  1. The lockdowns really degraded my ability to walk around, but I think in my case it is due to being sedentary for so long and not breathing related. However, we're getting really bad air here in Pattaya(!) and I'm starting to feel compounding effects... wondering if OP just recently started experiencing this too and might be coincidental with the bad air too?
  2. She also appears to suffer from a faulty memory. She made allegations against Alan Dershowitz, which we are now made to understand she's since retracted. Maybe it was somebody else having sex with her and she simply misremembered who. p.s. No way is King Charles worth £650 million. The Crown owns half of Canada; they're the biggest land owner in all the world, except maybe the Saudis.
  3. You mean like in a Hollywood romantic comedy? C'mon. Head over to the weed forum. Get yourself a good sativa blend. Allow yourself to reset expectations.
  4. This is my take as well, plus, I have no dependents, which makes even more of a no-brainer. As to OPs query, I am torn between Thailand and Mexico. A big advantage for Mexico is it appears to be a lot easier for me to live on the beach, simply because there is so much more of it there. I mean, actually living on the beach, but with some kind of permanent structure to provide shelter and all of the other conveniences. A big reason for this is fear of falling. I fell twice in my 50s and it was some scary stuff. It hasn't been that many years since and I rather doubt I'd fare as well today. Fall on the beach and if somebody is taking a video it'd be safe to add a laugh track. Condo floor with the hard tile wouldn't be as funny. Plus I pull my weight in the beer-drinking dept., so the hazard is increased somewhat. So... for me not being able to get immediate life-saving treatment isn't as scary as becoming incapacitated, as breaking a hip or worse in a fall would surely do. Imagine wanting to end your life and not being able to do so. Shiver. Until then, move slowly and cautiously and yell at people who get in your way.
  5. Having experience at being a small child I think I can correctly state that Archie and Lilibet are thrilled to stay home instead and do kid stuff.
  6. Did my extension online Mar. 5, was approved Mar. 7. Process took three minutes. And I used Chrome! But since everybody here is complaining, I'll join in the fun: I wish JavaScript developers would stop forcing us to use date controls that don't correctly accept keyboard input. Also I think the site would benefit from having a dark mode.
  7. How many lives could be saved in Thailand if people too drunk to drive had their vehicles stolen from them? Maybe this should become a trend?
  8. Alternatively, drink the vodka yourself and marvel at your newfound tolerance for pigeon poop.
  9. Should also include the advisory that rain is wet, and that mud can occur when rain meets dirt, and so individuals need to take care where they step.
  10. Meanwhile, you can get a 10-pack of box cutters from Amazon delivered to your door for $9.99. Is it also because of the PATRIOT Act that I have to have the U.S.-based phone number to access the mySSN portal? That in the end was the show-stopper for me. I maintain a U.S. based mailing address for a reason, as a place where important and sensitive documents can be sent to me regardless of where in the world I happen to be at the moment. Forcing me to use a Thai address (or Mexico if/when that happens again) essentially forces me to see information I want to see stay secure, like my SSN, available to any individual with the motive and opportunity to acccess it. For instance, while we can say good things about the Thai postal service, my last notice from Social Security was just left sitting there in my condo inbox. Anybody at all could see it, know what it was, and take advantage of the situation. And what then when I return to Mexico? As much as I love Mexico, their postal system is famously unreliable. Will they also be sending my SSN in the mail to me there? Whereas, if I were allowed to use my U.S. mailing address, I could use a service like DHL to have the document delivered to me securely.
  11. I'd like to believe that. In any case, and as a general comment, I desperately wanted to use my U.S. address, simply because that's the one I use for IRS stuff already, and because I will likely be changing residences in the future and then have to go through all of this all over again. The fear there is should you slip through a crack in the process it is tantamount to potentially losing your benefit. That said, I also had reservations about dealing with Manila. But those turned out to be unfounded. My application process went about as smoothly as could be hoped for. One final comment: they will send mail to your Thai address that contains your SSN. So if you have identity vulnerabilities, it's something to factor into your decision I think.
  12. The only contribution I would deign to make on Thai culture is that western feminism should be kept as far away from it as possible. Let the west collapse under the weight of it and let the rest of the world see with their own eyes just how valuable their own cultures are without it.
  13. Your recourse when overcharged for goods and services is to pay the bill and then never return.
  14. It's mostly for show. They get away with it because pigeons can't swim.
  15. It's called planned obsolescence, and its new champion is the lithium battery. The obvious course would be to make products that require the use of batteries to use AA, AAA, AAAA, etc. But then we wouldn't ever be in OP's predicament where faced with a dead battery we must resort to purchasing a whole new product.
  16. But what, normal lions are okey dokey and let's have one over for beer? Pass.
  17. Don't see weed grows exploding or spontaneously-combusting. Dude needs to 420.
  18. Bank letter at the BKK branch is more painless than in the past.
  19. People feed them on the beach, then they fly up to my balcony to poop. Can't explain that! The building across from mine has a balcony where they keep a full-size model of an eagle or whatever. I'm guessing it's effective only because it isn't covered in pigeon poop. Building doesn't allow cats.
  20. Whatever you do OP, keep your friend away from Fresnel lenses. Get one that's large enough and you can melt metal.
  21. Some bad dudes in Nongprue district. I'm just going to stay here in Pattaya.
  22. Do Myanmar citizens have special rights to own property in Thailand? Or are we just talking about condos?
  23. Probably want to post this to the Marijuana forum too.
