  1. I don't know how you are controlling the channel access, but on my mouse-driven android box a short click on the left mouse button chooses the channel.

A longer press adds (or removes) the channel to (or from) the favourites page.

I am still watching via my laptop, hooked up to a big TV,so therefore using the laptop mouse. I have yet to order the ILIKEHD android box.

  2. If you are in say Movies, simply click on the star type icon and the movie will be placed in your watchlist, see the left hand side of screen where it gives choices of types of movie. Same applies in the Series section.

  3. A few years ago Iwas in a shop I frequent often paid for my food with a 20 she gave me change for a 10. I explained to her the problem she insisted I gave hera 10 but no I only had a 20 and I come in here a lot and would not want to cheat the owner please give mecorrect change, she did. She didn't last long only one week. this happened in the states at the time myfavorite coffee shop. Cheats happen every where. I do not expect to get cheated and it doesn't happen too often.

I have had to stop my habit of giving a combination of notes and coin to assist the shop-keeper, say my meal was 85baht, and I would give a 100 baht note and a 5 baht coin, expecting a 20 baht note in return, but the looks I get are out of this world. It appears to be outside the wit of the average Thai to accept this method of payment. I have stood over cashiers and added up in my head the list of 9 items we ate, have said out loud in Thai the total sum, and the cashier is still inputting data.

  4. Wait now for the approved e-mail.

I got at least one approval with the email missing.

Best you do a daily check in the evening (status).

You don't need a long reference number just use the tab for name and passport number.

Yes, exactly the same thing happened to me, so I now check the website a couple of times, until I see the approval is there. I cut and paste the long number to avoid any mistypes. I will give the passport number box a try though.
  5. Most of the intelligent young people I know take selfies. It's an entirely normal thing that people everywhere do.

I was referring to obsessive selfie behavior, such as those who post selfies on Facebook everyday or take selfies at a dinner pretending to have a "great time" with the friends they didn't even speak to other than to decide on the order and split the bill.

I have stopped accompanying my wife on evenings out with her pals, I have no desire to sit in a dusty field, listenening to Thai pop music, and watch them take selfies whilst hardly a word is spoken, they may as well stay at home and have a Virtual experience, it would save me money.

  6. Seems rather pointless and futile, as their "friends" no doubt also busy taking & posting selfies.... who has time to look at others selfies? Like a chain letter to ones self....

The selfie craze and the strange photograph taking of your latest dish of somtam is ultimately self defeating. My wifes pals sit around a table, all with a smartphone, all taking pictures, updating their Facebook page, but the social interaction part of their meeting is being ignored, hardly any talk and hardly any eating of food.Post the meeting, hours are then spent checking for posts by friends and making sure unflattering pictures are not being published. The Banksy drawing of 2 lovers kissing, whilst both at the same time are checking their phones, sums up the madness.

  7. Thanks for the help smile.png

Khon kaen was my original idea.

I figured there would be enough people speak English there with all the universities around the area?

I only know enough thai to be polite.

Would you say khon kaen is better for a young farang than Udon thani ?

I actually enjoy deafening nightclubs once in a while, so that ticks a box for me lol.

I'm still swaying toward Udon Thani because there are more westerners and the night life seems to be better. Not a big party guy, but I do enjoy bars and nightclubs

Enjoy the best of both places, find accommodation in both towns and rent on a monthly basis, there is plenty of transport from Central to KK.

There are not so many young farang around either town though.

  8. I agree that ILikeHd is a very good service, offering a wide range of programmes, at very reasonable prices. Discounts are generous if buying multiple options. I have experienced a few hang ups , but nothing too serious. The VOD for films and series is really extensive. They also have their own android box. True,Cth,Gmm et al, will not be seeing my baht in the future.

  9. I seem to remember that the PM told the police to take care of the people over this period, seems neither the police nor the public took any notice, as usual.

I can only guess as to what part alcohol played in all this, you add to that Thai driving skills and its no surprise. Thais clearly cannot handle either and there seems no politcal will to change either of these. Until they take the bull by the horns and deal with these issues nothing will change, I will just keep off the roads until normal service has been resumed and thats bad enough.

I am not sure that the people of the area of Isaan I live in bother to watch the Prime Ministers show on a Friday night. I had to drive into Nong Khai on the 13th, and was abs olutely taken aback by the way locals were behaving, stopping cars on the main road, soaking motorcyclists, young children running over the road , and on my return trip it was noticeable that groups of young men, were intent on causing trouble. Defensive and very slow driving was the order of the day. Only one police checkpoint seen, no police present, just some uniformed locals busy texting.

  10. Must be the worst value lottery n the world

Lucky numbers should not exist in any properly run lottery.

It is about time Tesco, 7/11, Big C et al had lottery machines installed and the locals could buy their "lucky" numbers, to their hearts content.Petrol stations would also be a good location. Does anyone have the actual income and expenditure figures for a recent draw, or is that a secret?

  11. The KU dish cost 2000 baht to buy and install which was a hit I reluctantly took. It is working perfectly at the moment with good picture quality with zero pixellation and freezing. The CTH box enables us to have all the Fox sports and movies channels, and we get to see all the Premier League games too. The Premier League games will cease at the end of this season, of course and the CTH channels will be free for a year, hopefully. So far so good. I am not gloating but just wish to inform others that reside in Thailand of the current position. I hope my experience helps others.

This is a good update with factual information. I am in the exact same situation, and was waiting to see what would happen with EPL in 2016/17. I have gone to ilikehd on a trial basis in the interim. It does have some very good features, but it seems to be hanging a lot of the time.

If I can pay 2000 baht locally, then a Ku band dish will be installed soonest. As I haveCTh top package for another 9 months or so.

  12. We just received a phone call from Nong Khai Immigration saying that there is a meeting for all Farang in Nong Khai on the 19th. They will be giving a briefing on the new rules regarding overstays.

    Who is "we" ?

Do they only want Western caucasians to attend, or did you mean "foreigners" ?

As my first wife intercepted the phone call from immigration, I am using the "Royal" "We" to refer to myself and aforesaid wife. They want me to attend, and I posted the fact that I had received a phone call as a heads up to other members. They asked me, specifically, to tell any other "Farang" in the town that I knew, about the meeting.

I doubt there will be many Lao, Myanmar migrant workers attending the Assawan hotel on the 19th.

  13. Anyone else using Microsoft Windows 10 (Edge) without problems to submit there report?

I have tried two different computers, both unable to submit with Windows Edge without it taking forever to type in characters. Please post and let me know your experience.

NOTE: For those who know whats really going on, here is the link to the the broken code line ?: https://extranet.immigration.go.th/fn90online/online/tm47/includes/javascript/validate.js

The Nov 04 date, actually appears on the www. Immigration............ Page, when you are logging in. I use an old computer with internet explorer, no problems, and this morning printed out my approved page and date of next appointment.

  14. That's interesting. So internally the system works and you got an e-mail.

But with the external link it is still out of order (unchanged from this morning).

Thats it in a nutshell. Received the "approved" e-mail today at 14:32, and went onine to get my printout reeipt for inclusion in my passport. As you say, the main site was down, I will check again tomorrow. It does however mean I have no reason to go to the office and see the very attractive Captain in charge. On my last visit she gave me her personal card, and told me to call if I had any problems!!

Are you a handsome man then? Certainly not, but 6' tall, thin as a rake and tanned.

I will give it a go for the first time next week with Jomtien, Chonburi as the reporting office. My buddy says he has done about five in succession with them online and never had to wait more than a day for the email acknowledgement. He even had one of them approved while he went off for a cup of tea after online filing, say 5 minutes.

Nong Khai staff seem to be on the ball with most things, and really want everyone to complete online.
