I have a 5 years DL from this same Land Office , which seems to expire 12/2024, however at present I am now using tourist visas and will leave late July.

I'm wondering what , if anything , I might use to fulfill the "residency option" , I stay in a service apartment, but don't think I can use their yellow-book.

    I am from the US.

I will like be back for long stay May 2025, after the DLs expire.

Despite it being > 6 months from expiry, I was thinking of attempting to renew them in July.

    appreciate any feedbacks.

The driver's license can be renewed up to 6 months prior it expiration date. I can not help you about the certificate of residence.

    Thanks @VocalNeal

Could anyone else confirm this please?

    Thanks.

Is it really possible to change from a Non O based on supporting my Thai daughter to a Non B using my new employer at the One-Stop Visa & Work permit department without having to visit a Thai Consulate in another country?

Could you or anyone else confirm this?

I would obviously prefer not to have to fly out of the country if possible.

    Thanks.

I am not sure about your specific type of Non-O, but I am 100% sure that you cannot change from Non-O spouse or marriage visa without leaving the country. At least that is what happened to a colleague at work.

  3. There is really no need to change the Non-O to Non-B, I have been working on a Non-O marriage visa for 10 years now and never had a problem, even having to deal with 2 different immigration offices in 2 different provinces.

In fact, for some job positions, the requirements are different when applying for the same job with a different type of visa, usually with the Non-O visa, requiring less.

As said above, if you have a Non-O marriage visa (1-year extension) you can go directly to the Labor Office to apply for the work permit.

I would tend to agree but in my area of Isaan Honda dealerships are limited and carry the same stock.  Here they told me the 2024 model will arrive in another 3 months - maybe.  Going to another province to purchase one can complicate things even with a cash sale. (registering and red plate wise)

No it isn't. I bought mine in Bangkok and I live in Phetchabun, they shipped the bike from the shop in an enclosed pick-up to my house. They charged 2500thb. I got it with Bangkok license plate (by my request) and my actual address in Phetchabun.

Always Electrolux. Spend the extra money. Well worth it.

Yes, I have 2 Electrolux that came in a set with a kettle (1 set white and the other Stainless Steel) and after 7 or so years still working perfectly. I use them every day.

This photo to me looks like a 4 door sedan, not a pick-up..correct me if I'm wrong!

No sign of an Air-bag having been deployed.

    Fractured screen on passenger's side!

I think they got the wrong photo.

(this photo is courtesy of ChiangmaiCityLife).

I also noticed that…it seems that they are too used to use stock or archive photos

Thais will test everything to the extreme.

A pickup designed for say .one tonne load, will be loaded 10.

Then they will race down the road at max speed.

    Preferably drunk.

    On a wet asphalt.

    Did I forget something? 😵‍💫

    Drugs?

    Did they give a cause?

If they don't have cause you might get 1 month for every year you worked there.

Go to labour office but in my experience large govt schools have friends there.

There's a Facebook group which might help you.

That is actually what I am fighting for, there is no reason of dismissal on the termination letter, on top of that the 2 foreign teachers were fired using the same letter, writing both names. (Only those 2 foreigners were employed at the school). A new “foreign teacher” started working the same day that we were notified. The difference is that the new teacher was hired through an agency and we were hired directly from the school. I have to add, for context that a new director was “appointed” back in October.

A friend of mine was fired from a govt school after 18 years.  He was given no warning and notice and took his case to the top courts and lost.

I think it was because of the the yearly contracts.

In my case, they breached the contract, ending it with a termination letter “handed” to me through a message on a chat app, on the same day they wanted me out of the school. I hope all these play on my favor.

This is my personal view based on experience over several years .....

The Labour Department is very employee focussed, and ex-pat workers have the same rights as Thai nationals (assuming you have a valid work permit).

Unless you are dismissed for an illegal act or other serious issue, you should get 30 days notice plus a month per year of continuous service.  On top of this you can claim several additional months pay based on the unfair dismissal and your personal situation.

The officer will suggest a reasonable amount of compensation, and this will be communicated to your employer.  If your employer does not agree, they will have to appear in person at the Labour Court for the hearing.

In practice the employer will not want to go to Court, so there's a good chance of getting the agreed amount.

It helps to show your monthly expenditure to indicate the financial impact.

Hope it goes well for you.

Excellent and very informative answer, thank you very much @Kinnock. As a matter of fact, today we have done most of the things that you have mentioned, we went to the Labour office, the Secondary Level Education Office (it is in charge of all the high-school schools in the province) (we are not in Bangkok), and even to the Police. All these were recommended by our lawyer.

  11. Hello everyone, as the title says, what kind of compensation could I expect after being fired without notice or warning?

I have been living and working in Thailand for more than 10 years but this is the first time something like this has happened. As all of us know, there are 2 kinds of compensation in Thailand:

    1. What the law says (15 days notice, written warnings, etc.)

    2. What the person can claim (anxiety, stress, loss of future earnings, main family support)

So, what could I expect to receive if my case goes to Labour Court, and what could I expect if it is “amicable” settled?

    Thanks.

I don't know, the oil was changed at one of the Honda agents in Nakhon Sawan.

On the yellow light it says "oil change", but the oil has just been changed by Honda Agent.

Did they reset the “engine oil replacement timing”? On the Yamaha XMAX can be done either on the bike or on the mobile app. I don't know if the Forza has the same.
