  1. And a great convenience that I'll take every time. Now looking forward to free and online 90-day reports far, far into the horizon.
  2. I just handed my passport and 500B to an agent of Chang and sat in a seat for ten minutes.
  3. So what do you need that space for? The option for the external GPU was a big factor for me. I can put two on this thing if I want. And still have ports enough to drive OP's three displays. I think you can put 2 4K displays on each of the Thunderbolt ports, 2 4K displays on the two leftover USB 3.2 ports, and then 2 4K displays using the two HDMI ports, and that's without resorting to the external GPU. You can host 2 M.2 devices and 1 SATA SSD so that's, what, 12TB SSD available? And still can resort to adding drives via USB, possibly via a hub which then gives you another half-dozen ports? I feel like I can run my own space program with this thing.
  4. I don't know what to tell you. FIve minutes ordering the system online. Five days later, another five minutes and I'm installing Ubuntu and with absolutely no drama throughout. I'm assuming Intel knows what it's doing, and is capable of producing a bare-bones system that I won't have to mess with. Can something go wrong? Sure. It just seems really unlikely with this approach. I also like that, when it's moving time again, the drama-free experience continues.
  5. I can now say I've built a half-dozen systems in my life. The ones I built back home were pretty straightforward owing to the reliable supply chain. The ones I built in SE Asia, not so much. You get an issue with a motherboard or RAM and it's a huge PITA to chase down a solution here, and expensive too. The NUC I got was on some kind of sale as I compared the price with what I would've paid back home and it was virtually the same, so that's what really tipped the scales for me.
  6. It's been hard fighting through the censorship but eventually the truth takes hold. Just have to be persistent and recognize that not everyone is able to think critically.
  7. Just went for a late generation NUC, have to say, am pretty happy. The two HDMI ports plus one of the three(!) USB 3.2 ports should satisfy your monitor requirement. It's basically an unlocked laptop CPU /w integrated GPU but it's fast and quiet. And one of those USB 3.2 ports can be used to add an external GPU, should that requirement ever appear. Really, USB 3.2 is the game changer. Big desktops don't make as much sense anymore.
  8. Many fond memories of KSK, going back to maybe 2010? It was an ideal place to be a new farang; you had familiar and easy-to-access shoppes but then also more authentically Thai places for food and massage than you usually find in the more modern malls. And then of course the market out front, and if you were a brave pedestrian, the moat and the old city is right across the street. I might have considered the Nimman section again were I to return to CM but my thinking was always that if I were to do that it would be because KSK is just a few blocks away. Sad to hear it's going.
  9. Especially in jurisdictions where the government paid the hospital handsomely to conflate the two.
  10. The possibility of reason is scheduled for sometime in the next decade. Until then, Chang.
  11. Surviving in the wild is easy. Civilization is the real test. Neighbor balcony to mine likes to grow trees or bushes or whatever. Attracts birds. They build nests. Well guess what? When it comes time for the little chicks to go stretch their wings, they get to do so twenty stories off the ground. One of them got lucky and landed on my balcony. Didn't know what to do so I just let it be. Sure enough, along come the parents to harangue the poor thing into taking flight again. Up it goes. Peep peep peep. Then down it goes. Not a sound. Brutal. Don't let birds build nests on your balcony if you are so high that you don't think the babies will survive the fall.
  12. 7/11. Beer aisle. Chang will kill anything.
  13. I can't believe they would re-criminalize, esp. after wreckage to businesses here caused by covid. Now you're going to shut these new businesses too? There should be stern penalties for enabling underage use and exposing others to smoke. Beyond that there is little point to further regulation given how little damage has been caused in these past months. Give us all a break.
  14. Couldn't resist necro'ing this thread. Please SBF, bestow upon us more of your wisdom! Just how insolvent are they lol?
  15. Put up a sign that says "Free beer for overstayers." No, it won't get them all, but it will get some. You're welcome.
  16. Rigging social media isn't stealing an election if it's the Democrats who win because of it, is what I'm hearing here. It will be interesting to see how long that holds up when the shoe is on the other foot. Peace.
  17. You appear to not understand. I don't visit World News ever. That's not why I come on Asean Now. However, the website features a section on the right of the page that is called Topics, and that will display stories from all over the site, regardless of whether or not I'm interested in the subject matter or not. This is a highly controversial subject. If you're going to drag me unwillingly into it, then I'm going to look at what other stories were posted in World News to see whether or not the site is being moderated fairly. Putting a topic up about Trump calling for the "termination" the Constitution is already inflammatory given that this is not what he said, but it is especially so when you don't bother to report on the very damning evidence being released by Twitter that is context to his post and that demonstrates unequivocally how incredibly corrupt this last election was. This is what he actually said. Are we allowed to post what he actually said here or is that too inconvenient to the narrative that you're trying to sell?
  18. No such thread appears to exist in World News. How about fixing the site so that people like me, who came to Thailand to get away from this <deleted>, aren't made to view it? The Topics sidebar is the root of all evil here. I want to know about visa stuff, advance notice of no-beer days, and maybe general news re: Thailand if it isn't too gory.
  19. Nice to see this story picked up by AN but not the story about Twitter collusion. If you can't be fair in your coverage, why even have a World News section in the first place? Such irresponsibility only throws gasoline on the fire.
  20. Might want to check on hotel requirements though. I was about to enter Vietnam a few months back, and though proof of vaccination wasn't required by Vietnam itself, browsing for accommodations on AirBNB showed that the vast majority of hotels and guesthouses demanded it.
  21. I am happy to see the Russians arriving if only because it makes the Thais happy. Don't like seeing businesses struggling. That said, the west is going to crack down on this, I can guarantee it. Found to be facilitating flights into and out of Russia using Boeings or Airbuses? Expect to see spare parts purchases become impossible and soon. Thais and Russians should plan accordingly.
  22. Get somebody to answer what the rules are for anchoring your boat off the beach, like we see in Pattaya and Jomtien. When the next door neighbor is busy puffing away and all of that noxious smoke ends up in my condo, I often fantasize what it would be like to just be out there instead. Grab delivery to a jet ski guy who performs the last mile probably would work, right?
  23. Are we saying that unlicensed Bolt drivers are the cause of the carnage seen on Thailand's roads? If not, then this is a misdirection of energies that are better spent elsewhere.
  24. I lived in the same building pre-covid and they allowed deliveries to the unit and it was great. Upon returning post-covid I just assumed that it would return to normal and so didn't bother to ask, and so I was very sad to find out that no, no more deliveries, this after I sign the lease of course, and now I'm this sad figure who has to shuffle downstairs and wait curbside for my food to arrive. It's actually causing me to consider moving to a house or some other abode where delivery to my door is available. You get older it's that big of a deal.
