Indonesian tourist’s false Thai honeymoon drama debunked
"Viral"?24,500 views. OMG! I understand that Thai officials feel insulted but honestly why make a deal out of this? Just let it die, and be subsumed by tomorrow's viral video. But no, Thai officials think they have to win every argument so give this more life.

Use Taylor Swift disappointment to fuel Thai soft power
What a miserable op-ed piece. Reeks of envy and self-loathing. If a Thai cultural element is worthy of achieving "soft power" it will happen naturally, in a free and open society. Thais are forced to self-censor, so that won't lead to new forms of expression.

AOT and immigration unite to tackle Suvarnabhumi Airport queues
There are so many variables, and meshed processes, which vary by departing and arriving flights, that optimization is challenging. For arriving passengers it starts with banks of flights causing peak flight ops (landings per hour), and for departing passengers, traffic jams on level four. One little hiccup and that day's performance goals are shot. Staffing seems to be the number one problem, other than Customs of course who simply sleep through their shift. Pay people a premium for work at the airport. Scheduling might be the next biggest hurdle. Aligning peak times with proper staffing levels is a must. And coordination between functioning organizations, which is probably non-existent today, may be the third biggest issue. Solutions will take more than words and surprise visits. IMO one person must own the proper functioning of the airport and that would be the Minister of Transport. If they can't do the job fire them and hire someone who can.

No Cabinet Reshuffle Until After Budget Bill Becomes Law: Phumtham
It's barely been six months and talks of a reshuffle already? Barely enough time to form committees. Things must truly be catastrophic. Then they can skim their management fees, and shuffle off to another Ministry.

Srettha, the easily shocked premiere
For the record, not a single vote was cast for Srettha. That's kind of a trend in Thai politics/history. OK, maybe one, that of Paetongtarn.

Srettha, the easily shocked premiere
He lives the sheltered life of a billionaire and appears to be a few carrots short of a bunch. His lack of common knowledge is depressing, but Thailand is not exactly a meritocracy so you get what you get. That he expresses "shock" when made aware of issues tells me that he is prevaricating, or is truly dumb.

Bangkok’s eastern and central bus terminals set for relocation
The land at Ekkamai would likely fetch record sales given the location. Throwing the Eastern terminal in with the North/Northeastern was probably an afterthought. The facility at Mor Chit seems to have some serious structural and operational issues. Curious about where this multi-story facility will be built? Not a lot of open land. Bulldoze Chatuchak Market? (I know it's an icon, but so was Hua Lumphong.)

PM Buys Oil Painting At Pattani Market For 30,000 Baht
The new government seems to be making some headway with peace talks in the South. Appointing a civilian negotiator on the Thai side instead of a military man is seen as a positive. The painting is entitled "Peace" and shows a young Buddhist and Muslim working together. As mfd101 suggests, symbolism. Still not sure how they'll square the "independence" circle? ISOC's Road Checkpoints Removal Signals Strategic Peace Negotiations with BRN ISOC's bold move to dismantle road checkpoints in Thailand's Deep South signifies a symbolic gesture towards peace talks with the BRN rebel group, fostering trust and reconciliation in a region long plagued by conflict. https://bnnbreaking.com/politics/charting-a-new-course-for-peace-the-dismantling-of-checkpoints-in-thailands-restive-south

No Talk Between Thaksin And Hun Sen About Maritime Boundaries Dispute: MP
I hope the powers-that-be here know what they're doing making this deal with the Devil. They did all they could to prevent a Hun-like familial dynasty here which in Cambodia dominates the Norodom dynasty.

Ex-politician cleared of murder plot in Thai political feud
There is a thin line between Provincial Officials and gangsters. OK, maybe no line, but more of a significant overlap in the Venn diagram. Political associations are informally agreed to be a no-no here, but that's just for national politics. Otherwise, arguments would escalate daily. Yes, there are infrequent attempts.

Need to prove current address in Thailand .In English
Certificate of Residence from Immigration? easy to get but these are mailed out and usually received within 7 days. TM.30? PDF from website TM.47? from the website, both the TM47 submitted (shows address) and the associated Receipt of Notification. But who knows who is asking for this from the OP. Obviously they must have a list of acceptable documents.

PM Buys Oil Painting At Pattani Market For 30,000 Baht
30,000! What a rube. Paying for "Peace" in the south one putz at a time. And folks complain about us foreigners overpaying for a taxi by 30 baht, or leaving a small change tip.

Thailand aims to become Southeast Asia’s top hub for international concerts
Singapore envy. Now start yapping about F1. This hubbub talk is just that, talk. Thais often confuse talking about something with doing something. Fugettaboutit. Hotels, flights booked out as ‘Swift effect’ hits Singapore SINGAPORE – The “Swift effect” is about to hit South-east Asia, but Singapore has left some of its neighbours seeing red while it profits from a Taylor-made tourism boom as the star’s only stop in the region. More than 300,000 fans from the city-state and neighbouring countries will attend the American superstar’s six sold-out Eras Tour shows at the National Stadium from March 2 to 9. https://www.straitstimes.com/life/entertainment/hotels-flights-booked-out-as-swift-effect-hits-singapore

Big Joke fights for his name as summons rumours swirl around him linked with gambling sites
According to some reports, the potential case against Hapkarn has been referred to the NACC because of his senior position. His crew of eight have been trying to get their investigation switched from the DSI to the CIB, the latter of which they may have more leverage over. This case is said to have at least 61 suspects, some of which are police officers. No one has been charged. Hapkarn's gang has been accused of threatening investigators, so the case may proceed more slowly. Everyone is innocent. The RTP is squeaky clean, except for maybe a few bad apples.

Maybe Thailand should follow Korea and be more selective of expats/tourists
From the linked article... Those who engage in illegal activities, exploit the vulnerabilities of Thai society, or display a persistent pattern of racist and disrespectful behavior should be subject to review and potential deportation. "Disrespectful behavior" seems like an overly broad restriction, and could be used like many "laws" here are, to randomly apply punishments. Honk your horn if you agree.

Thailand Adjusts Excise Taxes on Local Liquor to Boost Tourism
There have been some great articles in the past few weeks with all the details; the tax system is quite convoluted with ad valorem, and ABV charges amoong others. One article I saw mentioned 115 baht less now on a 1,145 "average" bottle of wine, so ~ 10% less. But I think that figure ignores the duty elimination on wine. The duty exemption on wine from ~ 50% to 0% is temporary, just for one year.
