What harm does it cause besides being 'absurd' to certain people?

Cloth face coverings are recommended as a simple barrier to help prevent respiratory droplets from traveling into the air and onto other people when the person wearing the cloth face covering coughs, sneezes, talks, or raises their voice. This is called source control. This recommendation is based on what we know about the role respiratory droplets play in the spread of the virus that causes COVID-19, paired with emerging evidence from clinical and laboratory studies that shows cloth face coverings reduce the spray of droplets when worn over the nose and mouth. COVID-19 spreads mainly among people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet), so the use of cloth face coverings is particularly important in settings where people are close to each other or where social distancing is difficult to maintain. I've no idea if the Thai govt is faking the numbers or not. I do know from the world tracking web sites there are over 12 million cases and 550,000 deaths so far this week so not masking up anywhere in the world is the height of irresponsibility. Most Thais where I stay get it and mask up.

my property is large and if a buyer comes around I want it to be speckless clean, so it is not a matter of going with a mop over the floor.

I wouldn't worry about 'speckless clean' or you'll be forever cleaning whilst waiting for that elusive serious buyer. Sod them, if they are serious serious buyers can fix the broken bits and dirty places themselves, or you can once a substantial deposit is made, otherwise just enjoy living there yourself.

I remove the filters and clean, let them dry and replace them

Same here, did mine this morning. Cleaning the filters, just four parts to slide out, wash and replace. Sprayed a bit of PTFE to stop the dusty squeaks. Job done in 5 minutes.

willing to pay the 1,200 baht

I don't understand why anyone would pay that money to see a movie that's been available for download for months already, and at a distance in a car park with a pipe sticking in your car window? I expect the popcorn and soft drink waiters were masked up to hide their blushes at the extortion.

our fault mate! its always the victims fault here, especially when said victim is a foreigner!!

You come across as a victim in your own imagination. Bars have just come out of 3 months of closure, will be feeling the pinch, and don't need the extra hassle of someone calling a manager over 50THB that isn't even written on the menu or the attitude as quoted above. Cheer up, it could have been worse, you could have played like Alisson Bekker last night.

What would other members do in this situation?

Absolutely give the GF a warning that her response is unacceptable. Either she ordered wrongly or the cook made a mistake. In no way is "although farangs did this it was not good manners in Thailand" is an acceptable get out clause by blaming you.. her days are numbered with you.

Thanks UJoe that is very helpful. Forgot about the COE. I will already have a re entry permit, so need to get COE at an embassy as well means I will stay with the retirement extension for time being I think.

    Appreciate the link thanks.

  9. Hi,

My annual NonO extension is due next month in Thailand, so would I be better to change reason of extension to marriage to increase my chances of travel abroad to work again and get back in? I read only married expats being allowed in and not retirees? I'd prefer to stay on retirement extensions if it makes no difference as less hassle for me, the wife and kids.

How is this married expats permission to travel into Thailand to be vetted at airports, are correct visa extension types needed or just a copy of marriage cert OK with any visa?

    Cheers.

tell me if i am wrong.

    You were wrong.

Posting under the influence on the internet never a good idea. Hopefully it was a one off and you don't have a drink problem and do it often. It was spiteful and could get you in trouble. Like others said you should have just taken it up with the establishment and not spread the news globally - that can get you in defamation trouble in Thailand.
