It was a grilled pulled-pork sandwich from Dukes.  Really delicious, especially when nice and warm!  Ok, so you can tell when you're living with a farang when he warms up his grilled sandwich that he bought from a restaurant that caters to farangs.

Now, lol, back to living with Thais...............

I find that heating the Cuban sandwiches from Duke's in an oven does a better job than the microwave... Glad to know I'm not the only farang that plans ahead for their gastronomical needs... Now off to Butter is Better for breakfast!!!

  2. I have been stopped at these pointless roadblocks 2 times in the same place but on different days. The first time said they were checking red plates on car to make sure they were real. The funny thing is that I was driving behind a Honda City with red plates and they did not stop them. When I brought it up they just made some stupid excuse and said they can tell my plates where fake, even though I had all the right paper work showing everything was correct.

My car is a Porsche and even though my plates where in order they kept trying to find something to make me pay a fine and asked if was evading taxes my not registering it. I had only it for about 2 months, and told them it is process, they then tell me about the bombing and how unregistered cars can be used to make a car bomb because they are hard to track. Yeah, I bought a new Porsche just to blow it up...

Second time I had finally got white plates, and still wanted me to stop and check the registration while letting other cars go by. This time after confirming everything was ok, they let me go without any hassle.

Only thing roadblocks are for is get money for Thai Tea.

If you drive a new Porsche in a country filled with so much extreme poverty, you should be forced to share your wealth.

Forced, by whom, you? You ever hear of earning something instead of demanding it from someone else?

  3. you need air con and farang food because you are all babies... without your 75k you will moan and cry all day long for your mamaaaaaa !

kids, it s time to grow up and become a real man.

    smile.png

A real man has created options, accrued resources, makes decisions, and chooses his lifestyle.

A lesser man is dictated to by his failures, and attempts to conceal it with shallow bravado.

From what I've seen it's mostly luck.

Although the boasters always want to portray themselves as better than everyone else.

All the big money I earned, luck not judgement.

All the money I lost, luck not judgement.

Lucky I came through it all at age 45, with enough to last the rest of my life.

I'd rather consider myself a lucky man, than boast to all that I was a 'real man'!

I dunno, sounds like sour grapes to me... If you had 74k a month to live on, you wouldn't be bitching at those that do... We make our own luck...

There is a reason it takes 65k a month to secure a retirement extention... Yes , we all know that it came done cheaper, but what about unplanned expenses that always seem to pop up?

Here is just one example that blows a 30k a month budget.. Over the last 3 months I've had 150k in dental work done... How does someone on a 30k budget swing that?

  4. Obama never really tried to do much about gun control. Please name a bill he tried to push through. And contrary to the right wing nutters he never was interested in taking our guns. Oh yea in case I haven't mentioned, left wing radical militants have guns also, lots and are damn good with them. Clinton on the other hand is a whole different ball game. Look at the history of the Clinton White House and know Hillary supported all of Bill's gun bans. Don't forget pappa Bush either. All this crap started when that idiot Hinkley shot Reagan, and didn't kill.....no further comment there, him. Gun control is hitting your target. Had not Reagan slashed mental health programs, followed by others maybe some of these idiots would have locked away. America doesn't have a gun problem it has a mental problem.

Here are a few, including executive orders...

  5. She's talking to the vast majority of American voters who DO favor stricter gun control. Duh.

What could she do that Obama could not do?

That was the point of my post... If the majority of US citizens supported stricter gun controls, they would be in place today... We know this has been one of Obama's prime objectives for the last 7 years... He tried forcing tighter gun control legislation through Congress and failed...

The majority support more gun control? Not by a wide margin...

  6. It's perfectly ok to be gay in the USA, but not in the Vatican? blink.png

    Why do you think that?

There is no rule saying he cant be gay. There is a rule saying ALL cant have sex etc.

Because the pontiff's trip to the US carried a political spin in support of gay unions, while at the same time the vatican dismisses a gay priest... Hypocrisy of the highest order... This is what khaowong was referring to ...

  7. The US tact is to threaten sanctions in order to achieve compliance... In this case, like so many others, it will go over like a fart in church and will only serve to further damage US / Thai relations... From a Thai perspective, what does the US do for Thailand? Watch for Thailand to turn further toward China as the ASEAN alliance goes live...

  8. Went to this same park in Krabi a few weeks ago with my Thai GF... When she saw that they charged me 10X what they charged her, she went off on the guy... Didn't matter, still had to pay, even though I have a Thai DL...

What would happen if you just walked in without paying?

They don't have guns, and they're usually very small!

    PS

I never pay, there's always a back trail in without a ticket booth or guard.

There are never just one of them working the gates at these places... Not worth the chance of an altercation over a few baht... Remember the bloke that got the pointy end of a samurai sword at the hands of a taxi driver last year in Bangers?

  9. I've happy with ACS. I'm in my late 50's. The premiums are about 1,700 USD per year. They have paid claims promptly, worked with several hospitals to guarentee payment, and been good to respond to emails. Once or twice when there were delays with communication, Peter the broker at AA Insurance jumped in and got answers. The only downside is that I am also American and their policy only covers emergency care for 7 weeks in the US, so I have ended up buying travel insurance on top of ACS..

I wonder what their age limit is, because on their website it says up to 60 yrs

60 is the limit for enrollment... Once you are in though, you can continue coverage beyond age 60...

  10. The weapons industry is big business in America, BIG BUSINESS... Shutting it down would have a major impact on employment and GDP, so there is that aspect of the debate... Gun control in the US should start at the top, which is the government... How many billions of $$$ do they gain in selling weapons to foreign nations (and certain terrorist groups)? The world is a very sad place when the supposed greatest nation on earth manages foreign policy at the end of a gun... It is any surprise that this reflects the actions of the populace?

  11. Just more politicization of the pope's visit to America... When the story came out about the pontiff meeting with the Kentucky clerk that refused a gay couple a marriage certificate, I knew it was only a matter of time before the MSM would kick into high gear to spin the story... Only a few days later, a vatican talking head releases a statement to the press that the pope was "ambushed" with the Kim Davis meeting and that the meeting did not mean the pope supported her position... Now we have this new story that the pope actually met with a gay couple to steer public opinion... Everything is politicized these days, from french fries to gay marriage... There is not separation of church and state... The church of public opinion anyway...

  12. 4 pages of posts and as alway, and I mean ALWAYS, these threads turn into people raging about gun ownership in the US within the first 5 posts... It's like arguing that the sun does not rise in the east, it is never going to change, so why rage about it... Americans will never be disarmed and in fact gun ownership has skyrocketed under the current administration... So, if you are going to live in the USA, you need to arm yourself for self defense purposes and quit bitching about it...

And those with mental issues also arm themselves to do some mass shootings. No need to feel sorrow or sadness about the victims, just quit bitching about it ?

Where has anyone expressed remorse for the victims in this thread? It has been 4 pages of nothing but bitching about guns... You want to protect yourself from a nut job in the US that has a gun, them ARM YOURSELF... Like I have already said, Americans will not be disarmed without a civil war in the US...

On the other hand, you might ask a few Europeans what they think about their lack of access to guns now that the migrant horde from the ME is heading their way...

  13. Why does Bibi keep bitching about this treaty, I mean really, Israel is a nuclear power and has been for a long time... If he thinks Israel is in danger from Iran, then he should do something about it and NOT expect the USA to wipe his tears, pat him on the back and send in the troops... Enough innocent lives have been lost in the region due to Israel's fear of their neighbors... It is my experience in live that you get as good as you give... If Israel had been a good neighbor to muslims, they would not be in this predicament... But of course, this was not their agenda when the state of Israel was created in the first place...
