  1. I got mine at Amorn..digital, goes up to 180 Kg,,was about 300 TBH. Pretty standard disc battery can be replaced for 20 THB. My scale is the clear glass style. It appears that Michael Moore discovered so many fans in CM; he has relocated here.

  2. I went to Santitham last night. I hadn't been there in months. It was bustling as much as ever. Lots of mom/pops, and lots of bars. Promos and promo girls. Beer prices less than even Makro. I did a night cap on Numman soi 7....probably should have just skipped it. They even gave me a nice cracked glass with my beer that was 60% more than I was paying thirty minutes earlier, and there was about 1/7th the talent on Nimman. Like night and day. One was the old CM; the other was martial law. I haven't been to LK lately, but I'm hypothesizing that this has to do with some very expensive real estate, and the plans for that real estate. There is a plan in place for LK and Nimman...and lots of cheap beer and beautifully slutty girls is not part of that plan. Using the police to chase people of of precious land is as old as Moses. Regarding Chicog's comments about Phuket, and its demise, that pretty much describes what was once a decent strip of action in Chiang Rai, which is now in the same half closed, half boarded up, mostly dead state...someone has decided that the future will be catering to various East Asians. In my younger days, I was very loyal to one bar, and one brand of beer...my attitude now is to always check out the competition, have a few places to be a regular, enjoy the Hell out of good promos, but be ready for the day, when you go back and they act like it never happened, or the business is a pile of broken concrete with a condo sales office in front. MJ's reports on Santitham were 100% true...my advice would be to check it out, and don't drive. I generally will invite people here and there to join me, but many of the farang are just way too uncomfortable to be out of their western shadows. so it's just not worth it, don't need any favors by someone having to go through the pain of 50 THB large Tigers with a dozen young rice queens.

  3. bangmai sez: "I mailed mine in a week ago, It still didn't come back today."

Same here. EMS received at im Dec 2. I hope it is due to the holiday.

Mine received on 4th, morning. Nowt back yet....

My online worked like a charm...less than two hours....maybe that would indicate the mailed one hasn't been processed...oh well, if the other one comes, I just use the most current. BTW, Win 7...completely legit w/ all fixes, most recent IE, and a 6 year old HP computer. My print shop, who can do everything, couldn't print it, so I came back home and just saved the PDF to a thumb drive.

  4. I mailed mine in a week ago, It still didn't come back today. I decided to give online a try. Worked much better than before. My app is "Pending." This should be more fun than a barrel of monkeys. If my mail one arrives I will just cancel it, If I get approved online, I will print and just use that one. Do they approve after normal working hours?

  5. The problem is going to be getting rid of what is there...then you can use a stain, oil, or sealant method, but not on top of something that was improperly used. A deck made of pressure treated wood and properly stained/sealed will last approx. 20 years here. The best quality porch paint that works on wood, will start showing wear in two years, and will need to be repainted in five. There are many different situations. Painted decking around a pool is going to be a fail, though. You would want to use a fake wood, that has the color built in, and it's more expensive than real wood.

  6. It took me two hours to get a full refund from Lazada...I just notified my credit card company on its website. I had a refund in two hours. It was fairly easy to get a return slip from the Lazada. but still; 60 days? I sent it in, and did get a refund, in about three weeks, then I got another credit on my card...that is a sleeping dog I let lay. So, apparently their billing department isn't real efficient. It seems like these "affiliates" are the source of a lot of problems....same with Amazon. I did well with Bangood.

  7. big Mormon factor in Mesa, and the affordable housing is overrun with Mexicans and white trash. It does have the Light Rail, now. Tempe is overrated and has a big bar scene focused on a much younger crowd. complete with fake IDs and piles of puke. Rent is somewhat higher, too. Glendale is in fiscal trouble from the hockey arena, and will be for decades, it also seemed to attract a lot of the expanding African American population...generally, you will think you are just in West Phoenix, but you might be in Glendale. I worked for a school district that was partly in both. Look at the more affordable areas along the North Phoenix Light Rail extension..19th Ave, zip 85021.

  8. Sinet is offering me 15/5 for what I am paying 3bb for 10/1 service. I like 3bb, and would hate to start having trouble. In the US, you can often negotiate a better price with your cable. satellite/internet provider by calling up to cancel. Out of nowhere, they will offer you a promo rate, or match the competitor;s offer. Has anyone gotten an unadvertised break in Thailand? Is it worth a try?

  9. You can enter any address in the US in this website and see what the flood risk is....https://www.floodsmart.gov/floodsmart/

The house in Noglaes is the best "low to moderate." This really effects people, who need mortgages to buy, as a higher flood risk will require you to have flood insurance, and could make your homeowners insurance 3000 per year, instead of 400. Even if it is a 100 year flood zone, which is a lot of BKK and Chiang Mai; it is still a deal killer. I was looking in Alamagordo, NM, and every house I looked at was high risk.

  10. So you got a steal. Excellent. I know those days are over.

Another thing that concerns me is that baby boomers are already "retiring" in droves (many not by choice) and Phoenix and places like it are going to be attractive to them. Supply and demand. Demand will go up. Not good if you haven't bought something already (if you're going to buy at all).

It was appraised at 135K in late 2007, as prices were already in decline. Wells Fargo lent the guy 70% of that, and he became in default for 95K. I actually bought it while at an internet shop in Chiang Rai, without physically looking at it. I knew it was a no flood zone and also on good soil for building, unlike most of the newer subdivisions (expansive clay soil).

Here is 35K in Nogales...5 minute walk to Duty Fee...and it just came on the market... http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/561-W-Elm-St_Nogales_AZ_85621_M12908-24887?row=1

  11. As pictured. it would have rented for 600, with many applicants...Today, it would sell for 60K, and possibly 70K, without the house on it. A lot of equal size with an even older house sold for 99K in 2006, and was demolished.

"North Central" is a well known area in PHX where it is pretty mixed income wise, with a great location. More convenient without the pretentiousness of Scottsdale. It is about five zip codes. Mine was 85014. http://northcentralnews.net/

Here is some info on the many historic districts: http://historicphoenix.com/historic-districts/north-central-corridor/index.html

  12. Jusy 110 miles north of Phoenix is Prescott. When 110f in Phoenix it's 90 f in Prescott surrounded by mountains that are 80f.

I like Verde Valley as it has a nice year round climate with some inexpensive housing.

True, but wages in Prescott and Flagstaff are pathetic, if you can find work, at all. A pretty big meth trade in Prescott, as well. Nogales will give you a similar relief to the heat..about 15 degrees F, even Tucson will give you about 10 degrees. I'm a little confused, the OP is making plans to be on Medicaid as well as looking for a vacation home at the same time.

I bought this house in Phoenix in 2010. A 10 minute walk to the Light Rail. 18,000 USD.
