Does anyone know if ASTV has a website? It's the only station that has 24 hour coverage of the protests.

Great to hear when these guys get caught. I'm sure there are a lot more out there. I hope the Thai police get off their butts and really hunt these people down all across the country. No doubt some are hiding in places outside of Pattaya as well.

Just a note:

I took some VCDS from ASTV which I got at the Sanam Luang protests to my wife's village in the countryside. The VCDs are just recordings of the protests that's all. Everyone who has seen them has turned against Thaksin. As information gets out,the people are realizing what has been going on during Thaksin's time in.

Thaksin may not leave immediately but soon enough he, his clan and cronies will feel the impact of information getting to the poor people. He just never learned the difference between serving society and business. Let him go down in history as another corrupt leader.

Shingdam, 80-100 rai for 1 million seems cheap even two years ago. What part of esarn is that?

Thaksin choosing to run this elction on April 2 is totally a selfish act.

First it's two weeks before the songkran holiday so many people will not go home to the countryside to vote. They would rather use their precious little vacation time for their families. (Thaksin is a selfish pig)

Third having the election before families get together to talk about life etc keeps information that is available to people in the cities away from the the country people and so their vote again involves no consideration of the issues. My wife noted that Thaksin had never visited the rural provinces when he during his first term. He went to Chiangmai but not Esarn. So why now?

And why isn't he touring the south rallying his support there?

Wife and one friend from countryside, both have low educations and worked as textile workers before working as bargirls say go. Our Security guard was pro Thaksin until my wife sat her down for an hour or so of ASTV now she is anti-Thaksin. The security guard from Pitsanulok at my office is anti-Thaksin. My wife spoke with other guards at other buildings next to mine. One female from ChiangRai is very anti-Thaksin. She warned that my wife should be careful of the security guards at the gate to our complex as they are pro Thaksin.

My wife's brother from Surin is anti-Thaksin.

My wife's sister up country in Surin is pro-Thaksin. I would guess my brother-in-law there is too.

I plan on letting my relatives and the village upcountry see the VCDs from ASTV of the protests at Sanam Luang. I went to the protest there last Sunday. There were lots of families with kids there. It was very innocent. The only radical elements are the old Anti-Thaksin student/economic groups. Most of the people who are protesting are doing it for the first time. If you go you will see that the protesters are just everyday people.

I expect in the end Thailand will get relief from the highest power.

This protest is simple. It's against a totally corrupt leader who refuses to be accountable for his actions and uses censorship to keep information away from his own people.

Some people know the truth; be one of them.

They have become such a part of the modern world. We all know they are bad for us but most still drink on. I am as guilty as anyone.

Something definitely should be done. It would be great to have some laws written in western countries limiting the amount of sugar put into soft drinks but I'd guess business people would fight it to the death of all.

Thai food is best in the countryside. If there are any good cooks in Bangkok they usually work at expensive restaurants I would guess because the food at most of the cheaper places stinks except to those who've just steppped off the boat. Another reason why BKK food stinks is that many good cooks in Bangkok eventually move overseas to work in Thai restaurants where they are forced to water down the food. A ThaiRadio international broadcast I heard a couple years ago said there are 3,000 Thai restaurants in the US. Plus a lot of great Thai chef work in hotels abroad. It's braindrain without the brain. What should this type of braindrain be called? Chefsuction?

Anyways the best Thai food I have eaten comes from the countryside. It's still there.

Another reality in Thailand is that many young Thais do not learn to cook. I wouldn't blame McDonalds for this but I would blame MaMa Instant noodles and cheap street food. One more factor affecting the quality of Thai food is sugar. Around the world traditional foods are being altered with access to cheap sugar.

Just my opinions on this.

Most of Thailand is in the dark about Thaksin and TRT. They don't have access to all media. I would guess that a lot of posters here don't either. Another problem for posters here is getting a translation of what is actually being said. If you have access to ASTV you'll hear people continuously saying 'Aren't you afraid of dying' Most of the protestors aren't and they are inspiring more and more people to join their cause. Sanam Luang is the hub of information for this movement but it is not the only source. The people down their aren't kooks. They come from all backgrounds across the country. My wife a country woman was once of the fiercest proThaksin supports in the past. She has changed with access to information. He friends have changed. People are joining the Anti-Thaksin movement.

This isn't about the Shin deal alone. There are endless issues of corruption coming out right now. TRT members are changing ranks.

This is about corruption gone out of control. It's about censorship and accountability. How can anyone tell me that these are not important things for society?

The Thai people are starting to see the truth about Thaksin and friends.

ดร.ผาสุก กล่าวว่า การที่พ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ ชินวัตร รักษาการนายกรัฐมนตรี สามารถนำคนนับแสนมาฟังการปราศรัยเมื่อวันที่ 3 มีนาคม ที่ผ่านมา ส่วนหนึ่งเกิดจากผู้คนชื่นชมนโยบายประชานิยม หรือระบบทักษิณ และอีกส่วนหนึ่งเกิดจากอำนาจรัฐ ที่มีส่วนช่วยทำให้คนมาฟังการปราศรัยจำนวนมาก แต่ในท้ายที่สุดนโยบายประชาชานิยมของพ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ ไม่ใช่ของจริง เพราะไม่ใช่นโยบายเพื่อคนจนที่แท้จริง แต่เป็นนโยบายปกป้องสถานะเพื่อพวกมหาเศรษฐี ซึ่งระบบป้องพวกมหาเศรษฐีสร้างความสุ่มเสี่ยงต่อระบบการเมืองประชาธิปไตย และเศรษฐกิจ แต่ผู้น้อยในสังคมไทยจะมองว่าระบบประชาธิปไตยจะให้อะไรกับเขาได้บ้าง ซึ่งที่ผ่านมากลุ่มคนเหล่านี้ไม่เคยได้รับสิ่งเหล่านี้จากการเมืองไทยในอดีตมาก่อน

ดร.ผาสุก กล่าวต่อว่า แต่ต่อไปผู้น้อยเหล่านี้จะประจักษ์ว่านโยบายประชาชานิยมปกป้องเศรษฐีเป็นอันดับแรก ไม่ใช่กลุ่มผู้น้อยในสังคม ซึ่งระบบทักษิณจะไม่ยั่งยืน และในที่สุดกลุ่มผู้น้อยก็จะตั้งพรรคขึ้นมาเอง โดยไม่พึ่งพาผู้นำแบบอัศวินม้าขาว แบบทักษิณอีกต่อไป ไม่ต้องการผู้นำที่ปล้นเศรษฐกิจ สังคม และการเมืองไทย

ดร.ผาสุก กล่าวว่า สำหรับความยากในการล้มระบบทักษิณ มีปัจจัยสำคัญประกอบด้วย ภาคเศรษฐกิจนอกระบบ ได้แก่พวก เกษตรกรรายย่อย คนหาเช้ากินค่ำ แรงงานอพยพ สลัม คนทำงานโรงงาน ซึ่งคนเหล่านี้ไม่เงินประจำ โดยมีอัตราส่วน 70-75% และอัตราส่วนดังกล่าวใกล้เคียงกับอัตราส่วนของผู้ที่ออกไปใช้สิทธิเลือกตั้งสนับสนุนพ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ

"ก่อนหน้าที่พ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ จะเข้ามาเป็นนายกฯ กลุ่มคนเหล่านี้ไม่เคยได้ประโยชน์อะไรจากรัฐบาลที่ผ่านมา ให้เพียงคำสัญญา แต่พ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ ดูเหมือนจะสามารถเข้าใจ และจัดการกับคนเหล่านี้ได้ จะเห็นได้จากกลุ่มสมัชชาคนจนไม่ได้ร่วมเคลื่อนไหวกับกลุ่มพันธมิตรประชาชนเพื่อประชาธิปไตย แต่ขอเจรจาแยกส่วนออกมาต่างหาก ขณะที่กลุ่มชนชั้นกลางคิดว่าจะผลัก พ.ต.ท.ทักษิณออกไปได้เหมือนอดีตที่เคยผลักผู้นำเผด็จการทหาร แต่ผู้นำเผด็จการทหารเหล่านั้นไม่ได้รับแรงสนับสนุนจากมวลชนเหมือนที่พ.ต.ท.ทักษิณมี " ดร.ผาสุก กล่าว

ดร.ผาสุก กล่าวต่อว่า สำหรับวิกฤติความชอบธรรมที่กำลังเกิดขึ้นของรัฐบาลทักษิณ โดยเน้นไปที่เรื่องจริยธรรม จะเห็นว่าการที่คนจำนวนมาก ในปี 2544 เคยยอมรับและคาดหวังว่าพ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ จะมาช่วยปกป้องจากทุนนิยมสุดขั้วที่ทำลายสังคมไทย แต่บัดนี้กลุ่มคนเหล่านี้ออกมาปฎิเสธพ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ เพราะไม่ยอมรับค่านิยมธุรกิจขนาดใหญ่ เพราะกลายเป็นทุนนิยมผูกขาด ที่ให้ต่างชาติเข้าครอบงำเศรษฐกิจไทย

"การขายหุ้นชินคอร์ปฯ ทำให้เห็นชัดเจนว่าคุณทักษิณเป็นายทุนใหญ่ที่สนับสนุนระบบโลกาภิวัฒน์ ยังไม่รวมถึงกรณีการขาดจริยธรรม พร้อมทำผิดกฎหมายโดยคุณทักษิณคิดว่าอำนาจของตัวเองทำให้ตนหลุดจากการค้นพบว่าตนทำผิดกฎหมาย" ดร.ผาสุก กล่าว

ดร.ผาสุก กล่าวว่า การที่กลุ่มคนที่เคยลงคะแนนให้พ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ ไม่ยอมรับธุรกิจขนาดใหญ่ ซึ่งเอื้อให้ต่างชาติเข้ามาครอบงำหรือโครงการเมกกะโปรเจกของรัฐบาลที่ทำประเทศในเอเชียสนใจที่จะมาลงทุนในประเทศไทยก็จะรู้สึกเสียดายหากไม่มีพ.ต.ท.ทักษิณเป็นนายกฯ เพราะจะทำให้ประเทศเหล่านั้นพลาดโอกาสในการลงทุนเมกกะโปรเจกในไทย ตรงนี้จึงเป็นแรงหนุนให้พ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ อยู่ต่อ

ดร.ผาสุก กล่าวต่อว่า การเลือกตั้งที่กำลังจะเกิดขึ้นครั้งนี้ไม่ใช่การเลือกตั้งธรรมดา จะเป็นการลงประชามติเกี่ยวกับพ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ เพราะพ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ ได้ประกาศต่อประชาชนที่ท้องสนามหลวงว่าถ้าพรรคไทยรักไทยได้คะแนนไม่ถึง 50% จะไม่เป็นนายกฯ และบอกว่าจะปฎิรูปรัฐธรรมนูญภายใน 9-15 เดือน และขอให้คนไปเลือกตั้งและที่พ.ต.ท.ทักษิณไม่ยอมลาออกอย่างแน่นอน เพราะมันเกี่ยวข้องกับพ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ และคนในครอบครัว รวมทั้งข้าราชการที่หาช่องไม่ให้พ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ ผิดกฎหมาย ต้องพากันล้มระเนระนาดไปด้วย ทำให้พ.ต.ท.ทักษิณสู้หัวชนฝา และต้องการควบคุมการปฎิรูปการเมือง เพราะพ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ เชื่อว่าเงินซื้อทุกอย่างได้ อย่างที่เคยซื้อ ส.ส.,ส.ว.และผู้พิพากษาบางคนมาแล้วด้วย ดังนั้น จะมีอะไรมารับประกันว่าการปฎิรูปการเมืองจะไม่ถูกพ.ต.ท.ทักษิณซื้อไปด้วย

"ประเด็นจริยธรรมที่กำลังหยิบยกมาพูดกันในขณะนี้แรงไม่พอ เท่ากับการพิสูจน์การทำผิดกฎหมายซึ่งพิสูจน์ไม่ได้ตราบใดที่พ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ ยังอยู่ในอำนาจ เนื่องจากพ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ ยังไม่ได้รับการพิสูจน์ว่าทำผิดกฎหมายและมีมวลชนหนุนอยู่มาก ทำให้สามารถใช้วิธีประชาธิปไตยแก้ปัญหาต่อไปได้ แม้ว่ากลุ่มเศรษฐีจะไม่ได้ซาบซึ้งกับกระบวนการประชาธิปไตยเลย แต่สามารถนำกระบวนการประชาธิปไตยมาใช้ประโยชน์ เพื่อเข้าสู่อำนาจ" ดร.ผาสุก กล่าว

ดร.ผาสุก กล่าวว่า ที่กล่าวมาทั้งหมดไม่อยากให้เข้าใจว่าสนับสนุนพ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ ไม่ให้ออกจากตำแหน่ง แต่วิธีการทำให้ออกเป็นอย่างไรเป็นอีกเรื่อง แต่ในขณะนี้พ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ ยังสามารถถูไถต่อไปได้ในกรอบเวลาหนึ่ง แต่การจะให้พ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ ออกต้องมีกลุ่มนักธุรกิจขนาดใหญ่ที่เป็นตัวจริงร่วมมาขับไล่พ.ต.ท.ทักษิณด้วย เมื่อถึงเวลานั้นแม้จะถูไถไปได้ก็อาจอยู่ไม่รอด แม้จะไม่เกิดอุบัติเหตุใดๆ ก็ตาม

ดร.อัมมาร กล่าวว่า พ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ คงถูไถต่อไปได้ตามกรอบของรัฐธรรมนูญ ในระยะเวลา 6 เดือนถึง 1 ปี พ.ต.ท.ทักษิณยังสามารถฝ่าไปได้ เพราะคนจนได้รับการดูแล โดยการออกนโยบายเน้นให้ประโยชน์กับคนทั่วประเทศ เช่น การพักชำระหนี้ 30 บาทรักษาทุกโรค ทำให้พรรคไทยรักไทยได้รับความนิยม ซึ่งทำให้กลุ่มคนระดับปัญญาชนที่ไม่ต้องการพ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ รู้สึกกระอักกระอ่วนในการสู้กับมหาชน เพราะประเด็นจริยธรรมมันขายไม่ออก แต่ปัจจุบันพ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ กำลังทำการเมืองเหมือนสมัยก่อน สัญญามั่วไปหมด เพราะตอนนี้รัฐบาลไม่มีเงิน เห็นได้จากหลายโครงการเริ่มถอย แต่กว่าจะรู้ก็กินเวลานาน เวลานี้เศรษฐกิจเริ่มหนืด

นอกจากนี้ ดร.อัมมาร กล่าวว่า ภาคธุรกิจถ้าจะโดดลงมาร่วมวงกับกลุ่มพันธมิตรฯ ก็ต้องแน่ใจว่าพ.ต.ท.ทักษิณมีแนวโน้มจะออกแน่นอน แต่ที่ผ่านมาภาคธุรกิจไม่ออกมาต้านพ.ต.ท.ทักษิณเลย เพราะถ้าพ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ ไม่ล้มกลุ่มธุรกิจก็จะถูกเล่นงานกลับ ดังนั้น ต้องมีพลังมากพอจึงจะทำให้พ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ ลาออก

"ลองคิดทางเลือกสำหรับพ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ คิดว่ายุบสภาเป็นไม้ตายแรก จากนั้นต้องคิดว่าหลังเลือกตั้งคุณทักษิณจะทำอะไรอะไรบ้าง หากมีกลุ่มพันธมิตรฯ ยังออกมาเคลื่อนไหวต่อต้านเขาอยู่ ซึ่งดูจากนิสัยคุณทักษิณคงไม่หงอ เพราะซีอีโอก็คือซีอีโอ เพื่อให้งานเดินต่อไปได้ และมั่นใจว่าคุณทักษิณไม่ออกอย่างเชื่องๆ ดันต่อไปเพราะเครื่องมือรัฐบาลมีมาก นอกจากนี้ ยังเชื่อว่าหากจะมีทหารออกมาล้มคุณทักษิณก็คงไม่มีใครออกมาต่อต้านการกระทำของทหาร" ดร.อัมมาร กล่าว

ดร.เอนก กล่าวว่า ไม่คิดว่าทฤษฏี 2 นคราประชาธิปไตยจะมาถึงเร็ว ตอนนี้คนเมืองชุมนุมให้พ.ต.ท.ทักษิณลาออกทั้งในกรุงเทพฯ และต่างจังหวัด ที่ว่า พ.ต.ท.ทักษิณได้รับการยอมรับจากคนชนบทนั้น แต่ตนเห็นว่าคนชนบทไม่ได้มีบทบาทกับการเมืองแบบนี้ในช่วงนี้ เพราะคนชนบทจะมีบทบาทเฉพาะช่วงเลือกตั้งเท่านั้น จึงมองว่าอนาคตรัฐบาลถึงทางตัน เพราะในสภามีเพียงพรรคเดียวทำให้รัฐบาลถูกต่อต้านตั้งแต่แรก ขณะนี้ยังพอวิ่งได้บ้างแต่ทางตัน ดังนั้นเดี๋ยวก็ตันอยู่ดี เพราะถนนที่พ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ กำลังวิ่งมันตัน สิ่งที่พ.ต.ท.ทักษิณกลัว คือ การไม่ได้รักษาการนายกฯ กลัวคนภายนอกซึ่งไม่ใช่คนในคณะรัฐมนตรีขึ้นมารักษาการแทน กลัวถูกยึดทรัพย์

"คุณทักษิณ จึงไปหา"ผู้ใหญ่"เพื่อหาหลักประกันว่า ถ้ายอมลาออกจะไม่ถูกยึดทรัพย์ แต่ผู้ใหญ่คนดังกล่าวบอกว่าไม่สามารถให้หลักประกันอะไรได้คุณทักษิณ จึงหมดทางเลือก และเชื่อกลุ่มจงรักภักดีที่อยู่กับตน แต่เงินไม่สามารถซื้อได้ทุกอย่าง บางครั้งเงินก็มาผิดเวลา ในอดีตผมไม่เคยเห็นราชสกุลนับ 10 คน ลงชื่อในฎีกาเพื่อขอนายกฯพระราชทาน อย่างที่กำลังเกิดขึ้นในขณะนี้มาก่อน ดังนั้นถ้าจะสู้กับคุณทักษิณต้องสู้ด้วยความดีงาม ความถูกต้อง จะเห็นว่าขณะนี้การต่อสู้สันติวิธีมากขึ้น มวลชนแปลกไปจากการเคลื่อนไหวในอดีต มีการระมัดระวังมากขึ้น ตำรวจยกระดับหลบกลุ่มมวลชน ทหารอยู่ในกรมกองมากขึ้น ดังนั้น จึงเชื่อว่าจะไม่เกิดเหตุการณ์อย่าง"พฤษภาทมิฬ "ซึ่งในทางยุทธศาสตร์ รัฐบาลระบอบทักษิณหมดไปนานแล้ว แต่ตัวทักษิณยังอยู่ หลังสังคมตื่นต้องทำอะไรให้มากขึ้น และเชื่อมั่นว่าคุณทักษิณอยู่ได้ไม่นาน" ดร.เอนก กล่าว

ดร.เอนก กล่าวว่า ถ้า พ.ต.ท.ทักษิณต้องการให้ประชาชนยอมรับ เมื่อผ่านการเลือกตั้งครั้งนี้ไปแล้วจะต้องรีบแก้ไขรัฐธรรมนูญแล้วยุบสภา เพื่อให้ฝ่ายค้านเข้ามาร่วมลงเลือกตั้ง ถ้าไม่ทำเช่นนี้กลุ่มพันธมิตรฯ ซึ่งชุมนุมโดยสงบก็จะมีปฎิกิริยารุนแรงขึ้น เช่นปิดล้อมทำเนียบฯ

ต่อข้อถามที่ว่าหากจะล้มพ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ จะเกิดคนระดับรากหญ้าออกมาปกป้องพ.ต.ท.ทักษิณและต่อต้านกลุ่มคนที่ออกมาขับไล่พ.ต.ท.ทักษิณหรือไม่ ดร.เอนก กล่าวว่า ตนไม่เชื่อว่าคนระดับรากหญ้าจะออกมาต่อต้าน เพราะคนกลุ่มนี้ไม่ติดยึดที่ตัวบุคคล เพียงแค่ต้องการเพียงแค่การดำรงชีวิตที่ดีขึ้นเท่านั้น

ด้าน นายโคทม กล่าวว่า ที่พ.ต.ท.ทักษิณบอกว่า ถอยจนเข้ามุมแล้ว เหมือนกำหนดให้คนอื่นเดินตามหรือเบี่ยงเบนประเด็น อย่างเช่น รัฐธรรมนูญ มาตรา 214 เป็นเรื่องเกี่ยวกับการลงประชามติเกี่ยวกับนโยบายต่างๆ แต่ที่พ.ต.ท.ทักษิณกำลังนำมาใช้ในการเลือกตั้งวันที่ 2เมษายน คือ การลงประชามติเกี่ยวกับตัวบุคคล ซึ่งทำไม่ได้

"สมมุติถ้าการเลือกตั้งวันที่ 2 เมษายน มีคนไปเลือกตั้ง 70% หรือ 30 ล้านคน ซึ่งจากสถิติที่ผ่านมา 2 ครั้งก็มีคนมาใช้สิทธิประมาณนี้ ซึ่งครั้งนี้คุณทักษิณบอกว่า หากพรรคไทยรักไทยได้คะแนนไม่ถึงครึ่งของผู้ออกมาใช้สิทธิลงคะแนน ก็จะไม่เป็นนายกฯ ก็คือประมาณ 15 ล้านเสียง ซึ่งครั้งที่แล้วพรรคไทยรักไทยได้ 19 ล้านเสียง การเกณฑ์คนมาลงคะแนนแบบไม่ลงคะแนนให้ใครทำได้ยากกว่า การเกณฑ์คนมาลงคะแนนให้กับคนหนึ่งคนใดเสียอีก" นายโคทม กล่าว

นายโคทม กล่าวว่า การต่อสู้จะยืดเยื้อยกเว้นเจออุบัติเหตุอื่น รัฐบาล พ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ จะสามารถบริหารต่อไปได้แต่ลำบาก ต่างฝ่ายต่างเดินซึ่งที่จริง น่าจะหันหน้าเข้าหากัน ไม่ใช่เดินหน้าฝ่ายเดียว ซึ่งพ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ ขาดการฟัง ขาดความสม่ำเสมอเป็นคนมีหลายบุคลลิก เราควรนำ "ทฤษฏีเกมส์"มาใช้บ้าง โดยการมองว่าพ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ จะคิดและกำลังทำอะไรต่อไป ที่ผ่านมาพ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ เป็นทรราชย์มาตลอด เช่นการนำระบบ ซีอีโอมาใช้ และการที่พ.ต.ท.ทักษิณไม่ฟังใคร ยกเว้นคนใกล้ชิด

ส่วน นายชัยวัฒน์ กล่าวว่า ส่วนตัวเห็นว่าถึงอย่างไรพ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ ก็ต้องออก เหตุผลที่ต้องออก คือ สิ่งที่กำลังเกิดขึ้น หรือที่กลุ่มพันธมิตรฯ ใช้คำว่า "อารยะขัดขืน" หรือที่หลายคนเรียกว่าดื้อแพ่ง ปัจจุบันสังคมไทยใกล้ศีลธรรม ดังนั้นสิ่งที่พ.ต.ท.ทักษิณทำภายใต้เงื่อนไขประชาธิปไตย แม้ว่ามีคนในสังคมไม่ชอบพ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ แต่พ.ต.ท.ทักษิณก็ยังสามารถอยู่ได้ นอกจากนี้สังคมได้มีเกณฑ์หลายอย่างปะทะกัน พรรคไทยรักไทยพยายามผลักดันให้มีการเลือกตั้ง เพราะรู้ว่าตัวเองได้เปรียบ แ

Living in Bangkok, I have seen prices rising for a few years. But in the past six months the changes are really starting to show. Just today I jumped on a non air bus and was surprised to see a higher priced ticket. . It was five baht a few years ago. Today the new tickets are stamped 8 baht. I took the bus only about a kilometer to a place where I could get a taxi. Eigth baht is not a lot of money for me but for some of the poor people that little bit will take away a lot of money especially if they have to jump on and off buses to go here and there throughout the day. Lots of things seem expensive nowadays. I wrote in a different thread, Lotus seems to have hiked a lot of its prices as well. Wine prices seem to be outrageous compared to a year a ago. I think a lot of increases are working their way into the prices of everyday products. As prices increase and people feel the pinch. Workers will want more and small businesses will have to increase their prices. The price of gas in Thailand is up or going up to.

The main issue behind the protests comes to the PM using censorship to stop the publics from criticizing his and his party's actions. If you don't know this by now you should open your eyes. Some posters who live up country really are in the dark about what Thais are saying because there is no publication in Thai or English of what's going on in the protests. Some inofrmation is getting through but its coming through strange channels and to only people who have access to those channels. The mainstream media never questions why the protests are happening. They just selectively show clips of people at the protests and what they say.

If you have ASTV (which most people don't) you'll know that many of ASTVs staff comes from ITVs old and more popular staff. ITV is(was?) owned by Thaksin. Anyways most of ASTVs reporters were fired for critizing the government, the very thing that made ITV popular before Thaksin got to power. Once he got in he shut down the press which is why so many posters blindly support him(literally).

Many of you don't know what is going on because you are out of the loop or not aware of Thai history and the figures who have and do influence it.

I am happy to say that soon Thaksin is going. Everyday there are more and more people who are against him speaking up. (It's hard for Thais to speak up) If you remember the influential monk who pool gold reall gold to help pay off Thailand's debt to the IMF, well, you are informed that he too is against Thaksin. He came across ASTV with a message that he is against Thaksin. He said Thaksin has finished eating out the insides of Thailand. He got average Thais to donate money towards resolving Thailand's debt miliions and millions of dollars of working Thais money for doing good. What happens in the end? It seems that the money was given to Thaksin himself in the form of a wonderful tax-free sale. Well, anyways the army against Thaksin, family, and cronies is growing. Something is going to happen soon. Not everyone can see the truth. Join the resistance while you still can. There will be no compromise. Thaksin is out. Freedom and democracy struggle on.

Thaksin is absolutely a criminal. That's a word that just doesn't seem to come up. He should be booted from office. He has exploited Thailand from day one with his companies. He has recieved so many tax breaks and special exceptions for his comapnies along the way and in the end he screws over the people to take even more. He and his family deserve nothing now. They would be smart to leave this country. Thaksin staying on driving the people to the edge of violence just goes to show how selfish a pig he is.

As for those of you who want to keep him in I can't understand you unless you support oppressive governments. Lots of people love Marcos still. Lots of people love Singapores ridiculous laws. Lots of people loved Mao, Stalin, Hitler, George Bush, all of the people who see taking away choice and information as a way to keep the world a wonderful place. Don't respond to this as this information should be censored. You can't know the truth. Don't think just follow.

Thaksin like Hitler is happy to ruin the future of his people and even his own family for his own cause.

This is really heading to dangerous waters. The anger that exists in the hearts of some Thai people is hair-trigger. If he doesn't do something leaderly soon Thailand is going to explode.

One note:

For poor countrypeople

they have to choose whether to go home to vote on April 2 or to go home for the traditional family holiday on Songran April 13.

That's a tough choice for the workers away from their home provinces who don't have much to look forward to during the year. They'll choose Songkran which means most of the people who will vote on April 2 will be people who are in the countryside already and those people have the least access to information about what is going on.

Thaksin and TRT(Take Riches from Thailand) are rotten to the core.

You can take the girl out of the countryside but you can't take the countryside out of the girl.

My wife used to work in a restaurant. I mean foodshop. Well, it was kind of like a take-out shop but they only served drinks. I guess she was a bar worker. Sex worker? She used to say smile and say " Hello, how are you?"

Okay, my wife was a bargirl of course. She was never a wild bargirl jumping up and down getting sloshed all the time and she didn't dress like a skank. She's really just an average countrygirl. In terms of personality, she's a bit boring like me. She worked there for a year after working most of her life in clothing factories. Of course, she had some experiences with other guys before she met me. On the other hand, I had quite a few experiences with the ladies before I met her myself. We make a good pair in many ways.

There are so many people out there who are suffering from diseases and conditions whose lives could be improved if they just knew a bit more. Are we really in the information age?

There's no excuse for foreign beggars. If they really have a problem they should be able to get help from their embassy. I would hope that Thailand would get its act together and deny them access to the country if the are caught doing something like this again. Thailand should ban a lot of people from entering this country.

qurkle, why do you have so much anger? Are you rich or poor?

Is the fear of losing your wealth and easy living (easy expolitation) stressing you out? I would bet that you want to keep things the way they have been? Does your wife wai your feet before going to bed? (Or do you wai your husbands feet before bed?) Does your maid clip your toenails for you?

Or is it the other way around? You are poor. You got lucky and got a wonderful education from the government allowing you to converse in fluent English. You like being poor; don't worry about having anything as all poor people do. You don't care about your children getting a good education. In fact you'll be happy enough to see your daughter clipping those wilting toenails off some old koon ying. Life really is wonderful for you. But then why are you so angry? Fear of change?

Everyone should just be happy happy happy.
