  1. Thanks for all your comments. First of all, I've taught in Thailand for a total of 8 years. I was actually thinking of St. Roberts but haven't even heard any reports of their course having been accepted by KruSapa (T.C.T.) this year yet. Most of my ex-colleagues have got a PGCEi but the course will cost around 200k, which I've found a bit too much to me. Thanks again for your info, though.
  2. Hi, I came back to Thailand from Penang, Malaysia by train through Padang Besar last month. I was away from Thailand for about 2 weeks then. The IO on the Thai side did take a few minutes before he stamped me in after asking me several questions (I have so many stamps of Non-B extensions in my passport). The train back to Hat Yai left about an hour behind schedule. FYI, there are 2 trains between Hat Yai and Padang Besar (1 morning one and 1 afternoon one) and I took the afternoon one to Hat Yai.
  3. Hi All, I quit my job at school in Thailand earlier this year after having used up all teaching waivers, and I've just got a job offered by a new school in Thailand now. Would there be any good idea to keep on teaching in Thailand, like doing a course for a Thai teacher's license? Have you heard about any reports recently of having been accepted by Teacher's Council of Thailand after finishing a course at St. Robert's? It's not an option at all to take a course for PGCE because it'll cost you as much as around 200kB. Thank you in advance!
  4. Hi, I've left and entered Thailand via this border post before, and you can walk between the immigrations on both side no problem. I'm not sure if the Thai Immigration could let you back in on the same day, though. They might tell you to stay in Malaysia for a night or two before letting you back in.
  5. I landed in Malaysia today, and the IO didn't ask me for an onward ticket. I'm going to enter Thailand by land because I want to go by train.
  6. Hi, I just arrived in Singapore from Japan, waiting for my connecting flight to Malaysia now. When I checked in at Kansai Airport, the counter attendant first asked me if I had got an onward ticket out of Malaysia, and I answered no, adding that I'd then go to Thailand by land. Do you know what she asked me then? 'Do you have a credit card on you now?' I answered yes and then she asked me to buy one with the card if I should end up having to buy it at the worse-case scenario when I landed at Malaysia. She let me check in, and I didn't sign any paper on that, though. Have you ever been asked to show an onward ticket upon arrival in Malaysia by air? Thank you in advance.
  7. Apparently, that will take 2 working days now, so you won't be able to collect it till Wednesday afternoon if you apply for one on Monday morning, right? I thought that it would be only 1 working day, though.
  8. That's good to know, ubonjoe! Will the process still take 1 working day like you go to the consulate to apply for a visa on Monday morning and collect it the next afternoon?
  9. Thank you for your info, ubonjoe, As for the bank statement, how long should you get it in advance before the visa application has been done? I have a bank account in Thailand.
  10. Hello, Will it still be as easy to get a tourist visa at The Thai Consulate in Savannakhet, Laos, as it used to be? Do you need to book an appointment to apply for one there like you have to in Vientiane? Ordo you need to show an onward ticket, a booking confirmation of your hotel room or bank statement for 20kB per person? Thank you in advance.
  11. Yes, it is amazing news indeed!
  12. Dear stratocaster, Thank you for the details! As for the story about the guy who was refused a tourist visa, is that the Thai Consulate in Penang?
  13. Dear MajorTom, What did you do then? Did you extend your 5-year DL by only 2 years?
  14. Hello, I did extend my 1st 2-year Thai DL by 5 years on a Non-B visa last January. Hope that helps.
  15. Dear stratocaster, Thanx very much for your updated info! Would you mind my asking you if you last entered Malaysia by air or by land, and came back to Thailand from there on a visa exempt entry or a visa? WOW, even Banana GH has been closed, too, hasn't it? I last visited Penang before Covid came, and it had started to go upmarket already, though. Thank you!
  16. Hello, I'm planning to go to Malaysia by land next month, and has anybody been given 90 days to stay in the country on a visa exempt entry recently? I last went there before Covid came but was able to get 90 days, though. Thank you
  17. Dear All, Thank you for all your info and opinions! What would you think about it if I should come back to Thailand by land?
  18. Hi All, I'm currently staying in Thailand on a visa now but will leave and come back to The Kingdom on a visa exempt entry next month. My question is 'Have you ever been asked by IO to show an onward ticket or 20kB cash when you made a visa exempt entry into Thailand lately?' I've entered Thailand by air or by land, on a visa exempt or a visa so many times, but never ever been asked by IO to show either of the two before, though. Thank you in advance!
