How can the Thai Bahts keep its exchange rate against most of the world (US excepted) high up in the sky when the Thai export is falling drastically? I worked for uk police for 12 yrs as a civvy

All ok at first but then things change

I was being asked to lose letters, change dates - not good & I wouldn't do it

Funny you should mention that, 'cos I was on the receiving end of the changing dates scam.

During a complaint I had against the UK police, they would always put 'no reply in 14 days and your complaint is terminated'.

Then they sent some letters dated 14 days before they even posted them. So we couldn't reply in the required time frame.

Luckily my brief was wise to that trick, and kept all envelopes stapled to the letters.

Of course they claimed admin errors.

They also dismissed a civilian dispatcher in the emergency calls room, for mis-recording details of an incoming emergency call leading to my false arrest (escalating a minor complaint to a major incident). Funny that the emergency caller, the dispatcher and myself all had the same details, only the officers sent to the scene had different details. Guess they decided to sacrifice the weakest link (which luckily wasn't me).

Don't understand you say the dispatcher was sacked for missing recording details yes. When a call comes in on 999 it is automatically recorded and date/time/tagged so if the dispatcher altered his log he would be a silly person cross checking is easily done and if a complaint comes in that's the very first thing that is checked.

May I ask please once you have visa and have been in for say 86 days you go for 60 day extension. My question is does the 60 day start on the day you get it or the day after the 90 days expires

Wow was she right. Didn't cost much in the first place so even if we use it for a week it's well worth it

It's a good solution but am curious, where did you manage to find a wood burner in Thailand?

Can't buy them in Thailand so I'm told the wifes uncle made the one we have for us a very very basic design using an old oil drum and some iron inserts flue was easy aluminium drilled through wall and mounted to top of oil drum. I wouldn't put loads of wood in at a time but it works lovley and takes the chill of while not over hot. I've ordered some wood pellets today should be here tm apparently they burn well will see. By the way it doesn't look at all bad painted up in black heat resistant paint.

I have found a Web site on windows which allows me to watch what is known in uk as free to view ie bbc 1234 itv1234 chanel 4 and it's variety and 5 plus variants and film 4 and a good few others. Yes it's live ish so middle of night here but I just record the programs I want to srr on a flash drive then hook up laptop to tv whenever I want to watch. Or put flash drive into TV but I find it a better picture via laptop Web site is called film on Tv

My wife is a dentist in a govt hospital and laughed at this comment. She does root canal treatment everyday and it takes longer than 10min and NO they dont get turned away. Thats a load of B.S

Not all English teachers in Thai schools are illiterate. The wifes mother is one and she speaks very good English.

Again, a poster, another TVF member with an educated wife who has got such a noble profession being a dentist at a government hospital !!!

I don't believe your post, because it's a fact that the government hospitals only have 10 minutes per patient, root canals are not done under the 30 baht scheme and "special dentists", also called Endodontists are needed to get such a difficult job done.

And even in much more civilized countries can things go terribly wrong. It happened to me in Europe and I was 6 months in total pain.....

These "special dentists need two, or three more years of education than an ordinary dentist to understand the whole procedures, they are not just dentists. Your wife seems to be a super hero, a dentist who does root canals every day, no other dentist at a Thai government hospital does. Impressive.

Please tell your wife that I was laughing about her. Most of them get turned away, but people like your wife ( but I have my doubts that she's a real dentist, too many points just don't fit here) give them their address of their private clinic to get this done.

BTW, not all clinics can do a root canal treatment, it's a procedure that can't be done in one day. Is it possible that you don't really know what a root canal treatment consists of?

You can have an extraction, but not anything that takes longer. Even with the Thai SS insurance, not the 30 baht scheme.

Of course are there exceptions, people who're related to your wife and people who pay your wife, not the hospital.

no offence to you OP but you are weird. Majority of root canals can be done by a competent general practitioner dentist and not by a specialist. Its a relatively easy procedure according to my wife. My point was that this isn't done at a government hospital on the 30 baht scheme. My dentist, an experienced older woman in Sisaket city doesn't do root canals and she told me why. She worlds daytime at the Sisaket hospital and has 10 minutes for each patient.

What can be done and what is actually done at a government hospital are completely different scenarios.
