  1. Just wondering if anyone here has had their child take flouride supplements to prevent tooth decay. From what I gather, pregnant mothers are supposed to take the supplements before the child's birth and afterbirth child gets a daily tablet(s) until they are 16 years old. Does anyone have experience with this? Is it possible for older children to start flouride tablets later and get benefits from them? Are there any negative side affects from taking flouride?

    Thanks for any responses.

  2. Why don't you try something different and go Esarn. Most people love Esarn food and love to have it with beer Singh or Chang and Mekong whiskey. Promoted as Esarn (Lao?) food, it's the future of Thai food abroad! Yam Saap!

  3. I honestly try to avoid people like this if possible especially people who come looking for cash. Of course I would help a friend but there are limits. We all have limits. Would you give all the money on your bank account to help someone you know fight cancer? Cancer they got from drinking too much or smoking too much? How about a relative who got cancer? Would you give all your security away? Tough decision. We all will have to make it someday. Sometimes we just have to let nature take its course.

  4. I've noticed more and more Thai people stressed out. I think it has to do with the current problems in politics here. People just don't seem to smile as much lately. It might be that they noticed they make about 200,000 baht per year, have very little savings, and lots of debt and their leader makes well over 1,000,000 baht a day and has 73,000,000,000 baht in the bank, no known debt, and other unseen-in-Thailand assets. And they thought they had it good!

    Well it's just my opineon.

  5. I believe a foreigner can only purchase a condo in specified areas. Esarn doesn't seem to be one of those areas. Some other poster should have info on this. I think the Thai government wants to make sure that all the rich people in Bangkok, Pattaya, and Phuket keep making money. But who knows I may be wrong about this. If anyone has info on this please post a link.

  6. I feel sorry for you. I wish you the best. I wish business people would do the right thing once in a while. If you weren't here you obviously weren't going to the gym. They must keep track of your attendance. If the company pursues you trying to get you to pay even though you didn't use their equipment they really are a low class establishment. I would just leave the country. Well, if the worst happens we'll at least know what that place really is. If they like to play legal games then someone should give them a taste of their own medicine. I bet there is someone who has been injured there and could take them to court. It could be that the owners of the company are lawyers.

  7. There are lots of places by the sea where you can find peace and relaxation. If you want nightlife Pattaya or Phuket are best but there is also Hua Hin. You can easily survive on 2 K a month if you eat Thai food. If you plan on staying a long time in LOS then you eventually may want to move away from the raging nightlife. So you could plan to start in Pattaya then move an hour away toward the east to a quieter seaside town. You could visit pattaya when you want the noise and toys.

  8. Billy It seems like you are doing quite well where you are. You shouldn't have a problem retiring here if the laws for foreigners residing in Thailand remain the same. Keep saving/investing as you are and you will have it good when you are here. Watch out for Thai ladies though. Way too many well off guys come here only to blow all their savings on a woman or to have a woman take it all away from them.

To be honest Billy I'd say most foreigner's savings don't compare to what you have (some have literally nothing and manage to survive here) so don't worry.

  9. I only got one gift, a big bottle of red wine. I'm happy with it; I'm a utilitarian.

My wife, countrygirl, is just learning about Christmas. We had a nice christmas with loads of gifts coming from me of course. But I think my wife and stepdaughter enjoyed the day very much. I know they will be excited come next December.

  10. I've always wondered if those little reciepts people leave at all the ATM machines were of any importance.

As for all the charges, some may be as a result of computer gliches charging others for purchases made on different accounts.

  11. Seems like a good way to tap phones as well. I don't have any problems with anyone so I'm not worried. Don't you think a politician with access to a network would like to know what some of his rivals are talking about or where they are? What else can a person get from your phone? Just an idea.

  12. If so many people believe they are reincarnated why don't they leave messages for themselves in the future.

I wonder if people who discover lost riches actually are the people who lost it?

Anyways, I myself often think I came out here to Asia for some reason. This feeling was a lot stronger in the past when I got here. I also believe that my wife is probably perfect for me even though she doesn't please me all the time/half of the time/sometimes all of the time. But we were meant for each other like two mangy dogs that stick together, fight over every meal they can scrounge, and snarl over who gets to sleep in the spot with the least fleas. Destiny feels good no matter how bad it is! This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius! Whatever that means! Yippeee!

  13. I'm too lazy to blog like a blogger.I'm not good enough with English to follow any traditional forms of usage so I just ramble. I do it for the same reason as the others. I think sometimes it comes out well. Then sometimes it is just garbage. I guess I always have a message or an opinion to express. It's probably as far as I'll ever get with any sort of publishing.

It's also a scrapbook online. Just a place to collect your ideas and share them with others without anyone knowing who you are. Well this is enough for now I should go and get some pants on before someone comes over.

  14. I thought that flourescent lights flickered so fast that you can see the flicker whereas the tungsten bulbs didn't flicker at all. I guess I am wrong? But you think the flourscent bulbs are better for the eyes.

To me they seem to omit a wierd glow rather than light like the other bulbs. I haven't had a tungsten lightbulb for years(been out here so long!) so I have no way to compare the two. It could be that when I got out here my eyes started getting weaker and this caused me to think there was a difference in the light emitted from these flourescent bulbs.

  15. Just wondering what others think of the lighting in Thailand. Most Thai homes have built in flourescent lighting. You won't find stuff like this used in many homes where I come from(US). What is better for your eyes, flourescent bulbs or the traditional light bulb( sorry i don't know the name for this type)? Any opinons?
