  1. So Percy,

Did you buy the Garim unit from ESRI or just have them load in the data set?

Do you know if they will just upload the data set to my Garmin unit and if so for how much?

Also have you used it in the city on some of the small soi's off Sukhumvit?

    Thanks

  2. You want to keep IE around... Their are a few websites that only work on IE - that is bad web design...

If you use Foxfire check out their extentions area... Tools/extentions/get extentions...

I like the world clock one that allows you to put different timezones at the bottom:

    https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1117/

here are some other that are nice:

    https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1269/

    https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/2410/

and if your into customizing the look check out the skins too...

  3. I had it done here in San Francisco a couple of years age (Age 40) by a very established eye surgeon.

I now have perfect vision! - Actually 20/10 now

After 20 years of contact lenses this is wonderful....

The only drawback is that it may have sped up my need for reading glasses (which is inevitable) - But well worth it!!!

I would not skimp on price - Make sure you know who is running the equipment and confirm that they have done the technique MANY times... Those flashy high-tech places may have someone operating the equipment that has only just learned how to do the procedure. And if you go to an established eye surgeon confirm that he/she will do the procedure – not an assistant.

  4. Discounts and kickbacks are not just Thai. Here in the US everywhere from Walmart to Macy's regularly have XX% off... And where do you think all those "Rebate Checks" at Staples go?... back to the Company?... It is human nature at work and it is the same for all nationalities.

I understand your mixed emotions about this - you perceive your product to be above this technic - fearing discounts may reduce its perceived status... Then try another tactic to take advantage of human nature... offer a discount if the customer buys a bundle of products... give a discount for larger quantity or extended service...

Discounts are a fact of life... unless you happen to be in the oil business...

  5. HighonThai,

It will be a good basic machine. Not lightning fast... but it is $450!!!

Since you are in LA i would go look at it at a Dell Direct store:

    http://www1.us.dell.com/content/products/c...s=19&l=en&s=dhs

Make the salesguy turn the machine off and reboot for you to see how long it takes to boot up and get up and running for you...

Pay the extra $10 for the XP Home Edition re-installation CD

Once you get it look into extra ram chip for $30-50 - will speed it up

  6. Juan, a quick google of your model number brings up mainly European links - That would indicate your model was designed and sold only in Europe - I would try Toshiba's website and choose a European country which you understand the lauguage and contact their tech support - they should be able to get you a replacement disk - or even better they may have it as a download somewhere on their website! - Good Luck

  7. If you are not a computer geek I would stay away from any used equipment – Used equipment will have no warranty, support and will have many software changes by the previous owner – and as always BUYER BEWARE

Since your need are basic I would buy a new basic computer from a large reputable maker like Dell or Gateway. (Stay away from those off names at Best Buy – you will never get a tech guy on the phone)

    Here are a couple suggestions:

    http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/con...c=iB120S2&s=dhs

    http://gateway.com/products/gconfig/prodde...ystem_id=nx200s

I bought a Dell for my Dad but the Gateway I show above has a printer, Microsoft Works and a widescreen to watch DVDs for $599!!!

Make sure any computer you buy has a modem and wifi built in.

Select to have the operating software on a separate disk (You have to ask for this at Dell)

Do not let them sell you additional insurance – They make LOTS of money on that stuff – so you most likely lose in the deal…

And with any computer you decide – as soon as you get it (Before you make ANY changes to the software) find a “Geek” to make a COMPLETE MIRROR COPY of your hard drive with all the software that came with it onto a CD – This restore CD will be invaluable – It can be used in the future to have your computer hard drive returned to its original state if you get any nasty computer virus - Which will happen!!!!

  8. Most Voip phone you find are nothing nore than cheap mics and headsets with built in numeric pads. You do not need a "Voip Phone" to take advantage of the Voip function. All you need is a nice headset & mic that plugs into you PC The Voip software has the dialpad built in.

If you really want a phone take a look at what will be available soon for Skype...
