraculously survived after drifting across three lanes into to the path of a bus. So, we don't know IF the motorcyclist was at fault or not - we've all seen how carelessly motorcyclists potter about and place themselves in extremely dangerous postions, equally so, we've all seen how careless many drivers are speeding without any regard for the safety of others... The one thing we do no for sure - the BMW driver is a callous being of subhuman order - caring for a cat more than three dying people alone should be reason for extreme prejudice to be shown by the legal system. This should be made public to highlight to everyone what vapid toxic scum this woman is.

Mother outraged after seeing son bullied at Thai school

I was bullied a couple of times by the older pikey kids... Complaints fell on deaf ears.... my Father said deal with it... no issues from him if defended myself. A few weeks later, my parents were summoned to the school because, apparently, I had become "quick to react with my fists." .... while I waited outside the room, I overheard my father letting them have it, tearing into them for failing to do their job properly. It was a moment that stayed with me, seeing him fiercely defend me against their incompetence.... (oh, he also told me if I ever put the 'boot in' I'm in big trouble, never kick anyone once they are down !!!) I've passed on the same advice to my son... don't start anything, but if someone is bulling him, I'll support him for sticking up for himself... ... There's a total 'wrong-un' in my Sons school year, he's hurt multiple kids... Stabbed one with a pencil, bitten another, chipped teeth of another boy.... The school seem overwhelmingly soft on this boy seemingly believing they can rehabilitate him rather than prioritising the safety of other students... I've told my son to keep well clear of this boy - he's a tantrum away from stabbing a kid in the eye or neck... ... various parents have written letters to the school - so they are on notice, if anything happens involving this boy legal action will be taken due to their failure of duty to protect the students... ... the issue of course, its one of the best schools in Thailand and parents don't want to remove their kid from a school due to one 'wrong-un'.... Its his parents fault, they do absolutely nothing, I mean nothing at all to discipline the child and the mother seems actively frightened of him. -
Indeed.... the motorcyclist passing the frame earlier was incredibly lucky he wasn't 2 seconds slower... The motorcyclist going the wrong way would have died if he was in that spot going the correct way, as a pedestrian, cyclists etc... The pickup driver driving like a complete lunatic... the direction the motorcyclist was travelling in is all rather moot...

How was he riding and using the bike as a race track, speeding, swerving from lane to lane producing a hell of a racket, revving without reasons and running red lights ???? Have you seen a video or have information on this rider that is not shown anywhere else ???? OR... are you just making stuff up to fit a bias rhetoric fuelled by 'some' other motorcyclists you've seen riding around ?
-
Scooter? Yup... I used to ride a real motorcycle, it was a little too big for Bangkok so I now have what I and many others call a 'scooter' - but I understand that can be misleading... ... Its a 300cc 'step through' motorcycle.... such 'scooters' are handy in the city with the added bonus of allowing the breeze to flow up the shorts and cool the mangina !

Where To Buy Crown Royal Canadian Whiskey In Thailand
richard_smith237 replied to sangtip2's topic in General Topics
I will if I see a bottle... BTW - for some inexplicable reason, Jamesons is one of the most bootlegged Whiskey's in Thailand... so I now steer clear of it in bars... -
Was he checked for booze ??? That should be standard for anyone involved in a vehicle incident (nationality and status is irrelevant). One additional point thought - So many people are hurt in the 'impact zone' or 'line of fire' as its often called in HSE speak.... spaces are placed at the side of the road for pedestrians etc.. then they are take by food cards, which become permanent as the 'space' right up to the very edge of the road is encroached upon, then of course the 'brake failure - laap-nai' occurs... and the result isn't a vehicle leaving the road and hitting the pavement... its the vehicle leaving the road and taking out a 'mini-restaurant'.....

What Is the Best Way to Fly?
richard_smith237 replied to 123Stodg's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Seats are variable... depends not only only the airline, but also the 'fit out'... not all the seats on the same airline are the the same per aircraft - if that makes sense. Best Eco seats I had were Qatar - usually a 3 tier service, they had 4 tier seating as planes were borrowed from Cathay on a route I flew regularly... Comfort+ seating... plenty of legroom... Smart move... another one for you... Wear Skins (Calf compression) or flight socks (good ones, not the ones from boots)... &... advice is always don't take off your shoes... IMO thats rubbish, take off your shoes, let your feet relax.... ... Walkabouts are a good idea.... but I don't really like do to that - if everyone goes walkabout everyone else trying to sleep gets their seat hit but people trying to do their 'walk about' !!! - but I see why its important... ... BUT... IF you ever saw a doppler Ultrasound of your legs, you'll be satisfied that simple movements of your feet (sitting calf-ups) is sufficient to get excellent blood flow in your lets so walking is not as 'essential as we think'.... (wearing clothing without pinch points also essential whatever class we are flying in)... -
I'm still trying to piece together which particular moronic troll you were before adopting this new guise. As for the costs of children...... well, its endless and overwhelming. Educational expenses, travel, housing, food... let’s not forget the looming university fees.... ...But worse than all of that exists a huge emotional toll: grappling with even the faintest possibility of 'gene mixing' with the progeny of such trollish mediocrity as yourself. The mere thought that my gene pool could suffer such contamination is frankly intolerable....

You are the sort of guy that gives guys a bad reputation. I think you have misunderstood the question... When he [the Op] wrote 'Thoughts?'..... I think he was asking, what are they... what is a thought ?... as he clearly lacks the concept of 'intelligent thought'... thus, his musings a the voicing of impulse rather than any intelligent thought process...

What Is the Best Way to Fly?

With approximately 20 flights per year... having been gold / platinum (or equivalent) tier on the Airlines I've regularly flown on over the years (Thai, Etihad, Emirates, and currently Qatar)... I'd consider I'm well versed in getting the 'best out of a a flight'... but which ever way we try and polish it, its a turd !!! - especially in Eco... The seats are just not comfortable and no amount of neck-pillow is going to solve a numb bum !!!... Everyone has their hacks... TikTok is full of newbees who think they've cracked how to fly better than everyone else has in the last 50 years !!!... the reality is, you're either ok with sitting and being bore for 6-10 hours or you are not... Me... give me a flat bed and a tablet to zone me out and I'm great !!! - sit me in an uncomfortable seat and its well, not very comfortable. ... Thats just the way it is... ... I don't mind the person in front putting their seat back, thats their right. I don't care for the food, but I'm never that hungry, the movies are usually rubbish, but I have my own. The noise is not an issue I have my noise cancellers, I do get irritated by the idiot who opens the window blind when flying east, I don't mind a crying baby when the parents are doing their best etc... etc... but the seats are still jeffing uncomfortable after more than a couple of hours and I don't want to get up every hour for a walk !!!.. -
What Is the Best Way to Fly?
richard_smith237 replied to 123Stodg's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Even when coming back from work... exhausted... Sat in Eco... 2am flight, I've been up since about 5am... I'll drift off until someone bumps my seat, turbulence or the food / drinks trolley passes... any form of semi-decent sleep is a no goer - I find it impossible no matter how exhausted I am (I've never been able to sleep in a car either)... But... Same scenario... Business class... I'll sleep, but barely and get disturbed a lot... 'Drop a sleeping aid' (Benzo) and bang, I'm out... FA is waking me up with a coffee just before landing (flight feels like its an hour long and I have a decent sleep)... Its a different world (the Benzo-Biz class combo). So.. no night flights for me (unless doing B&B)... Or its day flights and just chill, read, watch the iPad etc... but after 6 hours or so those seats are uncomfortable so I'm ready for a little break (18 hr break into a city, have a meal, a sleep) then back to the airport and off again... -
That didn't take along at all.. We're just missing Gottfrid and we have the trifecta !!! .... So far we have - The 'Go-fund-me comment' - unfounded suspicions of drugs - unfounded suspicions of alcohol (from a drunk driver nonetheless !) - unfounded suspicions of speeding - unfounded suspicions of whether he was licensed - A stupid comment about the need for a big bike ... I'm not sure what there is left for other Brit-bashers to have a go at... I haven't read the 'deport him' comment yet... 'if he wasn't here the accident would not have happened' !!!.... No you don't - you're a drunk driver - you wouldn't even notice if you've hit someone... Consider yourself lucky - that could have been a drunk pedestrian stepping out in front of you while you are driving shyatfaced after 10-12 beers....

Thai housemaid’s 100 million baht fortune hits a legal snag

Have you moved in with LL or something ???? -
Keep searching. You'll find some way to extort some tea money out of 'im! I'm sure the Anti-Brit Bigots will come up with a few ideas to blame the rider just for being British... That said - he was pretty dumb to be riding around without gloves, jacket, decent footwear etc - but if only riding at the same speeds as all the other scooter riders etc then he's at no different risk of injury himself than anyone else. That said - anyone riding a scooter will be better of with a jacket. I will not hit a main road on my scooter without gloves, jacket, boots, full face helmet - some may think thats overkill, others think getting on a motorcycle is a death wish... our risk profiles and tolerances for risk clearly all vary.
