  1. A notice has just appeared on the opening page, apologizing for the recent outages,  saying that it should be

OK again in the New Year. I have just tested a range of TV choices and found them to be completely stable. They say that they have removed a number of the less watched channels to improve the stability.

My access to HDPrime has become unwatchable over last few days.

Any others with this problem? No response to e-mail contact

Yes, same here. TV element has been unwatchable for days now. Football last weekend was reasonably stable, so my fingers are crossed for this weekend. The SERIES and MOVIES have been very stable thankfully.

I am guessing they are on leave at present. Normally they reply to e-mails queries within an hour.

They are here already, coming from Udon Thani to Nong Khai on Friday, I passed, at high speed, 2 Policemen using a speed camera mounted on a tripod. First time I have seen that in Thailand.

Ye gads. Why not throw in a banana slice and a little colorful umbrella. Can you even taste the tea? Reminds me of those who buy an excellent Scotch whiskey and drown it in Diet Coke or Sprite. Fairly certain in Scotland that's a capital offence.

I drink  Assam, Ceylon or Oolong and feel I'm going rogue by adding a little non-dairy creamer. Difficult to get a decent black tea here, although Teekanne makes a good Assam and for Oolong the Long Keng brand is very good.

There are, or at least were, a couple of Whittard's of Chelsea shops in Bangkok that had a decent range of loose black teas, but they were somewhat hit or miss on what they had in stock from one time to the next. It's been several years since I've been in one ... I think there was one in Siam Square and/or Central.

It is certainly a capital offense to describe Scotch as being “whiskey”. I am both Scottish and a tee-totaller.

training people to drive in a respectful manner helps prevent accidents giving police access to a money machine in the form of a radar gun wont stop accidents from happening people will just start ducking and diving all over the road when they see a policeman with a gun in his hand and motorcyclists will be diving across the dual carriageway to avoid police and cause more accidents, better to spend your time looking out for police than watching the road and other motorists.

How will the Police Operator deal with the motorbike/car/elephant going the wrong way, will his gun show a negative figure? I can see an money making opportunity for the temples who can issue an anti-speed gun amulet.

Well, at least the Germans are happy - another Benz in circulation.

Never understood that not a single Thai ever publicly asked why a civil servant drives (or is driven in) a car, well knowing that the same civil servant could not even cough up the cash for petrol and highway tolls ........

The Mercedes Benz is exactly the model that I saw a local Head Monk arrive in recently at a local temple event. He was of course accompanied by police outriders on motorbikes and cars. Whilst his henchman sat beside me collecting huge wads of cash from locals who had come to hear the Head Monk pontificate. Not just the Bib at the trough.

Even the military wear shorts as I well know being ex myself. Only excused if you have a doctors note. And wearing shorts isn't discourteous. It not the dress it's the manner in which you display yourself. And before you should feel ashamed of your fellow customers you should read the newspapers on how certain Thais display themselves abroad ie shopping malls. Oh yeah it works both ways.

You should have just stuck to the facts instead of criticising others. Would have been a worthy post then.

When I return to live in Thailand (maybe next year, after my stint in Myanmar), I have an open-choice where I live.

I enjoy jogging and would like to live in a town where it is safe and feasible to jog along a long promenade.

Now what towns can offer that?

    From my own personal knowledge:

    - Nong Khai has a nice promenade, (as does Vientiane over in Laos)

    - Pattaya has a long promenade from Walking Street up to the Dolphin Roundabout

    - Jomtien Beach is not bad (there isn't a promenade to speak of, but the beach footpath is probably ok)

    Can anyone suggest other locations?

Sri Chiang Mai, near Tha Bo, Nong Khai has a dedicated "blue path' for runners and cyclists. It is over 5k in length, runs along the Mekong , very safe and fairly well lit, for the most part. No attractions as per a Pattaya jog though.

He ain't going to get squat! The bib beat him to it.

Why was he sitting on the winning ticket, it makes no sense. The people who "stole" it, seemed to have had no problem in cashing it, presumably he did not sign the reverse to claim ownership. What "stub" is being referred to in the report. The ticket seller "remembers" him, I don't think so.

My Marriage extension last 2 times i never even got to sit down before being called. Obviously doing the documents is agony, i realised never to volunteer documents after the first 2 times, as it just delays the process. I usually get writers cramp countersigning the one inch high stack of A4! 90 days and re-entries i do about 2-30 pm and never had more than one person in front (usually zero), Joys of Isaan.

Last week in Nong Khai, my Extension of Stay (Retirement) took 1 hour , start to finish. A newish female Captain who checked and re-checked all through the process. Very polite, and she actually addressed me on occasion. The office was devoid of customers at 1pm. Nothing unexpected as I had previously popped in to double check on the needed documents, and seasoning requirements.

Working for me ,right now, it wont work if you use a VPN,

    regards worgeordie

Just tried this for the first time, seems very stable , excellent picture quality, and a wide choice, a handy addition to what is currently available. I had my VPN on all the time, by mistake actually, no problems noted.

  12. Before people post queries regarding anything about the process of obtaining any service via a Thai Immigration office, they should fill in a prepared box showing,

    nationality

    age of applicant

    type of extension

    office they intend using

    + any other relevant factors

Sometimes posters only hear what they want to hear and the best attempts of others to assist is wasted upon them.

Bottom line is, you will have to do what your local office says, regardless of your thoughts. Unfortunately.

A couple of years ago I was accused of shag---g a girl (40+) from the village.

"You were seen taking her into the sugar field."

I protested my innocence but no good; "You did it". The wife was convinced of my guilt. And kept telling me. I was almost convinced myself!! Nice bit of stuff she was too but I couldn't think of anything more uncomfortable than 'love in that sugar field'.

One day the old guy, who saw us shag--g in the sugar field, had cross words with the wife's sister. The wife took the sister's side; "I knew he was lying about you and the lady! So why did you accuse me then dearest? To hurt you when we argue."

    What could I say? Thainess!!

My wife has just returned from a cross country run in Phao Yao, whilst away she had a dream that I had a gik. She asked me about this upon her return this morning. Honestly folks, what do you say in reply to this sort of nonsense. Apparently the extended family have been checking to ensure I was sleeping alone at my house, and not spending nights away.

What I found out yesterday when using HDPrime, is that when channels are buffering or don't play, I did the speed test again and switched servers. Then all very good again.

I found that when I switched off my Zenmate application all buffering stopped.

I have operated with bank tellers in Thailand, and somehow a very simple transaction requires a lot of hassle and paperwork. I have watched the tellers work "slow" and very precisely to get things done - even to the point that I've wondered how pedant and at the same time daft does one have to be to work in a bank in Thailand.

Now, reading the above, I am VERY PLEASED to note that it was to my benefit to be able to carefully watch every single step of the operation, and have exactly the agreed amounts on my account, the passbook and cash.

As an ex bank cashier and as a Military Cashier I am astonished by the way some bank tellers work here. Desks are full of paper, money is being passed between cashiers, people are talking to each other, it is shambolic, I always worked with a totally clean desk, and never carried personal money into my cage or office. I paid a large amount of cash in last week, it took almost 20 minutes for it to be fully processed. It should take only 5 minutes. The bank manager oversaw the transaction. I had my passbook updated at the counter, checked it and left. Strangely this branch does not use the security counters, but transactions are completed in the open office.

    HDPrime is getting heaps better.
Of late, every time I complain, they answer promptly, and have tried a few different configurations for me. In the account section you can run speed tests and select the best combination of servers etc.
All coming together nicely for me I think.

Yes I would agree. There has been a significant improvement in service, buffering on live tv in particular is down considerably. Movies and series are loading and playing with ease. Their response time to any queries you may have is better than any company I have ever dealt with, almost immediately replying.
