I just don't get your thinking on a lack of common sense and practicality sometimes.

The guy did wrong but you try to turn it around.

Try doing what he did in Australia and see if you get off with an apology.  Try posting in any country with lies on many websites and see what happens, i'm sure you be sued in most of them and especially in the US.   LOL

As for your other question on army tweets, I don't follow twitter or army tweets so I cannot comment.

In Australia would you be arrested and jailed?..or in any country you mention? They can sue if they think they have a case but they’d have to put their money betting on that ,and they could lose. I’ll remind you that Thailand’s defamation laws don’t require the accusation to be untrue to be prosecuted. Are you unable to understand those two very important differences?

  2. I’m looking for a fairly standard petrol lawnmower in Pak Chong area (Nakhon Ratchasima). I’m inclined towards Honda given general reliability of that brand. Older posts 2018 indicated only HRJ216 model was available in Thailand but that may have changed now but it looks the kind of thing I’m after. I’m out the country so will have to direct the wife who mentioned Thaiwasadu is local.
    Any tips/advice prices welcome.

I would like to see a good study on if it even matters if you do good in school, as far as success goes. I am guessing it would not.

Think about a bunch of soldiers who are studying tactics from books. You will have no idea who will be the best when you actually get into battle. Highly possible that the worst student is the best actually.

School means nothing, bad teachers or good have much less effect on students than we think. School actually teaches us to conform and to follow, all things that are a detriment to the truly successful.

I would say the poor reasoning in your own post disproves what you are trying to allude to. Take nearby Singapore which consistently tops the PISA educational tables in all categories and compare to Thailand which comes 13th from bottom (see my earlier post) . Now compare those two countries GDP per capita and the huge difference in the average technical /skill set and wage. Very many in Thailand earn only 300 baht per day . The very large tourist industry, which is largely low skilled has died because of the current situation, but the millions now unemployed have few transferable skills or education to equip them for more skilled jobs. With poor numeracy and literacy skills also there is no chance of that being remedied.

In my case, I entered on a Non O spouse visa and extended based on retirement a couple of years back. Would that mean I would be eligible for a CoE if I was in the UK?

If you are married to a Thai you can apply for a certificate of entry on that basis.

That would also apply if married to a Thai but Non O based on retirement?
Im in UK and my visa expires 22 January. For now I’m keeping a watching brief in hopes of conditions (especially quarantine) improving by then. Should that visa expire would that make things much more difficult- I.e. reapplying for a non O (?) based on marriage and would that have to be done in UK ? The marriage certificate etc. is all still in Thailand so although inconvenient I could get wife to email copies.

  5. The problems run much deeper.

"Thai students are consistently performing below the international average in core subjects, according to the results of the international 2018 PISA examinations.

Published by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) on Tuesday, the results show Thai students underperforming in reading, mathematics and science compared to most countries participating in the evaluation.

The PISA examinations, which take place every three years, evaluate education systems worldwide by measuring basic skills and knowledge of 15-year-old pupils, and their readiness for the challenges of adult life.

Approximately 600,000 pupils from 79 countries, including 37 OECD nations, completed the latest test, which focused primarily on their reading ability.

According to the survey, Thailand ranked 56th for maths, 66th for reading, and 52nd for sciences.

Thai pupils recorded a score of 393 points in reading, far below the OECD average of 487 points. In sciences, Thai students scored 426 points, much worse than the international average of 489. And in mathematics, Thais scored 419 points, well below the OECD average of 489 points.

Thailand’s reading performance in PISA 2018 was lower than in any previous assessment, and 16 points lower than in PISA 2015. "

    Any specific recommendations?

In normal circumstances I’d grown tired of what Phuket had become and found Lanta rather more laid back but still with plenty of facilities and not a rip off. But given the current situation with no tourists I’d likely take the opportunity to revisit Phuket, especially as Lanta might be very dead now. Kamala bay was a nice beach ,but again from a snorkelling perspective that isn’t going to have changed hugely.

  7. Sadly most major islands ,even Ko Lanta have very uninspiring snorkelling now off the beaches. So you have to either stay in a remote island with little else to do or do speedboat Day trips tours from the likes of Lanta which has a couple of good options . My favourite is the Ko Rok,Ko Ha 2 stop tour, but of course it’s around 1500 baht and the day is over by 3pm when they head back. If that appeals,Opal tours is one I’ve used satisfactorily on several occasions. In November id be looking towards Andaman side in any case. I’ve snorkeled and dived around Thailand, including live aboards to Similans since 30 years ago but its deteriorated substantially since then. Sorry if this is a bit depressing

    * Tourists from low-risk countries would not be infected and it would be safe to allow them in

    That's guaranteed then?

When you get in your car in Thailand there’s no guarantee you’ll survive the journey. But you can guarantee that scenario will apply to around 25,000 souls over a year.

Then if I remember you get hit with another intermediary bank fee, I stopped that years ago when nationwide charged for the transfer and the bank in Thailand did as well, never got a refund so closed account

I use World First currency. You get about 0.2 baht below the interbank rate and NO fee. An intermediary bank always charges but works out about 150 - 200 baht depending on amount. As a customer I referred a friend and we each got £50 reward !

    An interesting last point.

Does that mean that anyone arrested for murder based on a warrant to be tried in a US state which has the death penalty would not succeed?

As in the jihadi 'Beatles case' (although that related to releasing evidence)an extradition can be authorized if the state agrees that prosecutors will not seek the death penalty.
