  1. Better call Saul Breaking Bad Sons of anarchy Paradise (pretty recent serie - think its really refreshing) currently Season 2 is running Pluribus (also new and from Vince Giligan - it's a bit slow but the scenes created are fantastic) Recent movies (i leave out the classics they are all referenced enough) Frankenstein (Guillermo del Toro) Bugonia Black Phone 1 Weapons Sisu
  2. I’d like to ask other expats who are married to or in a long-term relationship with a Thai woman if they’ve experienced something similar. From time to time, my wife mentions numbers or financial claims that are clearly impossible. For example, the latest one from today: a small yaba dealer got caught and news stated he has 20,000 million baht (twentythousandmillions) in his possession. As someone who works with numbers and economics, this immediately triggers me because I know it can’t be true. But when I question it or try to explain calmly why it doesn’t add up, it somehow triggers something emotional in her, and the conversation escalates very quickly. What I genuinely don’t understand is the reason: Is this a cultural thing? Do Thai news sometimes use numbers loosely or dramatically for impact? Is it related to how numbers, money, or status are perceived or talked about? Is there a tendency in local news to exaggerate financial figures because most people don’t question or calculate them? Is it about face, storytelling, exaggeration, or something else entirely? Or is it simply information being repeated without ever being questioned? I am sure you’ve had similar experiences — or if you have insight from living in Thailand or being married to a Thai partner — I’d really appreciate your perspective.
  3. Lack of awareness and wrong incentives.. Our niece 16 years, is close to 80 kilos. Grew up with Grandma. Whenever relatives, her mother, her brothers are visiting: "ohooo you are fat" - Grandmother gets the very proud look on her face "See, i took really good care nah?"
  4. having the urge to wash the hair with shampoo after they get caught in rain
  5. 1. Make an oven yourself if you like DYI - plenty of instructional videos out there 2. Go and buy one in Macro or homepro - they are dirtcheap or 3. Order it online - plenty of good quality supplier, delivering all over Thailand 4. Buy the bread at Tops, Rimping, local bakery There's no excuse, if you love bread, to buy that low quality, white bread in Tesco or Big C
  6. If it's that cheap white bread you find at every Big C, the kind that makes your stomach burp all afternoon, mayonnaise made only of sugar and flavor enhancers, bland lettuce, and Thai market tomatoes with no taste – 69 THB. You bake your own bread using high-quality ingredients, make your own mayo or use a premium import, sweet and flavorful imported tomatoes, crisp fresh lettuce, perfectly marinated and grilled chicken – 250 THB.
  7. If it was a catholic priest touching his GF's face? Invited them to his sacristy? But he's a buddhist monk, he wears a traditional robe and the temple we are in looks so authentic, so let's do it for the experience this will be quite a story to tell at home 🤨
  8. There's hardly or never a thing like a knife fight. Let's both pull our knifes and let's duel - engarde 😆 That was way in the old days or in Hollywood movies. A knife is made to be felt and not to be seen But Silat is fun to practice as like every other martial art there is.
  9. just so chilled - could watch for hours. The guy built 3 huge Aquarium / Terrariums and connects them all together. Has various animals, fishes, insects etc. Editing, filming is high quality https://www.youtube.com/@AntsCanada
  10. An altercation like this does not happen out of the blue. Belgian Man: Would you be so kind to move your car Indiens: Take out sticks and rocks and start fighting You exactly know that there's always a buildup, posturing, verbal escalation, pre-thread cues and such. And there came the sense of superiority in play, wanting to impress his GF, maybe Alcohol (an assumption of mine) and testosteron. I am talking about the pre-fight not the fight itself. Excuse me if that was not clearly written. Of course in a fight, MMA training gives you an advantage as every other martial art training does, there i agree with you. So, how this would have been solved in self-protection (not self-defense there's a big difference - self defense is implying that you are in a self defense situation already) when you are trained in self-protection, simply you wouldn't be there, the fight wouldn't have happened because you have the situational awareness and walk away from such situations, they are simply not worth it. I am also not implying non-violence per se don't get me wrong - if you are in a code red situation you have to neutralize the threat without hesitating but the key is always awareness. It can safe your life and kids still have a father and not a dead one who was a hero in a dispute over a parking lot.
  11. The word "false" was probably missplaced excuse me - But i believe that Martial Arts Training especially Combat Sports like MMA where the philosophical aspect is not part of the curriculum, is boosting the ego of young men. If you read the article there was another case sometime ago with a thai muay Thai fighter, also for a parking lot. I followed a similar case back home where also a Muay Thai fighter, a young guy of 25 years got killed because he had to confront some idiots who blocked "his" parking lot. That's why is say, MMA Training, testosteron, GF nearby and most probably also alcohol it's a dangerous mix. And the Belgian was indeed very very lucky - if one or even two of the others pulled a knife on him it's game over. Most important is to get home at the end of day to your loved ones. A blocked driveway is never ever a reason to risk your life.
  12. MMA is not self defense. In a cage there's a certain set of rules. What his MMA training did, was probably giving him a false sense of superiority and a lot of testosteron what lead to the escalation of the situation. Let alone the fact his GF was near and he wanted to impress her. If 4 guys attack with sticks and other objects with intention there's a high chance you get seriously hurt or even die. Well trained MMA fighter or not. If they really have mafia connections he has to look out for quite some time - all that for a blocked driveway.
  13. Are you guys happy with your MU-X or would you never again buy it? I am new to the brand and looking for no-go's, confirmations and any other first hand experience. I appreciate it - Thanks alot.
  14. I always crack up at such bigoted scenes everywhere in the world, but Thailand just seems to have the best ones. Right now over here in Isaan, it's the talk of the town, or rather, the talk of our village: The head monk has taken in two Black novices. Most villagers, who have never seen a Black person in real life, are in a commotion. "Should I give a Black person a wai? That’s unthinkable!" 🤣🤣
  15. Homevisits are only once on the first extension from my experience. If you move and you apply for the extension in another area/other immigration for the first time they make the homevisit again - the following years not anymore. That applied to Chiang Mai and now the same to Ubon.
