Trump, advisers charged with Georgia election scheme
Well, he's what we used to call, 'a big, fat tub of lard'. I should make that 'a delusional big, fat tub of lard', as recently he made a joke about one of his opponents being fat, while utterly unable to see how morbidly obese he, himself, is, and how he should keep his big, fat mouth shut on the subject of anyone's weight. Gotta go with over 273.5 lbs,, none of it in brain.

22 August. Aligns nicely with the 22 previous times he's said he's returning.

‘Biased.’ ‘Corrupt.’ ‘Deranged.’ Trump’s Taunts Test Limits of Release.
Sorry, not gonna fly. Obeying the law is neither Democrat nor Republican. Well, let's see--I'm a Democrat, so I'm allowed to steal. Well, let's see--I'm a Republican, so I'm allowed to murder. Nope, the law is the law, regardless of party. Trump was warned, he should be locked up until the trial, with only access to scheduled visitors and his lawyers. He needs to learn some respect for the law, and also be reminded that he is not above the law.

Condo rental recommendations please
I can't speak for the south side of Northshore but I lived on a fairly high floor on the north side and noise was not a problem. A small, boutique hotel across the street had a rooftop bar/restaurant and there was live music on some weekends but that was about it for noise, and it ended around midnight.

Trump, advisers charged with Georgia election scheme
No matter. It served its purpose, to drum up more publicity for Trump, with the ultimate goal of Trump grabbing as much money as possible, from as many people as possible. Folks, this is grifting at its very, very finest. Commit multiple, extremely serious crimes, and have folks, mostly gullible, uneducated, and low-income, pay you their hard-earned money for committing those crimes. It's truly breathtaking in its flim-flamming audacity, and gleefully told in one of the final chapters of his new book, The Art of the Grift. Had a good laugh at the story this morning of poor (literally), idiot, revolting Giuliani going hat in hand to Trump to beg him to pay him the 'legal' fees he is owed. It will be a snowy, blizzardly, bitter cold day at Mar-a-Lago before the Grifter King ever opens his wallet. Grifting, Rule 1.

Condo rental recommendations please
Condo choices are rather slim, especially for close to Beach Road and seaview. Northshore would be the nicest, in my opinion, for seaview units. Hipflat has a few listings from 24,000 to 28,000 baht for 1 bedrooms ranging from 68 to 80 sqm, various floors from 10 up. Nice pool and gym, Central Festival easy to get to by baht bus. Markland, older, a short distance up the road, might be another choice. These are both at the northern part of Beach Road. Centric Sea, on 2nd Road, is a much bigger project and should have some seaview choices at that price point, although the 1 bedroom units will be smaller as it is a newer project. Nice amenities, including sky lounges. Central Marina and Terminal 21 are just up the road by baht bus. The Hipflat website can give you some idea of projects and pricing.

Agree. I don't think MF should sit on the sidelines, marginalized and powerless. MF should be in the thick of things and vote for the PT candidate for PM--then see what the other PT coalition members do--that will be a much more entertaining vote, if nothing else. A PT prime minister is better than one of the junta dinosaurs back in power yet again. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Baby steps forward, about all we can hope for at this point.

Charter Court refuses to consider rejection of Pita’s renomination as PM
Terrible decision, with ridiculous reasoning. If nothing else, the court should have made a ruling so the proper, legal proceeding is nailed down for future PM votes. If that's there awful reasoning, Pita should submit it again, himself.

Traffic Police to Receive New Field-Ready Uniforms for Enhanced Safety and Performance

All the new condos
Thanks. I've said many times that I value agents and the hard work they do. Agents have sold most of the properties my partner and I have put up for sale, both here and in the US. I have also said that I am way too lazy--not to mention impatient--to be an agent, and that still holds true. Good luck!

I’m a victim of political persecution : Pita
Yes, definitely, and he should keep raking them over the coals as loudly and as often as possible. But, regardless of the shares, they would have found something else to use to oppose him--such as he makes me look like an old, ugly toad when I have to stand next to him so, of course, I must vote against him! Or, gone solely with the Article 112 issue alone as their excuse.

How much does a Retirement Home cost in Thailand?
Yes, I am going to say it hasn't changed because it is still 800,000, not 1MB or 2MB or any other new amount. Same with the 65,000 baht income requirement, no change. So, Thailand is still looking for regular retirees, not just rich ones. I hadn't noticed the 400,000 baht left in the bank business as I always just keep things simple and leave the 800.000 in all the time. Future hypotheticals, landlord issues, etc., have nothing to do with your initial statement that I responded to.

Me.

How much does a Retirement Home cost in Thailand?
Nonsense. The requirements are the same as when I came here in 2010. The only difference is the health insurance requirement for a certain visa--either O or O/A, I can never remember which. Easy solution, get the one that doesn't require insurance.

How much does a Retirement Home cost in Thailand?
Actually, the average USA retirement income in 2022 was $75,254. That's the figure that is likely to be more misleading regarding wealthy Americans bumping the average up. The median was, as I said, $47,620. If $1550 a month was the income of some Americans you knew, they were likely just getting USA social security. I've said it before, if you have a very low income, you're likely better off here than in most home countries. How, pray tell, would those Americans you've known live on just $1550 in the US? I can answer, very badly. If they can manage to scrape up the 800,000 requirement, they can live here. $1550 a month equals about 54,000 baht. 10,000 baht rent for a roof over your head, rather than a refrigerator box under a highway overpass in the US, leaves 44,000 baht to live on, about 1,400 baht a day. 400 baht for meals still leaves 1,000 baht. Of course, they are not living like kings, but neither are they homeless or just scraping by, as they likely would be in the US.

How much does a Retirement Home cost in Thailand?
I don't think 90,000 baht a month would be 'beyond the financial reach of most retirees.' Some, yes, but not most. That works out to a yearly cost of around $31,000 American dollars. My job was low-paying but with my pension and SS I easily make more than that a year. The median 2022 retirement income for American retirees was $47,620, so most could also easily afford $31,000, as well. Where I, and other USA 'median income retirees', would run into difficulty, would be paying for a decent retirement home in the US. My mother was in one and the last year she was alive, 2019, it cost $70,000 a year; it would be more now, nearly 4 years later. If I ever need to go into a retirement home, I'm better off being here than in the US.

Have you had a hard life?
I would say, by western standards, my life was neither hard nor easy; rather, somewhere in the middle. Never made a big salary--state job--but good benefits, good pension, and I could retire at age 53 after 30 years. Worked part-time another 5 years to supplement my retirement. When my partner and I are driving around in our comfortable, air-conditioned car and we see an old, bent, weathered Thai pushing a heavy cart on the road trying to sell enough of something to eat that day, we look at each other and say, stop all the whining about this or that, we are so very, very lucky.
