    Thanks, folks.

Now, 2 things to be done by me :

    1) Choose 1 place among the many that have been mentioned above.

    2) Gather the courage to go to that place. Sadly, I am one of those people who keep delaying the visit to the dentist. And, since I haven't done a good job in taking care of my teeth, I am going to have to pay the price (both financially and also I am afraid I might lose some teeth and then require implants, and all the pain and discomfort that come with all this). I really hate myself for this.

    Compare the prices on here:

Maybe try MOTs and Maneerat if you haven't already

I recently contacted Maneerat about opening up several bank accounts.

They can only open Bkk Bank if on a tourist visa (I have Bkk Bank already).

Even pre-covid on a marriage extension I found it very difficult to open a bank account - only managed Bkk Bank because the women in the branch lived next door!

There are other options if on a "retirement visa" etc

  3. Hi

Do Thai Airways still offer the "free upgrade" on attainting Gold Status or the free "birthday" upgrade?

Their website isn't particularly clear about how you request it!

    https://www.thaiairways.com/en_TH/rop/Status_Benefits/BenefitStatus-03-gold.page

    Benefits with THAI:

    •   5,000 bonus threshold miles on attaining and retaining Gold status

    •   Up to 2 complimentary roundtrip upgrades* on THAI (TG 3 digit flight numbers) international routes within the 2 year validity of standard Gold status. Upgrades are to the next higher class of service only. Double class upgrades are not permitted. Valid for all paid published fares excluding discounted Economy Class fares in booking classes T, K, S, G, V, W, L and discounted Royal Silk Class fares, e.g. Z. Some promotional fares in other booking classes may also not be eligible for upgrading. Such restrictions will display with online ticket purchase at thaiairways.com or by inquiring with THAI prior to issuing ticket. The first complimentary upgrade* will be automatically entitled once your Gold card is effective and can be used during validity of the current Gold status. The second complimentary upgrade* is one year valid from the date of achieving 50,000 qualifying miles or 40 THAI international flight sectors (except travels with booking classes T / K / S / G / V / W / L) within either of your two personal calendar year periods during current Gold status. Complimentary Upgrades are non-transferable and may be subject to service fees.

    *Tax and surcharges apply.

**Due to travel with the booking classes T, K, S, G, V, W, L will not be eligible for both attaining and retaining Gold Status by completing 40 international flight sectors on THAI during 12 rolling month period. Consequently, travel with these stated booking classes will not be eligible for attaining complimentary upgrades as well.

    •   Guaranteed Seating in Economy Class for reservations made 72 hours prior to departure and walitlist still open and on valid booking classes Y, M, B.

Complimentary access to THAI Royal Silk Class lounges world-wide, with one accompanying guest when departing on an international THAI operated flight.***

***Both Royal Orchid Plus Gold member and one accompanying guest who are entitled to THAI Royal Silk lounge access must travel together on the same THAI flight.

Trevor has his new bar on Soi "Pothole".  Does he still have an interest in his other bar?  I don't see him plugging that bar that much anymore.

He never owned it - Steve Acreman - who owns about 6 Gentleman's Clubs owned it and just did a deal to use the name.

Buzzin has 80k + subscribers on YouTube Dean has 30k + Buzzin must be making decent money. It might all stop as it’s rumoured you might need a Work Permit if you are based in Thailand.

Deans gone quiet on the advertising hoarding, who ever looks at them, Dean said hotel is fully booked Nov/Dec but never mentioned the other months, it is cheap but bordered by a busy road and Soi so sleep could be a problem.

It's a glorified short time hotel and so cheap you could use it just to get your head down for a powernap.

Ok if you want to go on the pi$$ down Soi 7.

There are some falang video YouTubers that are entertaining and informative, and also respectful - asking if it's ok to record.

But, there are also 'faceless' YouTubers that *secretly* record, following girls and couples around the streets.   One is often recording and posting videos from Soi Buakow...  But it is covert - the people don't know they are being recorded.  They seem to ignore the camera...ie don't know there is one.

A focal point is the 7-11 close by to the upstairs gym.

Looking at the camera angle, it seems as though from waist height. Or maybe the height of a wheelchair...

Does anyone know who is making these videos and what kind of hidden camera rig they have?

I find them disrespectful and distasteful.

You seem to know a lot about them though!

I wouldn't write mails yourself, let the Labor Department sort it out all alone. They do it on a daily basis.

This first one was to HR in Singapore etc the business language is in English.

It was nothing too dramatic, just stated her history with company, her contract details, that after taking advice she thought what they were attempting to do was illegal, her intent to honour her legally binding contract, and finally that she would have no hesitation in going to the Labor Department etc.

The certificate will need to be sent to FCDO Milton Keynes to have an apostille attached. Then it needs to be attested at the Royal Thai Embassy, London. Once that is done it can be translated into Thai and then has to get the Thai MoFA certification stamp. I am currently undergoing the process with my birth certificate.

Here is a good starting point https://www.gov.uk/get-document-legalised/print

I did it all from Thailand - UK solictor signed the back of all of the above for my Birth certificate, marriage certificate, mum and dads' marriage certificate (needed it for Yellow book) and my University degrees. (I suggest you do the same as you never know what paperwork you might need)

Pain in the <deleted>. Can be done if you know someone in the UK who can handle the post/visit to Thai Embassy side of things, otherwise pay someone!
