I'm 72 years old. I was in great health until last April when I snapped my tibia in 2 and also my fibia. Surgery and a metal plate have mended the bone.

I sat in a wheelchair for 3 months

I've used a, walker or cane for 6 weeks... But my back is hurting a lot

My problem now is I have no core body strength. My physio has recommended I see a doc that suggests peptide therapy. I'm reluctant but curious..

Has anyone taken any peptides for a similar reason? Comments?

    Thanks

After breaking my hip ( i was 70 )  I could hardly move after the surgery (metal rod ) .

But,  the first week or two was the hardest .   I could manage to get to the bathroom using a walker. Very slowly and tediously .  Then slowly the pain subsided to where i could get around the house. But,  very limited and it was about a month before i ventured out for short and very slow "walks" with the walker .    Did not even attempt using just a cane for about 6 weeks.

The key for me, i think,  was that I DID NOT PUSH THINGS .   It is tempting,  and some people advocate that,  but i do not recommend it.    Doing exercise often..... for short intervals.... and not strenuous worked for me.   After 3 months when the xrays showed i was 85% healed , or so, then i did longer walks .... without the cane ,  After 5 months i was able to walk fairly well and up to 4 km,  still a slow pace .  And i still felt a bit sore but not PAIN ...... for over a year .

my advice :  just walk, walk, walk  ( or stationary bike) .   I now have a treadmill as the even pace and level position puts less strain on my body .  My back does hurt sometimes but has on and off for a long time.  Even doctors will say :  everyone is different .  meaning, every body is different.

IMO .....after 70 , even those of us who were "FIT" .. eventually start to listen to what hurts and compensate .  And we should know what works and what doesn't .

i take supplements ( magnesium and c and d ..etc)  ..... but personally not interested in peptides .

I have seen it all in my 17 years of working with Thai lawyers. I have seen fake Chanotte documents, counterfeit signatures, properties that are not in the name of the wife but the mother, malicious transfers to family members, mortgages or sales with rights of redemption (Kaifak) registered without the spouse's consent, and much more.

Can i have your permission to use those words of yours ?    It will be very useful for me to use on this forum ,  and by adapting it to fit many scenarios , especially "debates"  from members here professing to know the exact truth ...... it will come in handy .

Oh, btw..... please put the permission in writing,  2 copies of each page,  your mother-in-laws maiden name..... and zodiac sign.    Thank you (in advance)    Rumak

i have some new advice ( i used to go to baking soda as well .... before :::)

i saw some videos about Apple Cider vinegar AND .......gerd, etc...... .

My links probably not welcome here ,  but i can pm anyone interested.

A google search for ACV  ...you tube....Dr Berg ..... and others....

if one wants to check by themself

And.... the informative videos by some Dr's  , regarding Apple Cider Vinegar make it very clear that the problem is not too much acid in the stomach.   Also there are explanations as to why the "acid refux" is most likely happenning .  ( food not digesting properly) .

Glad that someone else mentioned the "not too much acid"  misconception.

what strikes me about your post is, what are you doing in Thailand? Nothing wrong with choosing a new country from the one you were born in?. This is the 3rd country my wife and I moved to. Simple reasons: fell in love with the people, the food, the lack of regulations (compared to Canada). One country we choose was Mexico, learned the basic language, loved the culture and food. But instinctively, we knew that our personal safely would always be at risk (especially if one got mistaken for an American).  it was  But there has got to be a number of compelling reasons reasons to move. One think I never understand, is, if you choose to live with a Thai girlfriend, or marry, it is difficult to understand why you wouldn't bother to learn Thai and integrate.?  what is the point of planning a life for a life long relationship, if you cannot communicate properly. ?

My gf can speak both Thai and English .    The problem is ............. her sentences contain an equal amount of each language .

Most well researched and funded studies draw a singular and VERY important conclusion: THC or CBD alone has not shown the reported efficacy as compared to THC+CBD in concert.

Thank you for your feedback .   The links you supplied are similar to a few others.... pretty much govt. narrative and mostly with the analysis of : " some studies have shown some relief, but not enough is known and one must always be careful of the risks ....... etc.   Be sure to seek "professional advice ..."

OK .    Yes,  i am someone who does my own research ,  seeking different "opinions"  and user reviews (which are often very helpful when they are from non=affiliated individuals with no agenda) .

Then,  after making an initial decision I can do the  "trial and compare method"  ..... which after all fits into the idea that different people will have different results.    At this point i only have thc oil from the local govt hospital , and only taken 3 nights so far.  It does help as i wake up less stiff and with less pain ...... but surely a few days is not enough time yet to see better results .

I have a "feeling" that the quote referring to the advantages (and results)  of using THC and CBD in concert are important ......... and at this time am looking for the right product .   Sundara gets good reviews BUT  i only see that they sell CBD oil .... not a combination .  I will send them an inquiry now.

I am guessing that i can just buy CBD  and  THC  seperately to ingest ...... not needing a product that has both already.   (yes?)

Like any self directed research ..... the field is large and choosing correctly is a challenge .  Not always a recipe for success ,   but , nowadays more than ever I place a lot more emphasis and trust in my brains ability to seperate the facts from the propaganda/ narrative/ establisment goals of the medical industry .   ( in this type of endeavor..... everyone's success in maintaining true health will vary )

I’m happy, in so many ways, that it’s your last comment but it’s not mine.

You’re right, I could call myself anything I want on this forum (Princess? Buffy?)  and it doesn’t make it real, only in my real life. I don’t need to flaunt pedigree degrees to mouth breathers to influence their thoughts, I have clients that pay me for what I say on this forum for free.

FYI, my first choice was to call myself an astronaut or a rocket scientist but that would be lying? BTW, you think I make up this stuff? A wow!

The article that “clearly” showed your point, was done on proprietary company equipment by the company’s researcher. They are selling IP, you didn’t catch that, huh?

And, you clearly didn’t get the YouTube video either. Brought to you by the “leading cannabis research company” with 27K followers. Never read that study. Never heard of the stoned fella on the video either. Seems hardly credible.

Funny thing, you require “well researched studies” from me but show me drivel to make YOUR point?

The science I quote is by Drs. Bruce Bugbee, Westmoreland, D. Fernandez, Langenfeld, et al and the group of post grad researchers at USU, crop physiology lab. I’m sure you never heard of them, why would you? Do you want me to provide their academic pedigree too?

What I stated about terpenes is real and factual.

Here’s my last comment: two pain studies with CBD. NIH and JAMA. The placebo won out over the CBD in both. Yes, not a sleep study but meaningful. And, since the evidence is soooo necessary, here tis’ (well researched studies….????)

    https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34223660/

    https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamanetworkopen/fullarticle/2799017

There is  your “hard science that says it doesn’t work”

I realize, people can get their butt hurt when they hear something that tears down their belief system.

I don’t need to prove anything to anyone here. It’s a forum. Need proof? YOU do the research, but just don’t stop on the first unvetted Google search that parrots what you heard on the net in the first place - one that’s brought to you by the highest pay per click SEO. Just keep it real. And please, can we kiss and make up? ????

One of the best replies on this forum for a very long time ............. since i have stopped "debating" with those who have opposite views to mine and do the usual insult , show me the facts,  those sources are not their accepted sources ,  etd .

Very well written ....   Do you hire out to write similar responses ,  as I could probably use your services .    ????

edit :  btw..... i have increasing pain this year from what is usually called "osteoporosis" .   Whatever,   my lower back , neck,  and other areas are stiff,  in pain,     Yesterday went to govt clinic  and they gave me what they call thc oil ( ganja oil on the box) .   Told me to take 5 drops before bed .   Last night first time .... and i slept better and woke up with just a bit of a stiff neck , but otherwise my body was much better than previously .  ( no placebo effect  ????

Any link to an article you can suggest ( simpler the better)  that explains what is thought to be why thc has this effect on painful joints and muscles would be greatly appreciated .

When i was young i was quite a druggy  haha .   That was a long time ago, so i have some catching up to do.   This might save my quality of life !

    thanks.....rumak

Indica 15-20%THC works best for my arthritis.

Pain totally gone, joints returned to normal size, strength regained.

Smoke 0.5gm just before bed and you won't feel any high.

If it has 'punch' in the name it'll probably work (Tropical Punch, Critical Orange Punch).

If it has 'kush' in the name it probably won't work (Lemon Kush).

    Sativa does nothing for me.

BM2 ....... Where (exactly if possible) in CM area do you buy ( smoke means you are buying some form of the plant, right ?)

Also,  taking at night will keep the pain down during the day as well ?

Is it not possible to get the THC  in the oil form ...... so that i can just swallow it ?

    thanks...rumak

So when you are in Issan with your mat and small drawer what then? Become a buddhist or something. I have posted this before on the god topic from The Onion. Something to consider.

When I think back to my time on earth, I have few regrets. The path I took, the simple life of a monk, allowed me to achieve the highest state of enlightenment. As one who renounced worldly attachments, I was free to lead a contemplative existence and to then share my wisdom with others. That said, I have to admit that if I were to do it all over again, I would probably choose to have at least a few possessions.

Not too many, of course. Maybe 10 possessions—20, tops.

To be sure, desiring earthly possessions only binds one to this life, and all beings must free themselves from the shackles of materialism to reach nirvana. That’s why, if I were to have a few belongings, I’d limit them to just some essentials: a fan, perhaps, to cool myself with, or a candle, so I could continue my study of ancient texts when the sun goes down. It’s not as if owning a candle would’ve halted my spiritual awakening. How could it? It’s just a candle, right?

I’ve always said that it is not objects themselves but our unwavering devotion to them that stands in the way of karmic progress and, ultimately, true awakening. With that in mind, I can’t help but wonder if it really would’ve been such a big deal if I’d had a pen or two to write with—not coveting pens or obsessing over them or anything like that, just having a reliable writing implement that’s great for copying down spiritual insights. If I lost the pen, I’d be absolutely fine with that, but there’s nothing about being liberated from the stranglehold of temporal attachment that says I shouldn’t be able to make a mark on a piece of paper.

And come to think of it, a canteen would’ve been a huge help. I probably would’ve attained perfect enlightenment sooner—a lot sooner—if I hadn’t had to stop meditating beneath the Bodhi tree and walk to the river Niranjana every single time I got thirsty.

I understand, perhaps better than anyone, how vital meditation is to finding the freedom that awaits us at the end of the eightfold path. And you know what would’ve made meditating a hell of a lot easier? A tent. Nothing big or ornate, just a humble cloth shelter to help keep the rain and wind off my body. It’s not as though a tent would’ve stopped me from teaching my disciples to forsake earthly things. I would just say, “Dispossess yourself of all things, except a tent. And maybe a blanket.” Pillows, an obvious worldly luxury, would be forbidden.

Oh, you know what else would’ve been great? A tea kettle. I would have killed for a tea kettle.

A sweater or a jacket really wouldn’t have been the end of the world either, and there’s also a lot to be said for a decent pair of shoes. And what harm would there have been in having, say, a flute? It’d be nice to unwind with some music at the end of a long day of rigorous reflection. Again, I’m talking about very modest possessions here. Nothing you couldn’t easily fit in a satchel, which, yes, would’ve been nifty as well.

How about a little carving of a monkey? Honestly, I think it would’ve been fun to have had that to look at from time to time—a wooden one, nothing carved from precious stones or anything. I can’t imagine not being able to break free from the eternal cycle of death and rebirth because of a tiny monkey figurine, can you?

If I’m being completely honest, it’s not just the lack of possessions I regret. I also probably spent way too much of my time on earth meditating. Just sitting there on the hard ground doing nothing but pondering the infinite day after day when there are so many wonderful things to see and do in the world. I could’ve meditated just once a week and probably been perfectly fine. What a waste. I lived 80 years, and frankly, I blew it. I should have just tried to enjoy myself.

Life is yin and yang .   I guess you are the yin to my yang  (so take comfort in that ).

I spent my whole life doing and moving and being free.   Having things and getting rid of things and generally just living.   Tried to get as much experience , mistakes and all (learning process) .... so that now i can die and not have to rely on a reincarnation to give me a second chance.

You now have to the US Gov't's secure payment site to pay the $130 for the passport. A bank draft is still needed for the return postage.

This info came out several months ago, when, apparently, they got tired of revising how much baht on the bank draft equated to $130; easier just to require the payment in dollars.

So........ MUST  be payed online then,  right ?    or ??    Do you have the link for the secure payment site?

  10. 37 minutes ago, skatewash said:

Your preference is allowed and detailed directions are given as to how to obtain the required bank draft from Bangkok Bank, including a printout in Thai that explains to the cashier exactly what you need.  You need to pay with your application.  Online payment is also accepted.  You will need two (2) bank drafts from Bangkok Bank, one for the cost of the passport itself and one for the cost of the the return envelope and postage.  Again, very detailed directions are given at the US Embassy Bangkok site (unfortunately, down at this instant):|

    https://th.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/passports/

Thanks.... but the only info I can find (none about the bank draft for passport)  is this

    Step 6:  Pay

On-line Payment only available in USD

Pay the $130 passport application fee via the U.S. government’s secure payment site. When click Continue to the Form; please select Thailand at Country field. After successfully paying the fee, you must print out the electronic payment confirmation you receive via email and include it in the package you send to the U.S. Embassy Bangkok.

Maybe its me..... just can't find the info you mention ( though i think it is correct).    Any direction to where the info is would be appreciated.

edit :  i did find the info and bank instructions.  but every time i try to find it again i can't seem to.   i have downloaded the instructions already..... but still drives me nuts how difficult it is to find
