  1. Sorry. I didn't mention that I had to fill in a TM.7.and pay 1,900 Baht. I think everyone must fill in one of these no matter what kind of extended stay. And I failed to mention that I had to pick up my passport and extension the next day. Sorry about leaving these details out. And the letter from the US Embassy was $1,700.

    WOW !

    $1,700 for a letter ?

Those Americans sure know how to make money !

Not as much as those Brits - whose Embassy income letters cost 2,440 THB!

But you do get a full page letter for that price - as I assume Americans do as well. It has always been a source of considerable mystery to me as to why those who moan about the cost of an Embassy letter never seem to complain in equal measure about the 1,900 THB they are expected to shell out for a measly half-page extension stamp in their passports!.

    $1,700 = 56100 Bht smile.png

Seems the Brits are being let off lightly as 2440 Bht equates to approx $73 !

  2. I use Chrome and for me the IE spoofers didn't work.

Using the spoofer, the whole site was jumpy and sluggish.

I managed to get through to the first page but the security code at the bottom of the page didn't seem to register even though it was correct.

On a further attempt (of many), the code was accepted but I was faced by a blank screen and the second page never appeared.

Only when I changed browser to Internet Explorer, after getting round the security warning, was I able to complete both pages and get the Pending screen.

However, there was a problem when I clicked the link to print the page, the security warning would not allow printing. I had to save to my computer then open in order to print.

A bit of a fiddle to complete the process compared with the previous successful report where the IE spoofer worked.

I have the IE Tab extension installed on Chrome and it work great. See: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/search/ie%20tab?hl=en-US

What's the exact name of the extension?

    Try this

  4. Basically,

My current extension ends Aug 4th. I have another valid 60 entry BUT, I have to leave Aug 15th for a 1 week trip.

Ideally, I want to fly out before Aug 4th, re enter with a 30 day visa exempt, fly out on the 15th and use my second entry in tourist visa when I arrive after my trip.

I think the answer is that the officer will notice my current tourist visa and therefore use that. My real question is can you "save" an entry, but I guess you can never hold a tourist visa and be issued a visa exemption on arrival.

What you are wishing is very unlikely to occur but you could always ask the Immigration Officer.

  5. I asked for exactly that from my new employer but they said they cannot do it??? They told me I must change to a tourist visa first?

honestly they are talking rubbish...they can give you the paper work for the B visa, no need to get a tourist visa first

It is highly likely there is no prepared paperwork.

The instruction to obtain a TV is a time buying tactic at best .............

  6. That may be but im really talking about what others call excempt, as it seems. In my whole 10 years of going to Thailand now, living here, working here and what not, i always been told that i got a "visa-on-arrival" if i didnt make a Tourist-Visa (or something else) beforehand.

German institutions call it visa-on-arrival even its not a visa on arrival. I mean the 30 day intial thing that one gets if he didnt do anything before. Just arriving at Aiport Bkk. And not only german institutions. I think also Thailand itself calls it like this on various signs around the country.

There seems to be alot of confusion because its the authorities that call it wrong.

Usually not a good idea to rely on unofficial, commercial web sites for information ....................

If you check very carefully that link you provide has no association with the "Authorities" but it does succeed in providing incorrect and misleading information.

Here is a link to the Thai Ministry Of Foreign Affairs which details the various visa optons
