  1. Thank you for your advice indeed!
  2. Hi All, I'd like to dispose of my PC that I never use again. Do you know how to dispose of it or where to take it to erase my personal data on it? Thank you in advance.
  3. Hi, I just found this post now. This must be too late for you but I do hope that it helps tourists who are thinking of travelling this route in the future. The info I'm going to give you now is a bit old, so please double-check it. As for Bo-Y border, it's open to the international tourists, too, but I'm not sure about the visa stuff because I don't need one to enter VN or Laos. As for how to get to the border from Nha Trang, there were buses to Pleiku (or 'Gia Lai' as locals call) and onto Kon Tum, where you could change all the way to Pakse in Laos. (I'm pretty sure you'd have to spend a night in either of those 2 VN towns.) I read some post, reporting that there are lots of buses going to the border for a visa run now so there might be direct buses from Nha Trang. I'm not sure. It's a long way (more than 400km) and could take 10hrs each way, though. The last town in VN before the border is 'Ngọc Hồi' and the first town in Laos after that is 'Attapeu.' I have taken a local bus to the border from Kon Tum and another one from Attapeu to Ngọc Hồi once before. Hope that helps.
  4. So sad to hear about the news I'm at a loss for words now.. I don't even remember how many times he has helped me by answering my questions, not only in the posts but also in my personal messages, and this is his last message back to me on how long I should spend in Malaysia before coming back to Thailand by land last March. I can't even believe my ears when I heard about the news.. You were my / our hero!! R.I.P. ubonjoe
  5. And get ready for the ban on selling alcohol starting the night before The Election Day (probably at 6pm) !
  6. Hi, When I flew Scoot to Penang from Osaka, Japan via Singapore last year, I was asked at the check-in counter if I had an onward ticket out of Malaysia. I answered that I didn't because I was going to Thailand from there by land. And then the ground staff member asked if I had a credit card (just in case I should end up having to buy a ticket to go back to Japan after getting denied entry into Malaysia without the ticket on me). And I answered yes before she issued a ticket to me. Hope that helps.
  7. Hi, I talked with 3 locals about selling my motorbike, one of whom is the owner of a bike shop where I sometimes go get it checked. He said that I would also need a proof of address to sell it, so you'd need that as well as The Green Book, of course! When asked how much he could sell it at, the owner wouldn't answer my answer straight away but told me it could sell at 5k-6kB if it was a Honda Click! (That's too cheap for Phuket, where everything is more expensive!) One of the other 2 locals advised me NOT to sell it at a bike shop but direct to a buyer. Not only that local but the other one took photos of my motorbike (the owner of the bike shop didn't) to look for a buyer for me! I'll see what happens!
  8. Good evening, Thanks very much for your tips! I've just remembered going to the DLT alone with The Green Book & the power of attorney from the seller (I don't remember if I had a certificate of residence with me then. I did, I suppose, though). And then I filled in the selling form and where I needed to in the power of attorney as the buyer. The officer in charge filled in where the seller needed to in the selling form. So all the documents that I'll need as the seller are a selling form and a power of attorney (that have been filled in where I'll need to as the seller) plus copies of my passport photo & visa pages and the tax sticker. Is that correct?
  9. Oh, I see.. The buyer working in the bike shop was a Thai, wasn't he? I might of needed to have a WP because I went to the DLT on my own to transfer registration as a foreigner.
  10. I was told, 'You must have a Work Permit to buy a motorbike under your name!' when I bought it. It was alright, though, because I had one then.
  11. Good evening, Thanks very much for your responses! Do you have a Non-B with a WP or Non-O on you now? I bought it for 19kB 3.5yrs ago. To tell you the truth, I'd like to sell it in Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan (not now, though), because I want to drive it all the way up there from Phuket.
  12. Hi All, I have a motorbike (Yamaha Nouvo 135cc / 12yrs old), have a green book with my name as owner in it and a Phuket registration plate for the bike. I'm going to leave Thailand in a month or two, and I'd like to sell it not in Phuket but in Prachuap Khiri Khan. Can I ask you what I should do to sell my motorbike in another province and what documents I'll need to get or sign for that? I won't mind going to the DLT in Phuket or Prachuap Khiri Khan (in Pranburi, I believe) to collect forms to transfer registration. I wouldn't mind deregistering (or scrapping) it as a last resort, so can I ask you how I can do that? Thank you in advance!
  13. Hi all, I was a bit surprised by the refusal of a SETV because I thought that the Thai Consulate in Savannakhet would be one of the lenient.. FYI, I just made my 3rd visa-exempt entry into Thailand last week, and I didn't have any problem with that. I did all my 3 visa- exempt entries into Thailand via Padang Besar in Southern Thailand but I always spent at least 1 night in Malaysia before coming back to Thailand to stay on the safe side.
  14. Maybe you'd try some branches from different banks in BKK. You might be lucky to find one that would allow you to open a bank account as a tourist!
  15. Hi, Just give your WP back to your school and fly out of Thailand. There should be no problem! You'll probably be told by the IO that your Non-B will be automatically cancelled if you fly out of the country without a re-entry permit. And you shouldn't leave the country by land, because you'll probably be asked by the IO to show the termination letter from your school.
  16. Hi, I answered HER (not HIS) questions like 'I quit my job last year but have still been staying in the same place.' Yes, I've also heard of stories that they could open a bank account at a branch in BKK as a tourist.
  17. I've also heard of reports that you must spend at least 1 night in Malaysia before coming back to Thailand on visa-exemption (better to stay there for a few nights). That's the reason I decided to spend 1 night in Padang Besar on the Malaysian side, not to come back to Thailand from Malaysia on the same day, to stay on the safe side. There have actually been so many reports of having to pay a bribe to leave and come back to Thailand on the same day through Wang Prachan. Some are reported to have been asked to pay 1,300B or 1,500B, and others 2,000B, with kids for nothing. As for the bank app, no tourist will be allowed to open a bank account in Thailand so you can forget about that. Cheers
  18. Hi All, Thanks very much for your comments! Yes, I wanted to share my experience with those who are interested in doing a border bounce. I do know it'll be much easier to fly but you'll then be very likely to be asked to show an onward ticket when flying back to Thailand. Ranong is much closer to Phuket than Padang Besar is, but I've heard that the Immigration up there has been strict because they do know that those who leave Thailand are coming straight back to The Kingdom from Myanmar on visa- exemption (if they don't have a re-entry permit on them.) The reason I mentioned that I wasn't asked by the IO to show an onward ticket is I've heard of reports of having been asked to when coming back to Thailand from Cambodia through the notorious land crossing of Poipet! And I was ready to show the balance on app that I had more than 20kB in my Thai bank account. Lastly, I nearly forgot to tell you that when I left Thailand the IO disappeared into the office from his kiosk with my passport in his hand. He didn't tell me anything or write anything in my passport, though. What a nerve-wracking moment! 555
  19. Hi All, I'd like to share it with you how I did a 'Border Bounce' to Padang Besar from Phuket. 1. Phuket to Hat Yai I took a night bus leaving Phuket Bus Terminal 2 (New Bus Terminal) at around 10pm, arriving at Hat Yai Bus Terminal around 5am the next day. There are at least three bus companies running between Phuket and Hat Yai, and I paid around 400B for a ticket. If you should take the 1st bus in the morning, you'll probably get all the way to Padang Besar in the evening, though. 2. Hat Yai to Padang Besar You can hop on the mini-van at Hat Yai Bus Terminal (where you arrive from Phuket) for Padang Besar (60B / 1hr), but I walked to Hat Yai Railway Station (2km) to catch the train at 7:40am to Padang Besar Railway Station on the Malaysian side (50B / 50min). I just wanted to clear immigration in the railway station out of curiosity, though. 3. 1 night stay in Padang Besar I stayed at one of the places in Padang Besar on the Malaysian side. It actually was Ramadan right then (it still is for the next 3 weeks), so all the restaurants were closed from sunrise to sunset, except some Chinese restaurants that were open in the morning. 4. Passport control both at Malaysian and Thai Immigration I walked through Malaysian Immigration and then Thai Immigration at Padang Besar. There was no problem going through Immigration on the Malaysia side. And I walked up the road to Immigration on the Thai side. Yes, I had to go to the office (not to a kiosk to hand over my passport to the IO), where the officer was waiting for me, and started to talk to me about my last job I had on my Non-B visa, and then asked me these questions. a. Don't you have a visa to enter Thailand this time? b. Where are you going and staying? c. What are you going to do? I answered the questions (in Thai) before I got stamped in no problem. This is actually my 3rd visa-exempt entry into Thailand since my last Non-B expired last year but is my very 1st one in this calendar year. I wasn't even asked to show 20kB cash, let alone an onward ticket out of The Kingdom. 5. The Thai Immigration to the mini-van station I walked to the mini-van station from the Immigration Complex (1.5km / 20mins). A bike taxi should cost 50B. 6. Mini-van station at Padang Besar to Hat Yai It cost 60B and took 50mins. 7. Hat Yai back to Phuket I got to Hat Yai Bus Terminal past 10am and was going to take a 11:45am bus back to Phuket but they said that there was no 11:45am bus running on that day (there wouldn't be enough passengers. I'm not sure) so I had to wait for a 1pm bus. And I got back to Phuket 8 hours later. Again, there are some other bus companies operating between Hat Yai and Phuket. I hope that helps.
  20. Hi, Maybe you'd try to come back to Thailand from VN via Laos by land. There should be an international bus from Da Nang in VN to Savannakhet in Laos, and then you could re-enter Thailand through Mukdahan. I did do the reverse 12 years ago, though.
  21. You'll have to go to the office (not to a kiosk) if you go through Padang Besar, so you'd get ready for at least a few questions to be asked by the IO then. Good luck!
  22. Hi, Last year I left Thailand after having a 1-year extension of my Non-B and came back to The Kingdom by land a few weeks later no problem! I'd say that you can get 45 days for your visa-exempt entry by 31 March 2023. Hope that helps.
  23. I do hope you make it on your connecting flights at DMK! Fingers Crossed!!
  24. Is the course by St. Theresa an on-site one, not an on-line one?
  25. WOW, that's great news! I do hope that The Ranong - Kawthaung Crossing reopens soon, too!
