  1. Your rant was quite entertaining why did you call the thread thai police V UK police when clearly all you wanted to do was slag the Met Police off. Makes me wonder if something happened to yourself by the Met Police. Which by the way I was proud member of for 15 years after serving my time in HM Forces. But to answer your question impossible to compare the two forces both are police and that's about as far as it goes. Bit like asking to compare atila the hun to pope John Paul.

  2. And what does the Thai government say about all this? Evidently nothing. What would they say if American or European government did the same?
Did what? There is no evidence he was abducted. It's just the last place he was seen.. Who was he seen by?

Of course he was abducted. What else could have reasonably happened? China is forever extending its iron fist to stifle dissent. They sent undercover tough guys over, found the guy, and forcefully took him back to China. In a more civilized country, border guards or other officials would interfere/intervene to protect a person from being kidnapped. In Thailand, it's a mai pen rai because, Buddha forbid, we never ever want to do or say anything which may cause a Chinese official to lose face.

I just read a narrative, true story, about a BBC reporter who was in Beijing, blocks for Tianamen Square, when the shit hit the fan, years ago. She said many trucks filled with Chinese soldiers (trucked in from far away, so they would have no compassion for locals) - the soldiers were standing in rows in the back of the trucks, picking off anybody (locals, kids, students) with their automatic weapons. The politburo are a mean bunch of cold-blooded bastards. They told the soldiers they were going to Beijing to battle insurgents. Even houses and apartments were sprayed with bullets, killing and maiming many ordinary people inside. Within minutes, the hospitals were filled to overflowing. That couldn't have happened in Europe or N.America. China is run by some mean-spirited paranoid old men with freon for blood.

A true story!!!! Why because it says BBC reporter. What happened was an outrage but the story you relate to is/was to whip up hysteria in the west business troops in from remote areas Yeh right oh.

First off, BBC is reliable. Secondly, I don't know if my proposed scenario is true. But I do know quite a bit about Chinese officials, and how they're hyper-paranoid and have enacted such silent abductions numerous times. Read up on recent abductions in HK of people who were running a book store there. Become aware of what's going on.

Secondly the BBC is not reliable at all never has been it's a goverment of the day mouth piece it can never be neutral as it paid for by the population but mostly via the government. Thirdly I was commenting on the so called troops from another place bit you quoted. I know China will do whatever it takes for her country right or wrong I'm not commenting on that one not my place to do so. I need not become aware as half no three quaters of what you read is from these do Gooders who will write anything to brain wash people into feeling sorry for them or fund them. Yes people go missing in China yes some are abducted and killed but if you don't think that happens in the west you are deluded. China will defend her constitution with all her might only the same as the so called free world
  3. Western countries are accepting millions of asylum seekers, and yet refused this

Seems no poster asked this question except me...

Probably because as I understand it you have to be in a country to claim political asylum, ergo trying to claim political asylum in the west whilst in Thailand is a no go, short of a western goverment giving him permission to enter and stay at there respective embassy here, which I doubt very much would happen.
  4. So far I have never paid any more than a thai would even where it's marked up x for native y for foreigner. I show them my yellow house book and get Thai prices. But if it ever came to having to pay 30 bht or so mire then so be it. Ranting about Unfair/discrimination or ripping us farangs off. Sorry it's a load if monkey nuts. Stop whining and pay.

  6. Its supposed to be good for gout as well, tried it for months ,waste of time

I use it for gout. Do you use the raw non-pasteurized kind, like Bragg's?

I did. To be honest it was useless, although some people swear by it,I now take tablets from the doc. Not had an attack for 1.5 years

Bit like all old remadyies works for some not for others as stated earlier it keeps my cholesterol down and stops the old acid reflux I get with hyetus hernia. So for me it's great.

  7. So they want to start stealing from us before we even enter now. That's smart. Because you have no tourist attractions. Some filthy beaches littered with trash and locals who make you feel unwelcome unless you fork out cash for the use of their beach and restroom. And parking and the list is endless. I guess the visa fees we all pay is stolen then...

Many many other holiday destinations you don't have to come to Thailand.

  8. Went a few months ago to do change of address went armed with TM 28 change of address. TM 30 notification of alien staying in house. All relevant documents and Mrs as it's her house. Got there handed over forms officer asked how we were, and exactly were the house is (just wanted to know for himself nothing to do with process). Looked at both forms gave me back the TM 28 with a not need comment took the TM 30 signed and dated tear recipt at bottom stapled it to passport All done.

  9. Sorry but I don't care about the USA or Switzerland and even less about the Argentines. To get back on topic man shoots 3 dead over parking row !!! I really don't care about innocent or guilt, if he goes to jail so be it, if he walks free having been found not guilty so be it, if he pays and walks so be it. I as you may guess have no opinion either way not my problem not my fight and certainly not my right to judge.

  10. There has been massive layoffs in the E&P industry in Thailand. I'm one them too.

It's a shame there have been so many lay off and I hope you find a new position soon. However the writing has been on the wall for a long time now. The demise of the oil drilling industry is on a way way spiral as alternative fuels will now have a real chance to establish themselves.

  11. Pretty sure you don't need a licence as it's mobility had a look through (quick look) and can't see anything but as it's only up to 15mph or is that 15mph. I would say no licence required and as for helmet I would say up to you me in thailand yes I would. But surley the suppliers of this could and should give you the answers they must know.

  12. I have tried searching I'm sure it here somewhere but I get negative returns on search so if anyone can put a link or give me the answer would be grateful.

Going soon to get a non o based on marriage multi entry I have seen procedures and paper work I need no problems there.

My question is I come in I get 90 days this I know how many days can I extend this 90 days 30 or 60???? And can I do that everytime I get another 90 day entry. Thanks

  13. Expecting high hygiene standards at Thai barber shops is unrealistic. I wish I could say paying a lot more guarantees better, but it doesn't.

It's similar to what goes on in most restaurants here. The awareness and concern is just very low.

I'm afraid I have to agree with you on this.

I go to what we used to call in England, a gentleman barber. He insists that customers remove their shoes when entering his saloon, but he never sweeps away the hair cut from his previous customers and found myself walking bare foot in the hair. On my second visit I wore socks under my shoes. Then he uses a cut throat razor on my sideburns and as yet have not seen him actually put a new blade in his razor handle or ever seen him clean his instruments. He always cuts my hair perfectly after having some dreadful bodge jobs from other barbers, he`s a real professional hairdresser and never rips me off, but his hygiene is practically non existent.

As times I enjoy to go for a foot massage and noticed that the staff never wash their hands when continuing from one customer to another. So if a customer has foot calluses or Hong Kong foot this is going to be spread like wild fire by the hands of the staff. It`s the same when we go for massages and even with dentists I am always hoping that there instruments, especially injections have been properly sterilised. And of course in restaurants, we never really know what goes on in their kitchens. We have our drinking water delivered, yet no one knows where it comes from or if it`s filtered properly.

So far since living in Thailand I`ve been lucky, but how can we be certain that these services are safe practices and if we do before ill or infected from poor hygiene standards, who we gonna call, Ghost busters?

So your barber doesn't run a clean shop yet you go back time after time. Foot massage is Un hygienic yet you still go. You worry about drinking water at restaurants why not order bottled come to think of it I've never been served water in a glass from any restaurant I've used always bottled and sealed. Me thinks you need to look closely at where you go for haircut/massage and food.

Me thinks you better read my post again, it`s not quite as you have interpreted it.

Me thinks you should be more careful where you buy your reading glasses.

I have read your post twice interpretation is the same poor hygiene worried about water worried about foot massage with Un washed hands, quote so far I've been lucky unquote. Was pointing out that you need to change or you may as you put it be unlucky knowing there's a problem and not addressing it is silly

  15. Publicity seemed to fit him fine when he was alive, fair game.

"They also photographed Pors two-year-old daughter Malee at the hospital"

which was a nightly feature on the news. If the family found this so unpleasant, maybe they could have taken some action to prevent the exploitation of their child during those weeks?

And if Thais are really so outraged, maybe they could reserve a little bit of outrage for the Dengue fever epidemic in Thailand, and the apparent incompetence of the authorities and fellow Thais to do anything about it......

Probably it is ok if 600 Thais die - as long as they are not "superstars"

For goodness sake this is about a man's death and a two year old who only wanted to see her dad everyday. She was not fair game for the press as for turning his death into some sort of its the Thai goverment fault is another thread surley a little compassion for his family.

  16. My Mrs is a hair stylist her shop is always clean as are her equipment it's not hard if anywhere you go is dirty do as we do go somewhere else.

Makes me wonder if the hygiene standards in the beauty shops servicing women aren't better than the men's shops.

Mrs runs a unisex salon admitted mostly women but especially weekends a fair few men/boys come in she rekons the teenage boys are more fussy about there hair than women but I digress.
