Parents? Police? All culpable. Am I right that roughly 40 (young) people a DAY are killed on Thai roads?
I believe it’s over 60.

HE did not die in a ‘tragic accident’ at all. He died as a consequence of poor choices made by himself and his family combined with a refusal of the police to enforce laws and lack of will from successive governments when it comes to road safety.

Someone doesn’t understand the meaning of the word quarry or the word natural, perhaps neither of the two. Not that bad a thing I guess, unless you’re a journalist.

Clearly this is simply another ‘misunderstanding’.

No, due to their complete disregard for laws and regulations of the road - or any other kind for that matter.

Lots of nonsense in this article as many have already observed.
starting with the dangerously misleading statement that Thais are welcoming and friendly. Should have said ‘many’, or even ‘most’. Then goes on to scams ‘Bangkok's most famous scam is when a local lies to a tourist....’ doesn’t sound too friendly?
Then the bit about ‘jai yen’ which was given the literal translation of ‘cool heart’, which is quite different from it’s real meaning in the context which was to keep a cool head. He then really ought to have warned of the potential consequences of getting loud and angry.
Lots more missing and nonsensical as previous replies state.

“The incident occurred in the middle of the night yesterday, April 7th, on Soi Marine Yen Sabai near Pattaya Walking Street.”
I guess it wasn’t all that ‘yen’ or ‘sabai’ after all.

My wife's own words, "They get cash in their hands, and they cannot อดทน" (perserve, resist the temptation).
I have some very hard working and prudent in-laws.
On the other hand I have some that this sums up, a S-i-l who started a shop but spent the the money that she got from sales rather than just the profit. This inevitably led to her ending up with nothing to sell. Her daughter and the daughter’s ‘tom’ then took on the shop and did exactly the same thing.
A B-i-L is a farmer, whenever he sells a crop they go on a spending spree followed by not having money for things like seed, fertilizer or diesel for the tractors.

It's one that went under my radar.
Has anyone seen this?
I have, I thought that it was ok but that the (Booker Prize winning) book was much more enjoyable.

Anyone under 30 should be limited to riding push bikes like everyone did 50 years ago. Any lunatic can twist a throttle to achieve orbital speeds. It takes real skill and experience to control oneself and the machine. Remaining upright and following the correct line, if learnt from trial and error, can have fatal consequences
About 40 years ago I was 20 and riding around on a Suzuki GT750 like a lunatic, wherever did you get the idea everyone was on a bicycle?
I guess I was lucky I wasn’t born that ten years earlier!

Neither have I.
Perhaps because I live in Suphanburi, drive or ride wherever I go and have never used them.

From the arrival it’s clear that she’s a 28 year old professional, not sure how you twist that into ‘These young dumdums....’

Thanks for the reply. I have considered selling everything and buying new in Thailand, just need to work out the best option.
We brought all of our stuff over from England, no tax because I’m married to a Thai.
That was about eight years ago and we’ve not had a single problem from anything resulting from moving it here so I don’t agree that you’d necessarily have any issues.
The only thing I’ve done is changed plugs on everything, started with adapters but gradually changed them as we settled in.

I thought that was a seperate issue. You probably no more than me, am just an idle observer reading the news and seems a cock up from what i read but sure more nuanced than i know.
I’ve followed it quite closely and although it’s a minor inconvenience to me (I now have to go downstairs to watchTrue rather than watch PSI in bed!), it’s clear that encryption is the one and only reason that it’s been removed from those platforms that are either unable or unwilling to encrypt to the standard required in the contract with FIFA.
i hope everyone gets to enjoy it one way or another.

Why can't they get this together?
It's not that hard to drive relatively safely as a nation.
But to have one of the highest road fatalities in the world.
Isn't it a loss of face?
Not if you’re in denial.

So let me get this straight:
The NBTC a government body lent 600 million to another Government body the SAT to help get the WC rights for all to see
The SAT another government body accepted and also negotiated with corporate sponsors seemingly giving them exclusive rights to 32 matches completely contrary to the all to see regulation
The NBTC were completely silent about this and never even raised it as an issue
When the 1st match started it was clear that it was not free for all and TRUE had been given rights
The public complained and the NBTC quickly trying to save face decided they had to do something
Now they have demanded the money back and looks like hte two government tax payer funded entities will start wasting more taxpayers money in court
So TRUE have effectively had the NBTC subsidize their bid for the best 32 matches- the public cannot see some of them, the money has gone, and the SAT dont have anything to pay back. They are all a complete bunch of incompetent morons who should be sacked and asked to pay the money back themselves.
And lets not forget the President of the SAT is one Prawit Wongsuwan.
Not really, it’s all about encryption and the ability of some broadcasters to prevent their signals from being accessible in other countries.
