And it’s not like we haven’t seen this all before; from Benghazi to Obama’s birth certificate, the accusations fly with absolutely no evidence to support it. Hilary (now easy Trumpers, easy) went through many years of investigation that cost millions of taxpayer funds, for the GOP to come to the conclusion that it had found nothing, Nadia, zip to contradict the conclusions of the independent accountability board or the many, many, many previous investigations. Its yet another diversion tactic to keep the conspiracy theorists in Heaven, the uneducated titillated and the faithful even more faithful. Majorie Taylor Green and that peodophile Gaetz are a continuing disgrace to democracy in the US.

Well I for one am convinced. Great story. You got any Harry Potter?

Completely irrelevant to the whole conversation. I know you consider yourself some kind of intellectual heavyweight but relevance to the topic is always a good start.

Yeah, always a good idea to hedge your bets. And 'children here are taught from an early age that a man is somehow divine, when he isn't', what like Jesus? See, you can't even tolerate another religions and have to belittle them because YOURS is the only true religion. And finally (and it is finally for me), there have been more than 18,000 'Gods' worshiped throughout mans existence, of which some 3,000 are still worshiped today (including yours). https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/your-brain-food/202107/why-do-humans-keep-inventing-gods-worship

It's sanctimoniuos rubbish like this that dilutes the very little argument you have. You can't hate something you don't believe exists and we are not 'abused' and we're not atheists because 'some scientists' tell us to be. We've just looked at the evidence, done our research and come up with the conclusion it's all man-made from a time when it was hard to explain where the sun went at night.

You were 'taught Catholicism when I was in grade school, and my parents were also Catholic' but you're not 'brainwashed'. Do you not see the contradiction there? My mother was catholic and my father was protestant (much to the chagrin of the local priest) so I know first hand the indoctrination of the Catholic church. You may not think you've been brainwashed, but you have been as is evident in you belief in a certain "God" and not one of the many hundreds that exist in the world today. Your faith is based on environment, close influences and geography. If you were born in India or Japan or Thailand you would have a very different view of all the things you have mentioned. None of it will be based on facts, evidence or science because religion only adopts what helps it convince the masses. That's the very definaition of indoctrination. But hey, you do you and if it gives you comfort then fill your boots.

Ahh the old 'you don't know what you don't know argument so therefore it's possible'. You believe the Big Bang theory was God because you were told it was God and it nicely fits into the christian narrative. If you were born any time before 1950 you would have dismissed it out of hand because religion has been denying science for centuries and insisted God created the world in 7 days. Evolution is also another good example of this. Religion had been denying evolution for over 100 years (because, you know Adam and Eve) until again in 1950, Pope Pius XII confirmed that there is 'no intrinsic conflict between Christianity and the theory of evolution, provided that Christians believe that God created all things and that the individual soul is a direct creation by God'. In other words, an acceptance but with religous caveats. There is no assumptions in my thoughts to you and certainly no 'ignorance'. You have faith and that seems to be enough for you but please don't try and explain your belief in the supernatural as anything that I don't understand. I understand EXACTLY why you are religous and it has nothing to do with facts and everything to do with upbringing, environment and indoctrination.

For 50 years the guy offered $1 million (in the days when $1 million was a HUGE amount) to prove ANY supernatural occurrence and not one single person (including those that supposedly talked to dead people and had ghosts in their house) could cut the mustard. You don’t think if it was true that at least one person could prove it? You’ve seen all those ghost hunter programs on TV yeah? Do they ever find a ghost? Of course not because they don’t exist. And it’s a completely different question to “does life exist elsewhere in the universe “. Statistically it’s a high probability that life does, but since it hasn’t been proven, the jury is out. The jury have decided on ghosts and said they definitely DONT exist.

A bit convenient that don't you think? For centuries the universe was created by God and only until Georges Lemaître comes along and in 1930 offers another, very credible alternative does this start to get questioned. It then takes 20 years for the then Pope (Pope Pius XII) to not only accept this but to then say it was God that created the Big Bang. Since it is scientifically proven and you can't now deny it, all christians have now jumped on the bandwagon and now claim it proves God. What hypocricy. And scientists CAN prove their theories. Gravity is a theory. Biology is a theory. Evolution is a theory. There's the Atomic Theory, the Kinetic Theory of Gases, General Relativity Theory, Special Relativity Theory, the Quantum Field Theory. You just don't understand what a scientific theory is.
-
You've undone yourself there by obviously not knowing the difference between a 'theory' and a 'scientific theory'. 'A scientific theory is an explanation for a natural phenomenon that is widely accepted among the scientific community and supported by data. Scientific theories are confirmed by many tests and experiments, meaning theories are unlikely to change. While the word “theory” is commonly used outside the scientific world to describe a simple hunch, scientists use the term to describe a broadly accepted explanation for an occurrence.' https://www.masterclass.com/articles/theory-vs-hypothesis-basics-of-the-scientific-method If what is proposed is NOT confirmed by tests and experiments then it's called a hypothesis. Religion is a hypothesis.
-
That's exactly what I believe in. The Big Bang theory is scientifically proven whereas religion is obviosly man-made. To anyone willing to cast a critical eye on it, The King James Bible (what most christians believe to be the 'Word of God') is a book edited in the 17th century from 16th century translations of 8,000 contradictory copies of 4th century scrolls that claim to be copies of lost letters written in the 1st century. There were (and still are) no original texts to translate from and even the oldest of the manuscripts (to include the Dead Sea scrolls) are written hundreds of years after the 'death' of Christ. What you now call the Bible is in fact a version of a version of a version, written for the approval of King James and the British parliament for political reasons. But hey, if it makes you feel better, believe what you want; Gods, ghosts, fairies, unicorns. They're all the same.

Being a christian means you have already agreed to believe in the supernatural so none of this is a great surprise. None of it is true of course, but not a great surprise.
-
'The One Million Dollar Paranormal Challenge was an offer by the James Randi Educational Foundation (JREF) to pay out one million U.S. dollars to anyone who could demonstrate a supernatural or paranormal ability under agreed-upon scientific testing criteria. A version of the challenge was first issued in 1964. Over a thousand people applied to take it, but none were successful. The challenge was terminated in 2015.' https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_Million_Dollar_Paranormal_Challenge I think having over 50 years to 'prove' ghosts and there not being one single, verifiable instance of ghosts or indeed ANY proven paranormal activity pretty much proves that ghosts don't exist.

Trump surrenders for historic fourth arrest

There's many reasons to 'bagging' Trump. This is just one of many. All are neccessary. What isn't neccessary is a change in the current way voting is done in the US but but like a mad scientist trying to justify his invention, you just keep banging on about how there is. One more time. This is a problem invented by Trump because he can't admit to himself nor his minions that he did in fact, lose the election. If that is not reason enough to vote ANYONE other than him for the next POTUS, then I really can't help you. -

You really need to stop beating a drum that only you can hear. The 'voter problem' has nothing to do with how it works, how it's set up, how its administered or it's overall integrity; it's entirely from Trump and his minions being REALLY bad losers and getting enough of their followers to believe his nonsense. And we have people like yourself who may not have neccesserily drunk all of the koolaid but who have been influenced enough to think there's a problem. There's no problem. Nothing needs to change. The system has worked very well for quite a long time thank you and was never brought into question when it suited Trump (2016 and all the states he won); it's only been a problem when he didn't. -

You are looking for a solution to a problem that simply doesn’t exists. Do you not think it hugely coincidental that the only time voter fraud was brought up was when Trump lost? There was no accusations when he won in 2016 and again, sheer coincidence but there is no question of voter fraud in states that Trump won. This is so obviously the workings of a bitter man who simply can’t take that he lost in 2020 and even to this day (despite 60 odd court cases proving there was no voter fraud) still claims the election was stolen. This is the power this man has over his people; even with irrefutable evidence, they still cannot accept that the most logical answer to all of this is Trump is simply lying. -

I think you might be overlooking the 60+ court cases that were brought with not ONE SINGLE piece of credible evidence that the election was stolen. If that's not 'certain' then I don't know what you people want. -
Trump decries federal ‘fascist thugs’ despite judge’s warnings
johnnybangkok replied to Social Media's topic in World News
If he gets convicted of even half the things he's accused of, the only 'big chair' he will see will be electrified. (and yes I know they don't use the electric chair in the US any more - I'm using wordplay). -
You keep telling us you're impartial and you've 'been critical of both Biden and Trump' yet I cannot recall a single time I've heard you being critical of Trump. What I have seen is your criticism of the American judicial system, your criticism of this judge and your general condescention for anything YOU deem 'liberal'. So let's have it out for all to see; 1. Do you think the 2020 election was indeed fraudulant and that Trump actually won? 2. Do you think Trump tried to overturn the 2020 election by calling it a fix and winding up his followers and pointing them in the direction of The Capitol? 3. Do you think Trump tried to recruit fake electors in swing states won by Biden, and tried to pressure Pence to delay the certification of the election or reject legitimate electors? 4. Do you think Trump paid off Stormy Daniels? If yes, do you then think he tried to hide the payment as a legitimate business expense? 5. Do you think he tried to reverse Georgia’s results in the 2020 election by asking for another 12,000 votes? 6. Do you think he illegally kept classified documents, refused to return them when he said he would and then lied to the FBI about the documents? 7. And finally, do you agree that any or all of the above constitute the legal troubles he now faces? Simple yes or no answers will do or more elaborate if you think it's better.
