  1. Many, many great threads here, so a search will probably help you. One recent example: https://aseannow.com/topic/1310564-us-passport-renewal-question/ https://th.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/passports/instructions-for-ds-82-processing-by-mail-and-online-fee-payment-for-u-s-citizens-residing-in-thailand/ Recent first-hand reports are five to six weeks door-to-door.
  2. I doubt any investors are going to fall for this "bridge for sale" scam. Easily the stupidest idea I've seen out of Thai officials, including GT 200 bomb detectors, digital wallets, and submarines. But the PM will probably top this with another handful of idiotic ideas.
  3. AFAIK Thailand has dropped the Frigate swap and is committed to the Yuan-class S26T with the Chinese CHD620 engine. Backing out now has zero momentum.
  4. AFAIK, ThaiBev is the sole franchiser of Starbucks here through their Coffee Concepts subsidiary (with Maxim's Caterers and F&N Retail) 4,000+ employees. 465 branches. 800,000 customers per week. Year 2021, total income 6,135.81 million baht, profit 164.65 million baht Year 2022, total income 8,389 million baht, profit 833 million baht. Seems like a very positive story.
  5. This controversial temple has been flying under the radar since the sensational 23-day siege in 2017, in an attempt by the military Junta to arrest Abbot Phra Dhammajayo. He is still MIA.
  6. 7. Enable WiFi Calling. https://www.androidauthority.com/does-mint-mobile-support-wi-fi-calling-3342519/ 8. Disable Mobile Data (on the Mint Mobile eSIM.
  7. I'd take three steps Samsung TV, Settings, General, External Device Manager, Device Connect Manager, Toggle Access Notification to "Always", Device List, Select any items/devices not recognized, and toggle to "Deny". Google Account: Change Password, and enable 2FA (maybe best to use the phone as the "key" device). Home Network/Router: Change Router password, Change WiFi SSIDs (and do not Broadcast them), and change WiFi network (2.4/5) passwords.
  8. Fidelity offers fee-free (no charge) SWIFT Wire Transfers. Note that you have to set up a Standing First-Party Wire Transfer Order for each Thai account. This needs to be done in person in the U.S. at a Fidelity branch as it requires a Medallion Guarantee Stamp. I need to call in the transfer each month. Send USD (Fidelity uses JP Morgan Chase as the intermediary bank) and let Bangkok Bank do the exchange where they use their daily TT rate, less a 200 ~ 500 baht (max fee). Takes 12 - 18 hours. Any remittance gets that same TT rate. Pick up the Credit Advice Receipt monthly (if on the 65,000 Baht track), and they'll prepare a letter for Immigration summarizing the twelve Credit Advice Receipts. Fidelity also offers ATM fee rebates, usually within a few days. For ATM withdrawals you get the daily Visa rate. And their Visa Credit Card now offers 0 % foreign transaction fees. And it supports Tap&Go. I think Schwab offers similar services, maybe even more streamlined.
  9. Three steps: Register Add address file for individuals To register you'll need the GF's Thai ID card, and the Blue Book, scanned into JPGs, which you will attach/upload. Very simple. The User's Guide describes all. https://tm30.immigration.go.th/TM30/Foreigner/TM30EN/index.html
  10. So you are registered, and have added the property (address) but are unclear on how to file a report for an individual staying at the registered property? https://tm30.immigration.go.th/TM30/Foreigner/TM30EN/index.html https://tm30.immigration.go.th/TM30/Foreigner/TM30EN/Notify-Residence.html
  11. This change has been announced as being "Permanent" which is significant. Most other recent "modifications" (Russia, Khazakstan, etc.) were/are temporary. A govt spokesman told media a few more details of this mutual visa-waiver program for Chinese and Thai travelers: 30 days of visa free travel, but multiple entires within 180 days (or 6 months) musn't exceed 90 days in total and an agreement will be finalized in late Feb. No word on extensions, yet.
  12. In related - monorail - news... Wheel falls off Yellow Line train. The Electric Train Wheel Falling Accident: Transport Minister Rushes to Inspect the Scene The electric train again”, the last yellow line This time the wheel came off and fell onto the taxi below. On Thepharak Road on the exit side Before reaching Sri Thepha station Samut Prakan Province Fortunately only the car broke down, no one was injured or killed. Recently the “transport minister” rushed to inspect the accident site . At 6.30pm on 2 January 2024, Police Lieutenant Thitiwat Kerdkaew, Deputy Inspector (Investigation), Samrong Nuea Police Station. I received a report of a Yellow Line train wheel falling onto a taxi, causing damage. The accident occurred near Sri Thepha Station, Theparak Road, towards Sri Thepha Intersection, Theparak Subdistrict, Mueang Samut Prakan District. After being notified, we went to investigate. A yellow-green taxi was found at the accident site, about 100 meters before Srithepha station. Brand Toyota Altis Registration Number 1 Kho 7631 Bangkok Parked in the middle of the road On examination of the front bonnet area, it was found to be damaged. As for the edge of the sidewalk, about 20 meters from the taxi, a wheel of the electric train was found fallen, so the officers brought a garbage can and set it up to block it. To prevent danger and I closed a traffic lane to clear the scene. As for the train whose wheel came off, it has already returned to the station of origin. Initially there were no injuries or deaths https://www.newsdirectory3.com/the-electric-train-wheel-falling-accident-transport-minister-rushes-to-inspect-the-scene/
  13. I think this article has been debunked, TAT admitted using data from 2019. Khaosod English about an hour ago · Correction: The Tourism Authority of Thailand has on its FB page wrongly cited old stats regarding Bangkok being the most visited city in the world in 2023. The data, originally from Mastercards' Global Destination Cities Index in fact was from the year 2019. #Thailand #WhatsHappeningInThailand #Bangkok
  14. To register? This varies and depends on the situation but generally speaking... The owners ID The housebook
  15. So the authorities are relying on the statement of an incoherent, hallucinating suspect as to the drugs he ingested? From the linked article: When interrogated, Thanet was incoherent, but it was established that he had consumed a mixture of kratom and procodyl cough syrup, and smoked marijuana, leading to severe hallucinations and erratic behaviour. Procodyl seems to be a bit of a problem here, and is abused mostly in combination with many, many other "chasers", most often Tramadol (aka Taxi), Xanax, Dextromethorphan,
  16. Yes. My earlier post was incorrect. And this change is confirmed by several airlines' information pages. ANA for example: In accordance with the instructions from the airport authorities, Business Class passengers currently cannot use FAST TRACK Arrivals 2. They should instead use one of the priority lanes within the inspection areas Arrivals 1 and 3. https://www.ana.co.jp/en/th/travel-information/airport-and-city-info/bangkok/
  17. Based on replies here, and Reddit, it sounds like you CAN purchase and activate a MintMobile eSIM here in Thailand. But you need to purchase international credits aka UpRoam ($5 minimum) when setting up your account. This enables international roaming on your eSIM, which allows a connection to AIS or DTAC (T-Mos partners here) which then allows activation. I think all MintMobile plans include WiFi calling. But you may have to enable it and have a compatible phone.
  18. You can only search for and find records added in the last seven days. You can just refile at any time, you do not have to re-register. Then search for this new, latest record, once displayed click on the magnifying glass to generate, download and print/save a PDF. On the website. https://tm30.immigration.go.th/TM30/Foreigner/TM30EN/index.html
  19. Did your landlord ever file a TM30? I think landlords (Thai) are reticent about renting to foreigners as they may not want to declare the income, and think that Imm will report them to Revenue. Some landlords restructure leases into two parts: rent and infrastructure, with the former being income. IMO/E I would never go to CW for an ext stay renewal without piles of documents re: domicile. Lease: term runs longer than the applied for ext stay + ~ 3 months) Blue book signed by landlord Thai ID card (landlord) – lined through twice, "for Immigration" signed TM30 filing , preferably on the new system Most recent 90-day report Photo_ House, self, number and name visible Hand-drawn map + Gooogle maps TM6 copies Are all these mandatory? Perhaps not, but someone has reported that they were asked for one or more of these in a first-hand trip report.
  20. Yes, all categories are clear in the photo. I only highlighted the two that seemed applicable to the OP. MICE= Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, Expositions. Incentives are sales meetings for those who made their quota.
  21. In business class, yes, Priority lane/aka Fast Track between the east and west arrivals entrances. Show your boarding pass. Also available to all over 70 years old.
  22. Yeah, you figure it's got to be in the high end of the 1 Million to 10 Million range.
  23. In other news... 81,000 loan sharks are seeking retribution against 110,000 plus debtors for ratting them out to the government. Snitches get stitches.
  24. Cricket was a Sprint MVNO so would not have service in Thailand. But T-Mobile bought Cricket so anything is possible, you could probably contact T-Mo and get the number re-activated or ported out to T-Mo or one of their MVNO partners. Does your Cricket phone use a SIM card? I can't see a Cricket phone working here with a Mint SIM. Did you buy the Mint SIM in the U.S.? When? Did you activate it successfully there? It worked fine and then when you got to Thailand it didn't? Where did this "old" iPhone come from?
