  1. Are you sure?

Because it is a one year visa (365 days)

I entered the first time on 17th August 2014. Doesn't it mean that the visa expires on 17th August 2015?

I really don't want to pay overstay fee!!!

How did you manage to get an ED visa with a one year expiry date??? ED visa's expire 3 months after the date you apply for it.

It is possible in some countries to secure, with the correct documentation, a one year multiple entry ED visa.

Such a visa is not available within he region s far as I am aware.

  2. You have permission to stay until 12 OCt 2015. It is entirely possible that, with the correct paperwork , supplied by the university, that the immigration service would extend that permission to stay until you graduate.

If you wish to leave the country for a few days prior to 12 Oct you must obtain a re-entry permit from immigration. The re-entry permit will allow you to re-enter Thailand with your permission to stay date intact .

  3. Can I change from a 30 day holiday entry permit from Aus to a Non O visa then onto a retirement extension ?

I am telling you can't be done you have to go back home to Australia and do the retirement extension I tried last year and had to go back home to Australia and do it and it is not that hard to do in Australia cheers all the best

    Wrong

Extensions of stay can only be obtained by those who qualify and only in Thailand !

Ubonjoe has detailed how the required Non O visa conversion can be made.

  4. Visas cannot be obtained at the border. A single entry Tourist Visa can be obtained from the Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh.

Arriving at the border without a VISA will result , if you qualify , in a 15 or 30 day visa exempt entry being granted, depending on your country of origin.

If you care to look the visa expires on 03.08.02015 !

Staying beyond 12 Oct 2015 (The permission to stay date) will incur an overstay fine of 500 Bht/day

  6. This is from Siam Legal's page: (http://www.siam-legal.com/thailand-visa/Thailand-Marriage-Visa.php)

    • Bank Account

The marriage visa is valid for a year and can be renewed by presenting the same requirements during the initial application. Please note that the required amount of funds in your bank account must be at least 3 months old before your can renew your visa.

And from an old thread I pulled the attached PDF about extending. Hopefully this is all just old info and 2 months works!

Commercial web sites should never be relied upon to provide accurate information. Most of these sites are awash with bad advice and misinformation. The link provided is a good example.

    Edit !

There is no one year "marriage visa" which can be obtained in Thailand smile.png

  7. So traveling with both passports is all one needs going out of Thailand, is it the same coming back in? I will be getting a new passport in Canada so my 1year visa will be (by the time I return to Thailand) in my expired passport. Will I be fine just showing both upon entry?

IF you have a valid VISA in an expired/cancelled passport then using both passports will be required to secure entry to the country.

  8. If you have a visa there is no need to transfer anything. You can just show both passports on departure from the country when you leave to get a new one. Visas are not transferred.

Only extensions of stay are transferred.. If you are on an extension you could do the stamp transfer and your extension during the same trip to immigration,

So are you saying even though the old passport corner is cut i can juts go to border and they will stamp out in the new passport if i showe them EOS?

Try reading what ubonjoe actually wrote !

  9. I believe you intend arriving in Thailand without a visa which means you will be given a 30 day visa exempt entry which can be extended at an immigration office for 1900b Bht.

Once in Thailand your best option would be be to obtain a one year multiple entry visa based on marriage from Savannakhet, Laos, for which no financial proof is needed.

Once you have resolved the financial situation an application for a one year extension of stay can be made toward the end of any 90 day entry which the visa will permit.
