When I was there getting money from the UK came with various codes, I think it depends which channel is used when it gets to BKK, by the way SCB and all banks don't always do what Immigration wants from you, your problem it seems, too difficult to have a seamless system. These attachments from the SCB website may help.

If the scanners are as good as the one on my Samsung I wouldn't worry, you could be Pablo Escabar and still get in.

Unfortunately I doubt most Thais will shed any tears. And I doubt your home country government will do anything to help! If you can't meet the visa requirements (and don't want to do anything illegal) then time to pack your bags and either head home or to a country with less stringent requirements.
One of the things that I've noticed in the UK since the Brexit referendum is a significant hardening of attitudes to expats (read the Daily Mail comments on any expat stories and you will frequently see them described as 'traitors') so don't expect a warm welcome if you're a returning Brit..
Its a tough old world.
Why do people spout absolute crap just to validate their own prejudice?

One simply cannot get the staff these days old boy.

Only if you can sell it. Thai people don't, or rarely, buy second hand, you certainly wont get what you paid for it, maybe half if lucky
Not true, bought for 3.2m 13 years ago, when it was 72THB to the £, sold last year in 3 months for 8.5m at around 42THB, I might have been lucky but 44,444 buy price, just over 200,000 sell price.

Shame it degenerates into a Brexit argument AGAIN ! the thread was about 30THB to the £, yes Brexit has a lot to do with it but that was not the thread.
Thai exports down 5% may have something to do with it as well, as would tourist numbers dropping etc. etc.

Now; no one speaks English, a bagel and coffee is 20 bucks, the women may be the ugliest/homeliest in the world, and the filth has piled up.
I do not believe the place will ever recover.
Very sad.

UK politics are a complete shambles, the country is in disarray, anyone who expects the pound to rise short term is an idiot. The UK doesn't export anything worth any money, it has corrupt politicians stealing money with counterfeit expenses receipts left, right and centre, and is the butt of Europes' jokes. The British Empire is long gone, to be honest with such scumbag thieves at the helm it's amazing that the pound is even worth 39 baht. It should be worth zero.
It's a crap country, completely moronic politicians who couldn't crack open an easter egg, the only people who want to go there are Syrian and Iraqi refugees which the government throws money at. It's a disgusting, cancerous place to live and I refuse point-blank to bring my children up in such a dog-turd of a place.
And did I mention that it's a complete sh!t-hole?
I am sure the UK is pining for you as well.

I used to make copies of everything, at least 3, it was always fun waiting for the usual go 2 copy then just digging out of the envelope, you could actually see the IO getting peeved when he couldn't get you lol.

Not getting involved with leave/stay bull, there is something that does need to be understood though.
The referendum result was NOT binding as many think.
Sitting MP's DO NOT have to vote the way their constituents would wish. I am not going into parliamentary procedures, it would take forever, suffice to say they have the latitude to vote how they like.
Just saying.

Not wishing to be smug but the thing about poor resale didn't work in my case, I paid for a house in 2005, 2.5m @ 73 Baht to the £ and sold it 13 years later for 8.9m @ 45 to the £ so it can pay if you are lucky I guess.

I used to like it but when it descended into getting chunks of ice thrown at you and water from filthy Klongs I gave up.

We moved back 6 months ago after 15 years, no Thai wife or kids but hopefully some of this will be of help.
1. If you have cash any benefits are means tested so if you have cash not a lot of joy there.
2. There are plenty of jobs around even for oldies as they can't discriminate anymore.
3. Housing to buy or rent, plenty around, there are huge differences in price, we moved to just outside Durham up North and you can get nice places in beautiful countryside for 450 - 500£ rent, an up to date cozy house for less than 100,000£. Down South is very expensive.
4. Food is relatively cheap with huge choices.
5. Cigarettes are very expensive, booze from Supermarkets cheapish, pubs again depends where you are.
6. Setting up the day to day stuff for normal living, doctors, dealing with the council, utilities etc. is very easy.
7. Everything is on-line, it is getting harder all the time to do things the old way.
8. No-one at all knows what is going to happen with Brexit, it is a shit show.

Sky News just reported out of the 5 people on board the helicopter , it was the chairman Vichay , his daughter and 2 pilots , the last passenger has not been named yet which is odd as it will only lead to speculations who that passenger was.
Why is it odd? It was an air crash and fire, sometimes i.d. is difficult and the UK are not in the habit of releasing info until it is confirmed. Speculation is what TV netizens however live on.

Hmm let me think if the Gov is correct about this, tsunami warning buoys not working, a lot of towers not functioning, well except for that all is well and we are prepared. TIT

There is a whole lot of missing information here.
But looks like there needs to be a crack down on yacht charter industry. They are in on it.
Like where are the thai crew? Or were they talking about just the 2 brothers ?And if they were tracking the boat for weeks to darwin then why not intercept? Its ais unit would have been turned on in order for that to happen.
This story leaves you to wonder. The guys are free so mission accomplished. This sais a lot about what australia thinks about thailand. If you can steal a 500,000 dollar yacht and sail to australia and be set free. That says it all right there.
This could make a good movie.
Strange comment from someone that has a very loose grasp on the charter industry, Why on earth would they 'be in on it' ? Also a private hire does not need Thai crew.
