  1. You've got maybe twenty years of history with vaporization now greatly complicated by covid versus the thousands of years of smoking with no recorded fatality. And especially with the potent strains we see today where even the tiniest puff sends you into the stratosphere and which greatly mitigates whatever damage smoke may cause, the right choice today is the bong.
  2. Still too early to say that in my view. One of mj's greatest attributes is how long mankind has been using it and with no ill effect. That consumption has been primarily by eating it or smoking it. The manner by which it is ingested needs to be taken into consideration when evaluating that track record.
  3. Para Surfing is not the same thing as putting on a parachute and being dragged by a boat. This is where you have some kind of surf board and control the parasail by hand. Often seen on Jomtien, though not as often as the other kind. I do think though that the level of difficulty may out it out of reach for many people. Also you need a lot of wind, so not every day.
  4. Makati has actual sidewalks. And cabs can get around in Makati pretty well. Touch EDSA though and say goodbye to the evening.
  5. The queue looks scary right after lunch but it gets consumed pretty quickly; my last visit I was in line for maybe 10 minutes.
  6. My God, are those oz's? This is gotta see for myself. Klang or Sukhumviet?
  7. There are two that I know of on Jomtien Beach Road: Kiwi Bar and Southern Coffee. Both have big pot leaves on their signs out front.
  8. It was a beautiful woman who sold me my first legal weed. I gotta say, that moment was really surreal.
  9. You know, the Thais wouldn't have had to ban extracts to keep me away from them, that stuff is actually dangerous, at least when you're not the one doing the extracting. I've had my obligatory omg-ate-too-much episode and it's not fun. And so many people don't understand the onset times, and think 30 minutes later that they need to eat more to get high. Big sigh. When they legalized in Colorado and we saw things like butane-extractions going explosive and cookies being eaten by little kids, I was convinced the whole exercise was about promoting Reefer Madness - The Sequel. Thankfully I was wrong but I still think it was bone-headed to go that way.
  10. For extracts, things like hash or oil or pollen or whatever. Marijuana the plant is fully legal.
  11. That was the original fear, alas, the law permits stronger varieties. And what I saw on sale today was not hemp rope.
  12. I'm in a condo though which overlooking the ocean doesn't get any sun. Or is the suggestion that I can buy the tent, the lamps, all of that hydro stuff here in Thailand? It would satisfy my consistency requirements. I'll think about it. Thanks.
  13. Ok, then as Thailand is the only ASEAN country where marijuana plant is legal, I guess my new post in the Pattaya forum is against forum rules?
  14. We've received permission to discuss this provided the talk is limited to the plant and doesn't refer to extract. So... my very brief foray into the world of buying pot in Thailand found me at a coffee shop in Jomtien today selling grams of flower with labels like White Widow, Indica and Sativa for 500-600 baht. That's for one gram. 500-600 baht. I was thinking more of paying 500-600 baht for maybe an eighth of an ounce. I'm not looking for face-melting stuff. Just basic weed, ya know? Ideally, this would be from some source here in Thailand and the same product would always be available and for the same reasonable price. I'm guessing that the coffee shops aren't going to be the ones who fill this niche. And now that it's legal, we should start seeing more wholesale operations springing up, yes? So tell us about one of those if you've found one.
  15. Good afternoon Mods, hope you're all having a great day! Title is self-explanatory. I am specifically interested in sharing information about variety of strains, quality, price (of course), and eventually, consistency in all of the above over time. Thanks!
  16. I have one of these. As mentioned, for the money extra you pay it is a good deal. Mostly Thai channels but that's fine given we're in Thailand. I also think the Thai shopping channels are hilarious. However, I bought the JVC Deep Bass Bluetooth headphones from IT City hoping for a better audio experience for movies/music (the TV that comes with the condo is actually pretty good but the speakers suck) and it just can't achieve a stable connection. Granted, I am in a nest of condos here in Jomtien with like 100 wifi routers all showing up on the list and Bluetooth uses 2.4Ghz too, however, I can achieve stable connection between the headphones and my Android phone and my Linux laptop. So I blame the Android TV. So I want another option. The Android TV has a jack titled AV that seems to let me plug in my earbuds, but no sound comes through. Googling for AV here is next to useless, it is such an overused term that the results are meaningless. So that's a bummer. The unit also has an SPDIF output. Has anyone had any luck using that? Was at Tukcom today and one store did have a DAC that accepted Toslink but only RCA out, no 3.5mm jack. Ideally I'd find a pair of expensive surround headphones that connected directly to the SPDIF with maybe a 3M cable but such things don't really even exist back home. But the Android TV would seem to support that, showing options for Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS and AAC output. I see on Lazada that there are boxes that accept SPDIF and provide headphone jacks, and then use a 3.5mm extension cord to let me listen from the couch, but wanted to check here first in case there's a better solution. Sound bar is out as I like to keep my door open for the good breeze and want to be a good neighbor; it always seems like with movies you have to crank it all the way up to understand the dialogue. TV has no headphone jack either, only another Toslink jack. Thanks in advance for your input.
  17. I predict fatalities among the many pedestrians who use engine sound as their cue that oncoming traffic is approaching.
  18. Ok I misunderstood. I was thinking Manila would mean Bangkok Bank or the like. If I can do U S. Bank then that is more palatable.
  19. The problem with that is that I'm not entirely sure I'll be staying in Thailand for the duration. I also have the retirement visa equivalent in Mexico. I get to do both, a little here, a little there. So U.S. bank is much preferred as I can easily access the money from wherever, and since I am expected to pay taxes to the U.S. when overseas and using this bank then this should not be a problem, yes? I was thinking that surely it'd be easy to change which bank I receive payments to, but after reading this, and with first-hand experience of all matters related to money in the Philippines, the answer is no. I'm going to contact my U.S. Senator to resolve any problems I have? Are you kidding? I've been out of the U.S. so long I forget which state I'm from (only partly kidding, what counts as residency?) And how does that even work when there are on average like three million citizens per Senator? Recipe for real pain is what that is.
  20. Isn't it great that they make life so difficult for us overseas but still expect us to pay U.S. taxes? Question/warning: when I last looked into this issue, I was set to prime a U.S. number (meaning using a U.S. sim while in the U.S.) but then I read the fine print on the contract and it talked about how they would deactivate the sim if you didn't return to the U.S. with some specific interval (I want today six months but not sure.) So I passed. Has anyone here ever seen their sim deactivate on this way? BTW, I once tried to use a U.S. sim I bought online while in Mexico. It lasted for all of five minutes lol. My real goal was to add a FIDO security key to my Bank of America account and to do that they wanted a U.S. phone number! But I was ready and the moment I activated the sim I immediately added the key and did it within the five minutes! Ha! First time I've ever won with stuff like this! Cost me like eighty bucks total I think but worth it, though BofA will sometimes scare me with the phone number request but so far I've always been able to work around it (fingers crossed.)
  21. Can't create my mySocialSecurity account. Login.gov insists I provide a U.S. phone number. I don't have one. I've run into this issue in the past and researched some of these services that allege to give you a U.S. number from overseas but they all seem very fly-by-night so I always gave it the pass. But if the alternative is dealing with Manila and especially after reading this thread I will make the effort to get the phone number. Thanks for the good info. Sorry you're having so many problems OP.
  22. When you find a good place, relish it, because it won't stay good for long.
