  1. So what's in it for these two men?

    Let me guess... money?

Sure......Fangio was the sole representant and owner of the Mercedes Benz dealerships in Argentina for the last 60 years......and most of trucks and buses in Argentina are Mercedes Benz. Even the first taxis in Argentina in the 50's were new MB exported for that use.. Now...those cars are collector pieces. After the war, Argentina was the richest country in South America and very European. Still be called the Paris of South America.

During his youth and racing career, Fangio spend great part of his life in Italy, where he was an Idol....Not will be a surprise if he had kids there too....

  2. Had to be done professionally.....The center of gravity in any car or truck is related with the hight between the road and the floor, and the weight of the car, and other parameters. Any big change will affect the stability, specially driving in high speeds, up and down the roads. Need the best car for off roading and water tigh? Get an old Land Rover Discovery. More than 2000 Kg and a V8 for pure sport driving on the wild.....

  3. If you are younger than 50....go and look..." Caminante no hace caminos...se hace caminos al andar "

Language a lot easier to learn in Spain...and a lot more useful around the world

Food a lot better and healthier

A lot better weather.... and not mosquitos!

Close to all European destinations and cheaper flights to the US and South America

A very busy and safe night life.

    Culture...culture...culture...

Women are very beautiful and open minded....to the younger ones...Old guys.....who like younger women...better to chose Thailand...but..if you do like nice and intellectual mature women.....Europe is the place to be,

I am not living there because I need visa...and I got lucky with my woman here.....if not.

  4. The only problem with Thaivisa is that most of the members have to much time to waste, because are retired, or lausy. Professionals and busy business people rarely will participate in online "chatting"....and their valuable opinion is missed.

I am retired..and lausy...even helping my wife with her business...I will love to get busier.....Is not very healthy to spend so much time in front of a computer or TV...but.... outside ..or it is very hot..or rains.

  5. By the experience of friends living in the US with Thai wives for many years now, they adapt very well to the US culture, specially if they are young and willing to learn the language. Also, living and working in the US, or with a good retirement, most of those friends spend the US summer there and the US winter here, and owns a small property close to the wife's family...enjoying the best of the 2 worlds.

No children to deal with in any side. In my opinion, if the income is not a good one, may be not a good idea to bring a Thai wife to the US.

Every women will become a "shopper" in the US very fast....

  6. If you can travel to Lampang, 1 1/2 hour from Chiang Mai, and because it is low season now with discounted rates, you can get a cabana in your budget and needs at the beautiful Lampang River Lodge Its have offices in Chiang Mai, and probably shuttle transportation.

  7. Hello,

I also think that a screen is useful and all the BS that people tell about wifi, etc is just BS. Lets see if you have time to connect to your phone, especially if you are injured.

More than that I like to know that my cam is doing something, maybe other people will feel it if one day they have an accident and find that they cam didn't record anything...

One of the most reliable cam among the cheapest is:

    http://www.lazada.co.th/catalog/?q=NT96650

You can read everywhere, if you find a genuine of these cam (MONZIE SHOP on lazada sells genuine) you will be happy for the price.

Most of the other cheap ones are shiiite and trust me I tried many.

Now let the scientists of the forum who know everything in their dreams talk <3

I'm slightly confused, the NT 96650m that you recommend, well, just about all the cams on the link you provided are called NT 96650 and this looks like some kind of name copying attempt to mimic the US based NT 96650 which is a totally different beast altogether. Soooo, which NT 96650 do you recommend and from which manufacturer?

The cheapest one, they are all the same.

It is one NT 96650 blue color, for 1450thb from MGT with a 8 GB memory card, warranty, etc, etc. Very Good deal!

  8. The NT 96650 blue from MGT may be a good choice for 1450 thb with 8 GB memory card, warranty, etc, etc.. Looks like have a good night vision, too. Over 1000thb Lazada do not charge for shipping and will make 100thb discount for new customer.

    Very good deal!

  9. In Lazada have many, from 500thb to 4000thb.Most are OK for day light, but not at night. The best ones have a 2.7 screen size, and others over 18000 thb have dual lenses (bigger picture) for front and rear views, and some have GPS capabilities...

I got the F900LHD from Center (smaller pictures) that now is in offer for just 970thb + 100 thb for the 8GB flash memory card, and works very well. Also can be used like a home photo/video camera and can be hooked to a TV and computer. If you do not need perfect night vision, this one is a very good buy for the price. Nice toy! I am having fun with it for more than a year now, and this one have a better automatic focus than many small home video cameras I had .

Many reviews of car cams in youtube to make a good decision.

  10. By the way....A friend of mine is selling her 2009 BMW SUV X3 Diesel with just 55000Km, white, top of the line, bought brand new from the BMW dealership in Chiang Mai, all records and in immaculate condition for 1 mill.

    Any interest? Let me know,

  11. From the sticky post on this forum:

If you have a water cooled scooter (Honda Airblade, Scoopy 50), I suggest changing the coolant at least once every 20-25k along with the thermostat and radiator hoses.

Make sure you buy only scooter specific coolant because these engines are all aluminum and other formulations of coolant can corrode the engine away itself. And please, don't use water!!

    Uppps! I just added water!

  12. I believe that you can find good women in ANY place, not in a bar, but even in free online matchmaking sites like thaifriendly, tagged, and pof...and local events, temples, markets, fairs, are a good source if you are outgoing and courious.

I also believe that without a very good language skills and comunication the chances of a bad choice it is very posible. If you cannot learn Thai, look for a lady that speak good English...That also will be a sign of good education, if that is important for you. Too many women in Thailand looking for foreigners...for good and bad reasons..Take your time before any commitment...and be safe. Good luck.

  13. Thais are good at living for the moment and also not concerning themselves with things that they cannot change.

Very true...Unfortunately I still very "westernized"..and always worry about the past and the future.

Some day,,,even too late...I will change...I keep learning from Thais....My wife and her family are very good teachers............

  14. Giving the opportunity to the poorest people to live with dignity, supporting small business without licenses, fees, restrictions, inspections, harrasment, etc, etc...I know many Thai people making a decent and honest living selling goods on streets and street markets. That may be the reason why not many Thais sleeps on the streets or beg for help, or live in extreme misery and hunger, like in many other "3rd world" countries...and some of the western wealthy "democracies".

  15. It is better to get your NON visa at the Thai Embassy in the US, and you will have to do the retirement extension at you final destination, Chiang Mai?..because you will need a proof of residence, like a rental agreement or similar. You will need to get an income certification from the US Embassy making an appointment online, and paying $50.00. With that certification, and any other document you may need to probe your income, copy of all stamped pages of your passport, 2 passport photos, the correct filled form, plus 1900 thb and up to 5000 thb for one or unlimited yearly reentries permits.

After that, you will get a one year extension, having to show up or send your info online every 3 months to the local immigration office, and to repeat all over again every year. That's all. You do not need any help or visa service.

Yes, this is basically the way it will work. A couple of minor corrections -- the U.S. has a Consulate, not an Embassy in Chiang Mai. If the OP is going to use a Thai bank account (instead of Consulate Income Letter) to prove financial worth, then he should open the account soon after arriving so his money can "season" for 60 days prior to his application for the first 12-month retirement extension. In subsequent years, the funds will have to sit untouched for 90 days prior to application for the annual extension.

The fee for a re-entry permit is 1000 baht or 3800 baht for multi (unlimited) re-entry permit. Not 5000 baht.

The major reason to use a visa agent in Chiang Mai might be to avoid the long queues, but perhaps now that the new Immigration office is opening next week at Promenada, the 4 am queue time for retirement extensions may become a distant memory. Let's hope Chiang Mai becomes like other provinces where us retirees can show up at Immigration at a civilized hour, say 8 am, confident that we'll get our extension applications granted that day and not be told we're too late, come back earlier tomorrow.

Thank you for the corrections.. You are right.
