  1. I got the info from Samut Prakan Immigration and they told me for 1st timers for extension of visa based on marriage you need to have 400k in Bank account for 3 months n not 2 months.

there might be different requirements at different immigrations. I would advise to call in before you make a trip down as that might save you some time.

if your visa is expiring soon before your money in your account can be 3months you can always go down to the immigration and talk to them. they will extend your tourist visa accordingly without u needing to go out of the country. just bring your marriage certificates and bank statement showing you have indeed the money in your bank and am just waiting for the day to come to extend your marriage visa. Talk to the officers nicely and bring your wife or someone who speaks thai fluently to help u out if you can.

I was offered this option cos I can only apply for marriage visa in august but my tourist visa of 90 days will expire before that and the Officer says no problem they will extend my tourist visa for me even if it expires without me needing to leave the country.

  2. Singapore is strict but if you have all the right documents you can have a tourist visa no problem

Documents that are compulsory. Proof of 20,000 baht or equivalent in Bank account. Copies of your updated Bank Book and money in account will do.

Travel air tickets in and out of Thailand within 60 days.

other than that your passport, ID card. passport photos.

1 thing to note. if u have been in and out of Thailand regularly on tourist visa or tourist exemption back to back like 3-4 times. I suggest u avoid Singapore becos they will reject you on the spot citing u r too frequent a visitor and might be working illegally. I've seen ppl get rejected b4 and it doesn't matter what passport you hold UK or USA they will reject u.

    hope this info helps

  3. depends on where u r applying your marriage visa from. For eg. I went to Samut Prakan Immigration and I was informed for 1st timer its 3 months you need to have a balance of equal or more than 400k THB in your bank account going back from the day u are applying.

This statement needs to be issued and verified by the Bank.

There r other documents needed as well.

The best is to make sure I feel is to go down to the immigration wherever that is u r going to apply and enquire b4 u go down so u don't make any wasted trips or get in touch with someone who has experience or maybe hire an agent even.

Best of luck. I am applying for my marriage visa in 2 months time.

  4. I just called n Check today. The immigration office says to go with just passport n departure card.

Thats all. No need for proof of address. I will bring my rental bills n bank letters which r address to my condo just in case as I misplaced my rental agreement.

Will go down tomorrow. Yes I m in Abac Bangna which is Samut Prakan.

Will update my experience there tmr for future reference.

  5. Usually, I believe they want you to apply for the extension during the final 7 days of your original permission to stay. May 6 would definitely be OK. Maybe, they would do it May 3 if they are not busy.

I have never encountered that problem,I have in the past extended my stay 2 weeks in advance on a 30 day visa exemption none the less.

    As below.

Thank You! I will call tmr just in case as well before I go down.

Is May 6 open then? I read from here its a bridge holiday after coronation day. http://www.officeholidays.com/countries/thailand/

and on monday may 9 its royal ploughing day.

I guess the only day is available before 12 May is 10, 11 or 12 may then?

I guess i should call and enquire if they would allow me to go before.

I kinda want to do it earlier as I don't want to wait too near the day of my visa expiry

just in case something goes wrong.

  7. Thanks Ubon.

No it's not my first extension so I need the full 3 months.

If this question hasn't been asked before then maybe I will have to go to immigration and ask.

I need to change banks during the 3 month period.

It has been asked before and the answer is always not to do it. I was trying to say that in a nice way.

Plenty reports of people changing banks being denied.

i would go with what ubonjoe adviced. His advice has always been pretty sound n help me out alot in my stay in thailand
  8. try to go earlier to pay up as sometimes might need more time to find your overstay records or maybe some documentation. i overstayed once. and they lost all records of me coming into the country and so they took some time kinda checking on me and whatever they could do. immigration was very polite n nice to me. all in all it took for me 15-20mins to clear n pay the fine. that was last yr. No banned. But now i dont know with the new overstay rules.

    Best of Luck.

  9. I have got my tourist visa and am coming into thailand by suvarnabhumi airport today. 14.03.2016.

I have my tickets in n out of Thailand all ready.

So upon arrival I will get 60 days stamp? is there any thing else i would need to do at the airport

and 30 days extension I will have to do it at?

I am still new to this so thanks for the kind advice in advance.

  10. Hi I am a Singaporean getting married to a Thai Spouse.

according to requirements and advised by the Singapore Embassy

I am require to get some documentation for my marital status and my spouse work status

and a certificate of clearance from the police in Singapore before I can send in

our application to register for our marriage in Thailand.

Now I have got all the required documents.

My question is where can I go and get the documents translated?

Does anyone have experience with this? Can someone send me to a

good translation agency that is recognised.

    What are the costs?

are there any other things i need to take note of and prepare before

    I go register?

Thanks in advance for your kind assistance.

  11. imo, this law might just be the government trying to pull a scare on overstayers n getting them to go out now n pay the 20k fine. I was an overstayer too but i made it out last week and paid the overstay fine 20k and there were a few others like me too at the overstayed counter. imagine the amount of revenue they are generating from this everyday now. but if you have the money to go out now i strongly suggest that pay the fine and go now come back later. Dont risk it.

  12. Do you want a visa based on retirement (over 50)?

Do you want to stay in Thailand longer than 90 days?

Are you planning to live in Thailand, Singapore or between the two?

    I am 34 this year.

I am in Singapore now and am planning to come back to Thailand to marry my gf. So yes I am definitely going to want to get a Marriage VISA after we get married as our Business is in Thailand and live in Thailand.

But for now I would like to get a 90 day visa 1st before I go to the marriage visa. So within the 90 days visa I want to get married and how do I go about getting the 90 days visa?

First you will need a single entry tourist visa (SETV). That will give you 60 days on entry to Thailand. Towards the end of the 60 days you can go to your local immigration office and apply for a 30 day extension of stay (1,900 baht) giving you 90 days. The requirements are here http://www.thaiembassy.sg/visa-matters-/-consular/visa-requirements/tourist-visa

Once you are married you can apply for a non immigrant 'O' visa. This gives 90 days on entry. Within the last 30 days of the 90 you can apply for a 1 year extension of stay. You need to have 400k baht in a Thai bank for 2 months prior to applying or a certified income of 40k pm.

Thank you so much for your kind reply and help :)

  14. Sometimes ppl can get into unwanted situations n problems whatever they might be and if you dont have the time to want to try and understand it then don't find the time to come n criticise them as well. I overstayed too n posted my experience and just wanted to encourage others to get their problems sorted and try to get back on the right track on the law but only to met with some ppl saying why I needed so long to come up with 20,000 baht?

Yes it took me sometime maybe a long time but at least I did it by myself and settle my problems on my own.

Anyways from what I feel about the blacklist law is that it might be there to frighten the overstayers to leave and pay money 20,000 baht so the government can make some money off this and I think there are alot of overstayers. In my opinion this law will keep coming up as it is going to be implemented every 6 or 7 mths but never gonna be implemented fully cos it can be a source of revenue.
