  1. I enjoyed the first episode of Grace a few months ago and have been awaiting episode 2. While it's not yet been broadcast in the UK, it has been released on Britbox and I see that it is now on Lime.

"Written by the critically-acclaimed screenwriter Russell Lewis, this adaptation of the bestseller by Peter James stars John Simm and follows the Brighton-based Detective Roy Grace, who has hit rock bottom in his life. His wife Sandy disappeared six years ago, and Roy spends all his time investigating cold cases. Meanwhile, his different ways of working are being questioned by his bosses, risking his job. However, things look set to change when his colleague Detective Glenn Branson asks for his help on a difficult case."

Me and my then wife would cut a night out short to get home in time for HSB , I think it was on late Friday evenings.

Hard to believe it was 40 years ago.

The whole thing is on fmovies if I want to watch it but, like you say, probably better to keep it in the memory banks , after all it will only remind me of my 1st wife !! ????

& @thaibeachlovers don't worry about that, the great characters, acting and writing throughout this show leaves it still very watchable to this day and beyond imho.

I feel that banks will be happy to own a concrete asset which they can just sit on for time, and not just lose their loans to bankrupt individuals. I've known companies (eg Polly Peck) who invested in a shipping company who h went belly up, and ended up owning ships, then employing a ship management company to try to run them. It's called making the best best of a bad job. After a few years the did sell them though. At least at the end of the day you have a physical asset worth cents on the dollar, rather than zip. ????

Polly Peck? That didn't end well, run by crooks and ended up £1.3bn in debt.

This is the best news for a long time. Not just because it seems the production line is rolling now, but because AZ is actually talking after weeks of silence. Ok, they probably need a lot more than 10m per month, but it's a great start.

I've no axe to grind here but FYI I was checking some facts on AZ in Thailand the other day and came across a few updates on the AZ Thailand website, they shouldn't be blamed if news outlets choose not to report it, "weeks of silence" is not correct.

Where's the vax? That's what we really need. About 45% of the US is now vaccinated, and so everywhere's reopening. Amazing considering how at one time we had the highest rate of infections.

These small, occasional shipments from China are ridiculous. Why can't larger supplies be secured, from other sources? Why can't the manufacturing be done here?

Delimondo can be bought for around 295 baht a can through Lazada, I also have found it on the shelves at Villa and Gourmet foods here in Bangkok

However, you can buy fresh made corned beef from a place here in Bangkok from Mama Jeans for 300 baht for 400 grams (with free delivery)

Thanks, that home made stuff looks good, I'll give that a try.

....not to be confused with Mama Jeans maternity wear shop in Utrecht!

  7. Last week we went to the nearest small town to buy some duck food from a shop that was closed a few weeks ago because some of the family had Covid. The cocky young gob<deleted>e who "served" us stood just outside our car, maskless, talking to my wife through the open window. I was getting a bit angry about his selfishness and told him to pull his mask up, he did and laughed at being asked to, so I quite sternly told him "not funny" in Thai at which point he lost his smirk. There is a very high level of mask compliance around here but, as they say, there's always one.

    Exactement.

    The "Big Joke" effect?

Thailand, where doing your job, occasionally is vinyl chart display time.

Begs the questions, what were you doing for the last 7 years? How good a job are you doing to begin with?

I think these pressers are for the bosses.

Quite. And how difficult would it be to "track down" the visa agents who offer extensions for people who don't meet the legal requirements when said agents openly advertise their dodgy services?
