For the record it is NOT an ELECTION, it is a SELECTION.
And it will be about as democratic as the sham "vote" on the most recent Constitution.
With a poll tax of 2,500 baht that makes it out of reach of most commoners, but cheap enough to stuff with cronies that'll vote for whoever you want

Prachanban means battle, fight

getting back on topic, to be fair, if you know what the name Prachanban means in thai, the restaurant is almost asking for it

Samsung seem to have phone specific interpreter called live translate, is it better than standard google translate?
Even google own phone the pixel has live translate, the difference seem to be that it doesn't need data connection to work as it stays on the phone

Ah, behold the grandiose spectacle following the momentous media exposition we've beheld! We're now ensconced in an opulent opus overflowing with ostentatious adjectives, parading as pertinent news, yet alas, it regurgitates content previously presented. Does the website garner gains based on the gargantuan gamut of gratuitous articles generated, even if they merely echo past pronouncements?

I'd say I've seen professionalism and enthusiasm more in Australia from retail workers - looking at the minimum wage they're paying it's understandable
restaurants- in Thailand if it's not big chain owned and the owners are hands on in training and on-site the service is usually good, if they have incentives for the waiter to sell wines and such they learn to become knowledgeable

Crowd's different, lots of girls with cameras taking photos of everything, whereas before it was more 'grown up'

While elephants are in their natural habitat, humans happens to build into their land, and now with elephant numbers on the rise due to either various conservation effort or lack of food forcing them into human occupied area, it's only a matter of time before it become big problem like monkeys in Lopburi, elephant attack/encroachment on built areas were unhearad of but are now daily occurrence in Chantaburi and areas around Khao Yai, it's cute tourists can come see elephants until it is not, Lopburi was like that too a decade a go with a few monkeys in isolated area

If the AC has a wall plug (like most split units do), I'd suggest a power monitor like this to see what it's actually using. Run all the traps like cleaning the filters, make sure it's properly charged, etc. ...Most split unit installation in Thailand don't use plug and sockerts, but instead wired in often with separate breaker from the consumer unit, so smart plug/power monitor that can go between will be difficult, getting smart breaker to replace the existing one is probably easier

Most Thai restaurants in walking distance of Sukhumvit especially around the BTS stations are probably catering more to tourists like Soi 4 or corner of 11/1, or really upscale, cusine specific like Southern restaurant in Soi8, Plenty more around Soi 11 and 23, but all are on the upscale side

Yong Lee on the corner of soi 15, the cuisine is more Chinese Thai, especially 'Cook Shop' style from Chinese cooks that used to work in western hotels and embassy, some dish looks like they are from the 70s probably on its last legs now, but a piece of history with original decor,
used to be popular hanging out spot for GIs back in the day, some chairs and bars even have metal plaque of the regular patron etched on them

48hr work week.
Max 8hr per day.
Equals 6 days a week.
We operate 24/7/365, 500+ staff at my work.... work 7 days.
Sadly though, we only get the labor law stipulated min 13 public holidays :-(.... paid as triple time to those that are working.
Triple? law says 1.5 times, triple is only when you do overtime during the 'day off'

Not up to her, up to the parents to press charge or not

Consent for sex is one thing
there's also the 'taking away a minor away from their parent' or abducton which in this case minor is 15-18, doesn't matter if she consents to having sex or not
QuoteSection 317 Whoever, without reasonable cause, takes away a child not yet over fifteen years of age from the parent, guardian or person looking after such child, shall be punished with imprisonment of three to fifteen years and fined of six thousand to thirty thousand Baht.
Whoever dishonestly buys, disposes of or accepts such child to taken away according to the first paragraph, shall be liable to the same punishment as the person who takes the child away. If the offence of this Section has committed for lucre or indecent purpose, the offender shall be punished with imprisonment of five to twenty years and fined of ten thousand to forty thousand Baht.
Section 318 Whoever, takes away a minor over fifteen years but not yet over eighteen years of age from the parent, guardian or person looking after such minor against a will of such minor, shall be punished with imprisonment of two to ten years and fined of four thousand to twenty thousand Baht.
Whoever dishonestly buys, disposes of or accepts a minor to taken away according to the first paragraph, shall be liable to the same punishment as the person who takes such minor away. If the offence according to this Section has committed for lucre or indecent purpose, the offender shall be punished with imprisonment of three to fifteen years and fined of six thousand to thirty thousand Baht.
Section 319 Whoever, takes away a minor over fifteen years of age but not yet over eighteen years of age from the parent, guardian or person looking after such minor for lucre or indecent purpose with the consent of such minor, shall be punished with imprisonment of two to ten years and fined of four thousand to twenty thousand Baht.

You don't know the mom&pop shop in my village
The lady would not understand 1/2inch (niu krueng).
Even after pointing to the designation on the pipe she insisted its "si hun".
And that the pipe is by no way a 1/2 inch pipe but just a "symbolic"/trade name is another topic.
Because it's Krueng Neu, Neu Krueng would be an inch and a half 🙂

Wonderful world of non metrics
Thailand is 90% metric.
90%: still using PSI and some other confusing stuff (water in 5 gallon containers) and water pipes in most confusing mix of inch and old Chinese measures ("hun").
I've never seen anything measured in actual 'hun' most of the time they just substitute it for eights of an inch, There's Chinese inch 寸 which the hun is based on which is actually 1.3 imperial inch and the 'hun' is 10th of that, they're roughly 3cm, not a problem for hardware like rebar or pipe fittings that's supposed to screw together but the actual measurement is 31.7 for the 'hun' or 33.3, confusing and starting to creep in more as I've noticed measuring tape from China that looks like inch on one side but not quite right.

13 is the legal minimum holidays , and many only pay just that, while this might seem a lot compared to say the UK with only 8 bank holidays, Thai workers get much less paid annual leave, usually 6-10 days depending on tenure compared to westerners that got almost a month annual leave

I've sometimes wondered why Apple Pay isn't available in Thailand whereas it is in Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam. I suppose it's the same old story of the large Thai banks/telcoms/corporates using their very strong links with government to block innovative outside commercial interests.
The fact that Samsung Pay was available, and left Thailand due to lack of use, and now Some Thai Banks (Bangkok Bank and K Bank, which controls the majority of credit cards terminals in Thailand) works with Google Pay/Wallet I would say the onus is more on Apple not offering a competitive deal or anything to the Banks rather than anything more sinister

A separate TOU meter while your previous house meter remains on the old tariff is only possible with EV charger though, they don't want you having the best of both worlds,
this is only done in PEA area and not MEA (Bangkok)

I think Thailand should only allow cannabis in Public hospitals for medical purposes.

To date I don't see any distinction between the retail shops that operate as a medical dispensary with thai traditional medicine licence vs just shops that sell recreationally, are they even being policed?
