  1. For goodnes sake, not one of you know what caused the accident. Why the hell do you have to post such garbage, innuendo.?

Isn't it just like all the show-offs to give their point of view when they were no where near the accident? People with nothing better to do than post such drivel.

Well done circusman, you have proved your lack of knowledge, of driving and accident sites. now go back to your circus ring and do your rendition of Pomeranian dogs circling and walking on their hind legs, when you bore with that feed the monkeys their over due nuts. Get you head from out of which ever orifice it is in.

  2. For goodnes sake, not one of you know what caused the accident. Why the hell do you have to post such garbage, innuendo.?

Do you mean like this gem?

Sad state of affairs, and condolences to family, however, this happening at just past midnight on Boxing Day Evening could suggest alcohol involvement, terrible

Yes,being past midnight, obviously grog was the cause.

Suggesting something COULD be the cause is not an innuendo it means it is a possibility no more no less. Take a closer look at the damaged jeep it is so obvious that high speed was involved and no that is not another innuendo I would put money on that being a fact. In cases like this pictures don't lie, and yes I was an accident investigator with the RHKP. I can assure you now, that when it came to the court case these pictures that have been printed publicly would be used in a court of law, by the police and prosecution.

One thing that is very important that has not been mentioned is the length and direction of any skid marks left by the jeep whilst braking,of course in this day and age ABS does not allow this luxury to an investigator, however I would not be sure this jeep has ABS. Also what were the road conditions ? Wet or dry

So gentlemen, there are a number of people on tv who are qualified to comment on such issues, and there are obviously others who are not ! Thank you

  3. with everything being pushed from l/f to r/r i thinks it possible that it may have been hit by a truck reversing onto the road ?????

Not out of a side junction unless it was across both lanes as the truck damage is on the wrong side.

It looks like the jeep has gone straight into the back of the truck either due to the truck pulling across him or him not looking where he was going.

    RIP.

To me, this appears to be case of a fast moving jeep striking the rear of a slow moving or stopped heavy vehicle. This could be for many reasons, one I hinted at earlier another of course was that the milk carrier which is a large tanker had no rear lights.

The shear amount of damage to the engine Bay Area and even up to the cab shows speed has to be involved, the one question I would like to hear an answer to, is , with this amount of damage, and a deceased trapped driver, how come the jeep was 200 meters away from the impact scene

  4. My ex cheated on me with a Chilean salsa instructor, then a fellow American physician. So I'm not sure who I am supposed to blame: Latinos? Salsa instructors? Doctors? Americans? To paraphrase the OP, why do so many women get caught up in the nightmare of dating underpaid salsa instructors?

People cheat. it is part of the human condition. No, not everyone does, but the facts are that a majority of people will cheat on their partner at least some time on their lives. You can blame Thai women for Western men cheating, you cam blame the Western man, you can blame society, you can blame whomever you want. Or, you can move forward with the relationships that matter with you and deal with the situation instead of just looking to lay blame.

Bonobo, hard life, and infidelity and cheating will get worse in years to come, the teenagers of years ago , who during the flower power era, who then accepted infidelity are now parents themselves and due to their ways rightly of wrongly have led the present generation into the arms of "................ Answer on a post card please !

  5. I don't divulge any information. If anything I play down any assets. That does not mean I have to lie, I am just selective or not forthcoming with information.

I'm at the age and mindset where I have been divorced once. I have worked hard to have what I have now, and if I lost that, well, I doubt I could make it back.

Thai or Western relationship, I wouldn't divulge the state of my assets at this stage of my life.

Interesting, but do you need to be a rocket scientist ? I could honestly admit I. Am worth xxxx m which would be true or I could say xm which is not true , I know what I would volunteer edited to add why tell the truth when your finances will be used as a decider in her eyes.
  6. Sorry this thread has TROLL written all over it .... Changed thread ......coffee1.gif

Kindly enlighten me on how you believe this to be the work of a troll ? Reading the OP's comments very carefully, I actually believe she is wearing her heart on her sleeve. Bitter ? probably, racist ? Possibly, Broken Hearted ? Absolutely. A troll she is not.

I also believe that Western women are more affected by this type of marital behavior than their Asian sisters, and let's be honest, she is for sure not the first woman to be cheated on and will certainly not be the last.

  7. With your permission people perhaps I can throw some more info into the ring. I have been living with a 100% Chinese passport holder! who I met in Bangkok in 2007, she has her own business with an office in BKK and also in Dongguan, here in China. In 2010 we went to the VFS visa office in Shenzhen as we were talking of marriage and wanted her to meet my family to ensure she was happy enough to commit herself to me.

All this was written into the application forms, and being very careful we made sure all required documents, including her own bank statements were submitted, which included a letter from myself stating that NEITHER of us would rely on UK handouts, whether it be medical treatment or whatever etc. Etc.

My then girlfriend was not subjected to an interview. It must be understood that VFS are not a UK government agency, it is a private company employed by the UK Border Agency, not the FCO or by the British Embassy. Their job is to ensure your documentation is as required and all documents are filled in correctly.

As stated she was not called for an interview, but she did have to go through the .biometric submit. When happy, the VFS sent all her details in what looked like a diplomatic pouch, to the Consulate in Guangzhou. Four days later she got her passport and visa back which was valid for two years, multi entry with a maximum stay of 180 days.

Last year we married and between us purchased property here in Dongguan, last week she reapplied again, and this time was given a five year visa multi entry with a maximum stay of 180 days.

As pointed out earlier VFS do not have the authority to agree or decline a visa, they are merely the paper pushers. I firmly believe that if you can conform to requirements then give as much documentation as you can. It's those who are struggling to meet the requirements, who then attempt to BS or lie, who are the ones easily found out.

    Hope this helps

  8. This is my home. And I probably pay more taxes than she does.

    .

Sorry Minnehaha, you have your head in the sand, this is not your home and never will be. You cannot own land, you as a foreigner are well under the control of big brother just as I am in .china, the major difference is that my wife is a superb business lady and I also am doing well. You guys are nothing more than cash cows, and that is the difference. If your income disappears tomorrow, do you really believe your loving TaiTai will treat you the same ?. Up to you, make your own mind up

  9. I own a pasty, pie and Devon Cider outlet here in Dongguan. I paid a lot of money out to bring in a Master Baker from the UK to advise and train my local staff .

Being hands on, I can assure everyone that the secret and the hardest part of a Pasty or Pie is in fact the Pastry and that, to get it right, especially in warm humid conditions is an art in itself. The secret is to ensure the Pastry preparation room is well air conditioned and that the time from making the pastry to putting into a decent oven is as short as possible.

In the six months we have been operating we are now making authentic Cornish Pasties, Vegetable Pasties, Quiche, Steak and Kidney Pies, Pork and Apple and Chicken Pies. And as from this week a genuine UK style Apple Pie.

The reviews we have had from customers and outlets is that these are as good as can be purchased in the UK, in fact a visiting Engineer from UK bought several pies which we froze and vacuumed packed which he took back to the UK with him.. coals to Newcastle ? Maybe !

Couple all of the above with a very decent award winning Devon Cider which we are the exclusive agents for here in China then life could be a lot worse.

As for Pukka pies, I have never had one for years and in recent times I have never heard a good word said about them but as the saying goes, one mans meat is another mans poison.

  10. Seems you had a bit of a nightmare experience, however, losing luggage on a stop over flight, I.e not direct is a relatively common experience, in the early 90's I was forever flying HK to London for meetings then onwards to a project in São Paulo in Brazil, the return leg being the same. Easiest way was London to Amsterdam, change planes onto São Paulo.

In those days, it was totally legal to bring vacuum packed meats back to The UK so my case was well and truly stocked with very good beef steaks. On one trip, I landed in London, but my meat didn't. Panic time, explained to the KLM handler at Heathrow, he called Schipol and told them my story, was told they had my case and it would be on a morning flight to LHR the next morning and the case would be stored overnight in a deep freeze..

The next evening, my case was delivered to my parents in Lincoln where I was stopping over and it was transported in a reefer van. Everything still frozen.

Your description of your fellow passengers from Wellington bought a smile to my face. I have never yet seen a Filipino or Filipino travel without the kitchen sink, they are notorious for it. Two stories spring to mind, a number of years who, I was a Cathay Gold Card holder and got upgraded to business class, on a HK - MNL flight, lo and behold what was strapped into a seat next to me but a Sony TV with the passengers name and address in Pampanga scrawled over it. As I was on a free upgrade I was loathe to complain. On more than one occasion, I have seen small feminine Filipinas being dragged around the luggage carousel by a case that was just too heavy for them to remove.

You may be frustrated and angry but come on look at the bright side of life.

  11. I am just a normal person that does`t know a great deal about politics.I read the news and try to be open minded ,but the way I see the current situation is that the present government has with the help of the red army of puppets aided by brother T.S.have organised this chaos .My heart goes out to thailand and the anti gov.protesters.I prey to god that they find a sollution soon and bring peace to Thailand whith a true democratic government.

Look around you, open your eyes, show me a third world country that is not corrupt to its heart that is democratic. Second thoughts don't bother as it will take you ages.

  12. I sincerely thank those sensible enough who responded to my very open question on suggestions. As per normal the usual peasants came out of the woodwork, some probably had to google how to spell business class.

I was very interested in the responses by the obviously switched on savvy frequent flyers, however, I had to sort through the responses as recommended airlines such as Oman Air do not fly out of Hong Kong.

As a smoker a stop over is great with me, as long as it's a reasonable length of time, gives my 66 year old body the opportunity to stretch my legs, on top of which, a nice comfortable business class lounge is also a blessing. Now here's another point that no one has picked up on, and that, as a business owner, travelling at my own expense, my check in luggage weight is very important.

After searching the internet for three days, and very much listening to the sensible comments from those in the know, who kindly answered me, I have gone for Emirates.

In my last post, where I stated I could wallpaper a large house with my economy boarding cards, I actually took the time to check my accounts with Cathay Pacific, which have all been economy class, and since 1981, when I first flew them, I have amassed 87,000 miles. But it has to be understood that since 1997 I have only flown them twice a year.

I think I have the right to know what I am talking about when it comes to air travel. And thanks to you who gave me your experience

  13. Wow rich guys here. It's good that you guys can splash that much money for a nice comfortable seat unlike those poor sods in cattle class and it's to europe so there is a bit of a distance to cover. You guys probably stay in 5 star places too.

You can go business as well if you want. You just have to save a bit longer.

After working hard for forty plus years, and taking enough flights in economy to literally wallpaper a large house with boarding cards, I feel I have every right to spend my money as I see fit. This upcoming flight is a very special one and as such my wife and I have decided to go business class. My post was about getting recommendations from others who have experience on the subject. End of, but it does give me a warm feeling that my financial position allows me to do what others only appear to be able of dreaming about

  14. Just been to BKK and back on Finnair. The cost was excellent (GBP 1400). Service very good and it was a decent business class experience.

Only problem was that going out was an older aircraft so no flat bed. Was ok on way back.

    Definitely value for money.

Thanks Johnnyy, Finnair is a strong possibility, however again it's interesting that even they have two different standards on two different aircraft.

  15. I would very much appreciate feedback and comments from those who have recently travelled to Europe in business class.

Although resident in China, I guess airline long haul flight cabins are pretty much the same whether it's to

Europe from Bangkok, Hong Kong or wherever.

Let me put my thoughts forward for your good selves to comment on or rip apart. I will be flying to London Heathrow from Hong Kong early January, realising that this time of the year is busy, I have asked my travel agent for quotes, well these quotes, for the same product, I.e. Business class vary widely, from 46,000 HKD to 29,000. Now I fully understand that non stop routes are more expensive, however, the more practical prices are from European carriers such as Lufthansa, KLM, Finnair etc. The next price level are the Middle East carriers with the most expensive being Cathay and the likes.

So, has anyone flown the European carriers as mentioned, and if so I would appreciate your comments, on comfort levels, food etc. Just to start it off, I have done a lot of google searches and without doubt, KLM comes in for a huge battering, old seats, shabby, seats that are not lie flat.

    Over to you.

  16. Those tourists would never do that in their own countries, red flag means the same everywhere , but here they still believe they can do anything .. just hope he will reward very well the guy who saved him ...... Well done Mr Thanyaboon

Nor sure if they have red flags on the beaches in Switzerland but be assured,

for every silly tourist who goes swimming in the sea despite warnings not to do so,

you'll find a silly tourist climbing up the mountains despite warnings not to do so..

You are having a laughter right ? The Swiss are landlocked, but I guess your views, however guess worthy they are on mountain climbers might have a sliver of common sense. My first reaction to this story was the report was made before the incident happened and secondly red flags being flown yet a silly person ignored and actually swam out 100m . Now that is staggering stupidity.,

But I guess not everyone has a brain in good working order!,

  17. Manny is a true athlete, he is just unbelievable, although admittedly his last defeat was brutal and the knock out blow frightening. Today in Macau, Rios was made to look a total lumbering imbecile, he was outclassed, out boxed and totally out of his comfort level.

Manny, I salute you, but please realise when enough is enough, you are an inspiration to your country, especially these times when millions of your countrymen are are suffering. You have made your name and you have made your money, now go and be the politician you so much want to be and shame the never ending Filipino corrupt politicians as you shame majority of your opponents in the ring.

I like your attitude, but don't we need to see him fight Mayweather?

No I don't think we do, unless my elderly memory is wrong, Manny is now 35, he has proved his point as one of the best pound for pound boxers In boxing history It's now up to the younger ones to emulate him. He has no points to prove .

I am not a Filipino , but I worked there for over ten years, the Philippine people need an idol, Manny is just that idol. Quit whilst you are on top.
