You are not in a country village in the UK,or the US.
Grow up and sell your bike! This is Thailand!!

Very sad. Heart goes out to him.
But if 'twas me, I 'd rather be in a Home in Thailand than the US, or Europe. Food & weather much nicer, and perchance the People more caring. Value for money??

UbonJoe is - IMHO - the Guru and Oracle of visas and so on, but ImaFarang also has sensible and practical advice.

You sound a bit paranoid - calm down!
-
Me too - and the wretched adverts that come up with noise-noise-noise - and you can't shut them down unless you exit the site.

Try Canada Post guys. And weep.
Pitiful.
80% is junk mail too. They do not care a row of beans either.

Spot on - I worked for a top airline, and I used to see the Red Cross and Save the Children"execs" and their fat-cat "Entourages" flying in biz and first - and staying in 5 star hotels.
SallyAnns and also Rotary are the only ones I'd cough up for.

Several guys I know, who seemed to be happily married, got onto Facebook and then went to school reunions, and hey presto - off they went with "childhood sweethearts".
,
And more than one lived to regret it too.
About 30 or so years ago the "Torygraph", or maybe it was the - Screws of the World, I forget - of London, did a survey on people who had been married before, and got divorced and then re-married, men and women.
About 80% (I seem to recall) said they wished they'd stuck with the first spouse!
Ho ho!!

Agree with Tonray 100%.
Soft on drugs? Spare me. TPI has no idea at all.

Unbelievable. In the name of "religion".
And where else does this horror go on - we might ask.
-
My goodness, we think you are doing OK.
With one aircon on all night (the bedroom), another (the TV room) just sporadically - as well as a pool, we go thro' about 8,000 baht a month. It is indeed costly, but not prohibitive.

Pgharmm has it spot on.

VBF/Gamini etc have it spot on.
Diving is fun, but all the hassle and kit and safety ------- and the rest.
We did it all, PADI, Maldives, West Indies, Gili (off Lombok) and so on - but in the end, snorkelling is sooooooo much easier, safer - and pretty well often as much fun. We (memsahib et mwah) will never dive again.

Universal problem Mates!
The Brits (I am one so I can rant) are the worst perhaps. Freeloaders par excellence. Always after sumtin' - bed/board/freebies. They think talking you out for a cheap meal after 2 weeks of milking you wipes the slate clean. Only get in touch if they want something.
Spare me from them. Not all of course - but a goodly number of them.

Thai food is much better. No typhoons. Thai people are very nice - but so are the Filipinos. Give it a try here - see how you feel. You never know till you go...
-
Try this - if you can get it in Thailand......Mild and effective.

Sounds like a right twit. What a silly question. As one contributor says, Google has all kinds of info' on this lovely island. Much better than Bali, the West Indies, Hawaii - but avoid Patong - even the Thais loathe it.

Do y'all not know that all gals are Control Freaks?
Amazing you do not seem to have fathomed it. Trust me!!!

Fantastic snaps - well composed and very beautiful.
Well Done.
A new Karsh of Thailand.

LIVINLOS is pretty well spot on.
The ICU in say the Phuket International hospital can cost 100,000 baht per day for some crises.
So....be sure you are covered........What seems like an expensive premium might look cheap if one is struck down.

We had pals in Phuket, they moved to C'Mai and they came back after 3 years, as the smoke from the fires (three times a year they said) was affecting the health of their kids. And the wife is Thai.

Tipping medical people?
You have to be kidding.

Day trading.......a recipe for disaster.
Unless you know what you are doing avoid it like the plague. It's akin to poker on line.

Try going to Russia and see what many of them are like there Mate. S'what 80 years of communism does.
Tell your landlord but looks like you'll have to move.
Visa run to Langkawi

Has anyone done a visa run from Phuket - we have heard you can drive down and take the ferry? End of January is the Plan!
Any good places to stay for a day or two? Any advice on accommodation/things to do etc. etc. would be much appreciated.
