  1. Most new 108G routers are downward compatible and should work with your a-g... When you search for available wifi systems can you see theirs?... Do they allow anyone with a laptop to log onto their system?.. Someone might have set up the cyber cafe security so that their network is not visible which is common security measure to limit access to only their computers

  2. If I was a preschooler and got to choose my county to be in the choice would not be difficult...

If you were a pre-schooler in our country and could identify the US on a map you would be one of the better educated pre-schoolers. Since it is likely that would be the only country you could Identify as that pre-schooler the choice would be easy.

Now that I am done having fun with you.....I agree with you. But barely. There are alot of really cool countries in the world. That doesn't mean I think we do everything right because we most certainly don't. But we do a lot right.

The key is we are doing.

My point was meant to be a comparison of the US vs China... Many here think that China will grow into some economic nirvana and give the nasty Americans their comeuppance... The reality is that China's growing wealth is being horded by an even smaller % of its population than the US... And the vast majority of China's people will never see their newly rich/government spend let alone borrow a dime to benefit its people...

  3. Has anyone seen any advertisements for the roll out of the new Vista operating system that will replace XP?... If you are in the market for a computer you could go two ways... wait and get the the most up to date operating system or wait and get a good deal on a tried and true XP machine when they need to clear the shelves for the new computers?...

  4. lingling you are too much of a girlyman for the engineering challenge...

I think if you have a good design that shelters the glass walls from the sun you will not have too much expansion/contraction problems and the flat roof is modern technological advancement that will be fine if you have proper drainage and use a seamless sheet of PVC that is covered with a good substructure and UV protected...

The major hurdle will be finding a nice quiet lot to build the place...

Nikkijah - note this pic has a cool way to incorporate your spiral staircase in a nice brick center column... Please do not put any straight looking lawn furniture up on your deck roof...

  5. I think the Bauhaus design is very compatible to the urban BKK architecture... I would have the whole house up on a 2nd floor stilts (just like traditional Thai house) and have parking underneath and a central spiral staircase. You could get yourself up high enough to have a cool rooftop vista...

Have you done any research on the supplier of windows?... seems like you could find a suppliers of industrial grade plate windows ( 3x3 meter with aluminum frame) and design the structure around a multiple of that standard size. Also I would assume the structure would be of reinforced concrete - you would need a builder that could construct a structure out of concrete that was delicate enough to stick to the Bauhaus style. I think my example of Costa Lanta veered from the delicate Bauhaus look because of lack of expertise in forming concrete structures...

  6. But in the present situation the baht is at 36 and FALLING to say 35.80... Every time this happens the BOT (I assume it is them) moves in and props the rate back to 36... MarkUK if you are buying $ you would prefer the baht fall to say 35.80 from its present 36 (Pegged by BOT)

My question is how long can BOT afford to do this? Are they not just inviting speculators to pour more money into Thailand if the BOT is willing to sell them baht at a rate above market? Seems like they are taking a course of action that would build up tension in the market to the point at which the market just snaps...
