Not really, investigating where it started and how it jumped to humans is part and parcel of any outbreak of a disease to help inform planning/actions to counter future outbreaks of similar or new diseases. Being politicised is deplorable (as is the stupid finger pointing) but shouldn't give anyone a free pass.

Very true! For all the reasons  you provide.

There is  no doubt that China  made  mistakes which they probably should have learned  from the  SARS  outbreak. It may even be that there was some presumption that like Sars did the  new virus  would prove  short lived also. But when provided with the  evidence the  Western world did NOT react as it did  before. SARS was  quickly perceived as  major threat and globally  isolation units were rapidly established  for something that did not  eventuate and therefore could be attributed in some sense of dismissal.

It  remains important in the interests of  medical science  to genuinely establish the source of C-19 if for  nothing less than perhaps understanding it's  development.

Unfortunately the belated reaction to the reality of an unfolding pandemic crisis has focused  politicised  public opinion on "blame" and disproven allegations of  deliberate production etc etc.

And that started  very  early in the situation. Unsurprisingly the Chinese  Government  has reacted strongly to the  associated criticism of it's political system as being the primary  cause.

SARS thankfully  faded away . MERS did not/has not. Has there been any equivalent finger point  blame  put  upon the  Middle East for a  virus that despite not being very contagious is also not  very survivable  if contracted. What if it  mutates  into  something  different? It is another  corona virus. Not from China.

The WHO has been presented  with a  problem that has been  mostly  created  by  politics.

In a  concurrent effort  by (mostly ) he  who  does not  deserve  naming to put false  economic personal claim to fame ahead of humanitarian realities the result is a unfortunate conflict of interest in best outcome.

I've heard quite a few tales of woe from Thai ladies recently.

One I have heard 3 times now is that their western boyfriend (living overseas and previously sending money) died of Covid. A relative gets in contact with the girl to tell them the sad news. The boyfriend (typically elderly) disappears from all social media.

The Thai girl is heart broken, but also a little suspicious and checks around with some of her friends living in that country. Lo and behold, the old man (boyfriend) is not dead, but it's just a ruse to get rid of his Thai girlfriend and stop sending money (particularly when the prospect .

I sometimes think I should open an investigative service for Thai ladies who want their overseas boyfriends checked out, and to get an assessment of their real worth!

It does happen that way around. I know of  one .

  4. I would suggest drilling a pilot hole with a 2.5 mm bit first. Drill rotation speed  should be  kept low .

Stainless  steel is notorious  for "work hardening " as it is  drilled so is important  to drill as  hard and slow as  can. HSS bits  will blunt  quickly .

  5. It can now only be hoped that Trump is to some degree aware of the issues legitimate calls for accountability in the basket of issues his overall but certainly his most recent attempts to attack and destroy the basis of the US Constitution which he originally falsely vowed to uphold.

Also given his well established vindictive nature it could be that as a final gesture in compelled  departure he would be tempted to figuratively " toss a grenade"  into the Oval Office by demanding some military  action against such as Iran . Good sense would suggest such an action would be  deferred for confirmation by the incoming Commander in Chief in any case were it not  defensive but the  evidence  is/has  been clear in demonstrating Trump has encouraged  no less suicidal compliance to tragic  effect !

  6. Given this moment in history demonstrating a flaw in the US system perhaps the opportunity exists for an amendment to the US Constitution that provides for some limitations on a demonstrably demented POTUS ? Such as definitively eliminating  pre-emptive and self pardons, invoking meritless attacks on the implementation of the electoral process for personal objectives by way of abuse of power and protection etc etc ?

Can it honestly  be claimed that the US abides by the principles of  democracy when it's president is enabled  to be as unaccountable as a Dictator?

Never has there been as disastrous a loser as 45.

Now The Senate can pass a Bill adding 5 seats to the Supreme Court, and President Biden can pick the judges. Sally Yates will be named Attorney General, and she has plenty of lawbreaking to investigate and prosecute from 45's clan. Obviously the self-pardon won't hold up in court, so 45 can face a myriad of Federal charges. He's already going to face charges in NY State and now Georgia, because of his call on Saturday.r

Everything is beginning to look good.

Really it is  looking to hold some hope for some  hope.

  8. Why is it that people assume that the Thai production of the Astra Zeneca  vaccine is automatically the "property" of Thailand? The Thai production is in assisting  total volume which also makes it more rapidly available to the Thai Govt. purchases.

It also seems ignored that the  Phizer  vaccine was distributed days after  US FDA approval from stockpiles made in anticipation. The same would apply to the  Sinofarm vaccine in anticipation of pending approval for which Thailand"s order is still subject to rather than being a guinea pig for!

It is also likely that  other vaccines will come available that information about  has been overshadowed or ignored or dismissed in public information.

Why use something so dangerous inside you house such as a gas bottle. You would not do that living in the west. There are plenty of excellent portable induction cooktops on the market.

I do not live in "The West". But when I did I used  to have a  portable  gas  heater  for the  rare occasion it  was  felt  needed. It  incorporated a gas cylinder. Heater and  gas cylinder both subject  to "regulated  quality  inspection and  approval".  In fact the  gas  cylinder  was  produced  and imported  from .....Thailand !

The question is then that  despite "preference" in  equipment it is the  standard  which is  important.

Incidentally...if  you possess such does  your induction  cooktop  have an effective  earth pin on the supply lead?

This whole mess started because the meddling US did not accept the democratically elected leader of Iran.  Everything must suit the interests of the US of lies, so the CIA set about its dirty business to overturn the popular leader and replace him with their puppet the corrupt Shah Pahlavi.  Naturally, like ANY other country would do, the Iranians eventually stood up to the USA and kicked them and the Shah out.   The USA has never forgotten their audacity and punishes them to this day.  It is no wonder the Iranians hate the US government.

Look back at history and it is clear to see how most of the problems today in the middle east can be traced back to the false promises, back stabbing and exploitation by the US and other western nations.

    GO HOME YANKEE!

Unfortunately   you are  not wrong ! History does demonstrate the repetitive cycle of domination that  comes and goes.

The question is when will humanity  develop the intellectual maturity  to respect itself and break the  cycle?

Or is humanity still so incapable ? To date  the proclamations of  "advances" in  human "rights" have demonstrated little other than technologically manipulated usage  for advanced  exploitation and social inequity proportional to population on an exponential scale!

has anyone bothered to confirm the vessel had been leaking chemicals?

I think it  could  be safe to assume the accusation of pollution is a pretext  for retaliation for not  forwarding payment owed to Iran. South Korea is a major importer of  oil so to with hold payment in  obeyance to the US  is as  questionable as Iran's  seizure of this vessel.

Iran in recent days has  given notice of it's resolution to give the middle finger  to the various levels of  suppression  inflicted  by the US (Trump's) sanctions and openly announced  resumption of refining  nuclear  material beyond  conditions it has  continued  to mostly adhere  to despite the US  withdrawal from agreement.

Typically the US  has manipulated a political standoff issue involving  geographical locations  outside it's own territory that could  escalate to  military conflict which it would   "support"  with   "supply".

Is it  coincidental that  "peace  agreements" in the middle east between non warring nations actually mostly  proclaim resumption of air corridors? Yet none of those  so grandly acclaimed  have actually  eliminated  the reality of overt issues involved in the  Middle East  overall?

There is a change coming  quickly to the division of "power" in the world and  like it or not if it is  not achieved  diplomatically  it will become a devastation !

    The  choice  exists.

My girlfriend's aunt lived with us for sometime. I guess she was really experienced regarding this type of problems since she turned off gas by cylinder valve every time after cooking.

I think you have missed an important factor. It is also  routine  for us to shut of the  cylinder when  not in use.

The  failure of the union possibly  occurred when (also) routine  cleaning was done after previous use but such a component should not be  so inferior  as to be disturbed  by the passing of a  damp cloth !

Just for the sake of it (because the entire unit is now unusable) I tried to  tighten the  union onto the threaded   tubing securely as originally was intended. It would not beyond a  certain tension before it "stripped".(failed).

The quality of the  brass  union seems  fine. It is  the  poor  quality of the threaded  tubing that is the  problem which has  taken  some years to present itself.

Can somebody explain what's going on with the migrant worker numbers? Until two days ago, they didn't seem to be including them in the national totals. Then suddenly 557 cases appeared out of the blue yesterday followed by another 439 today. I'd assumed that the 557 included all the migrant worker cases they hadn't included from the week before, but if that's the case where did the 439 today come from? Or were there zero migrant worker cases for a week and then suddenly over 500 appear from nowhere, followed by over 400? None of this makes any sense.

Test Lab closed on weekends? lol

One day, I am expecting someone to conduct a massacre in America with a surplus tank. It just keeps escalating.

The Founding Fathers never imagined one day there would be guns that could kill and injure hundreds of people in a few o crush quite  few  cars minutes.

I would suggest keeping the Second Amendment. It's almost sacred in the US psyche.  However, the ordinary citizen would only be allowed a weapon that could fire a single shot, and had to be reloaded by hand each time.

It probably would not do much for the suicide rate, but it sure as hell would reduce the number of multiple homicides and gun massacres. It would also make Americans think far more carefully before they reached for a firearm.

Has been attempted already. Not exactly a surplus  tank and luckily had no live rounds of any sort. managed to crush quite a few  cars before he got stopped and shot !

3 days ago I went into my kitchen to light a burner on the stove top, pulled the trigger on the hand lighter and.......BOOM !!!  a deafening explosion so loud people thought a transformer had blown. It turned out that a rat had eaten a sizable hole in the gas feed pipe to the cylinder stored outside. Total fireball in the kitchen, forearms ablaze but luckily no major damage other than one hell of a shock and minor burns, but a pointer to check that gas feed line at regular intervals. I also smelled no gas, as it tends to lie low, and a search of Pattaya's hardware stores found no availability of any stainless steel mesh covered gas feed line. Maybe on Ebay ????

WOW!  Lucky as! Maybe copper tubing would be  better ?
