Doubt that you actually have a visa . Your extension of stay will end on the day when your employment finishes. You can apply for a 7 day extension at a cost of 1900 Bht at the immigration office.
I think you will need to obtain an Non O visa on the basis of marriage at a Thai Embassy /consulate and then apply for a extension of stay , based on marriage, during the last 30 days of the 90 day stay the O visa will provide.
You can, of course , ask immigration if they will change the reason for your extension of stay but you may have difficulty as there is not much time.

Maybe I have to go to Savannaket on next October. If I will go with my 8 and 10 years old sons, the embassy can give the same visa to them?
I am married to a thai and she is the mother.
I ask that because I have read on the form about the children.
Thai children are in no need of visas

I have never used the "services" of a hotel/guest house to obtain a visa but have heard others speak well of such services.
You will apply for the visa in the AM on day one and collect your passport in the early PM of day 2.

Both are reliable as long as the requirements are met. Obtaining an "O" visa on the basis of being over 50 is easy.
From a personal viewpoint I like Penang but I live in the south of Thailand !

Option 2 would be the best but you would need to able to demonstrate 800K before the visa would be issued.
Yes, I plan to have the funds in the bank and a letter before I go.
Is it straight forward at Penang, or would somewhere else be better?
BTW if anyone knows the process + a reasonable place to stay it would be appreciated.
If you are in Chiang Mia then Vientiane, Laos may be a good choice of place to obtain the visa .

The IO was probably only interested in ensuring that there was , in fact, money being bought into Thailand.
Stat Decs are easily made but those who make them should always be prepared to provide evidence which will support what is claimed.

...Which makes me wonder, is it sure it's possible to go for the 90 day visa runs (non immigrant O multiple entry in and out from Malaysian border) while I am employed with a work permit? Is it a guaranteed 90 day re-entry? Or does having a workpermit and employment complicate things? As I originally came here on a non-immigrant O Spouse visa.
If you have a valid multi-entry Non O visa then making a border run for another 90 day entry will cause no difficulty

Thanks for the replies so far, updating my info here.
My wife only has a Thai passport so that's what she used when she entered Thailand. I still have to create an account in Thailand (Im in the process of getting the work permit which all banks I contacted seem to need me to have the workpermit ready before I can open an account). I should have the workpermit soon if all goes well. So it means I may have to do a 90 day run first before going for the 1year spouse extension, that is if they're going to be very strict about the 2-month period of having 400k in the Thai account.
Me and my wife have separate accounts (she has another Thai account).
We married back in Europe 4 years ago and we have all marriage certifications/required documentation ready, professionally translated and legalized, but haven't finalized registration yet at Ampur about this, only fixed the surname-change so far at Ampur.
They will be strict about the period of time the 400K is in the bank.

Is this fact, fiction or just old fashioned rumour ?
Can you post the notice

If your wife is Thai she needs no visa or extension and she certainly does not have to evidence any finance.
An extension of stay based on marriage is easy to obtain with the correct documentation .
Where was this misleading and incorrect advice received ?

You would be best advised to obtain a tourist visa from Vientiane,Laos.
A double entry tourist visa would provide for a stay of almost 6 months with just one border run. Each 60 day entry the visa provides can be extended at a cost of 1900 Bht at an immigration office.
-
If you wish to obtain a new Non O multi-entry visa on the basis of marriage this can only be done in Laos
If your visa is valid you will receive a 90 day permission to stay when returning.

Okay, this is great!......Now who is KL?
KL = Kuala Lumpur the Capital of Malaysia
-
If you have an O/A visa that will allow a one year "permission" to stay. Because the vsa is multi-entry you may come and go freely whilst the visa remains valid. Each entry to the country during the period of validity will result in a 12 month permission to stay.
If an exit/re-entry is made just prior to the visa expiring a second year stay can be secured. To travel during this second year a re-entry permit must be applied for at an immigration office.
The visa is valid from the day of issue ----------check the "enter before " date on the visa sticker as this represents the visas expiry date.

Just to clarify .. i wasnt being a pain in their ass .. they say jump, my response is how high ... wasnt aware of the notifying requirements at the time as i have always stayed in hotels or rented a house. I did not argue with the officer. I was quiet and polite and tried to give her an easy day. But every time i did what she asked for she was trying to cause more problems. First visit she said i needed an additional photocopy and bangkok address. Fair enough. I left quietly to go get those. 1 hour later i was up again and had everything she asked for. Then she tried to cause problems with the address and in the end i called my thai friend in to help. After confirming address that still wasnt good enough for the officer, and she wanted us to fill out registration forms, all these postponements .. started at 1pm after their lunch, was done about 20 minites before they close.
It would seem the majority of people consider this to have been a self inflicted problem .
The IO was entirely correct as Maestro, in post number 18, very ably indicated .

I have now made two successful on line 90 day reports.
The last one being on 20 July 2015 , 15 days prior to my reporting date. An Approval email was received on the same day
" Dear Mr.*****

Both reports are now listed on the website.

Are there specific days you can apply at Savannakhet Laos?
Open Mon - Fri excluding holidays !
-
The Thai language can be studied on a tourist visa. No need for an "Ed" visa or the payment of monies in excess of 1900 Bht for an extension of stay.
-
You have a triple entry tourist visa. Each entry will give you a 60 day "permission to stay" which can be extended , on application to an immigration office, by 30 days at a cost of 1900 Bht.
At the end of each 60+30 day entry you must leave Thailand, enter another country and return to activate another 60 day entry.
Make sure that all three entries are made prior to the visa "use by" date
-
If your friend is over 50 and can meet the financial requirements he will experience no problem in securing an extension of stay based on retirement.
As far as I am aware the Thai immigration act makes no provision for "common law" wives.
Your friends "wife" would have to qualify for her own visa which could be based on retirement if over 50, employment or education. The only other option she would have is tourist visas.
Getting married married would resolve the problem as the lady would then qualify for an extension of stay based on her being a dependent of her husband, assuming he is able to secure a retirement extension.
-
Go to the Chiang Mai immigration office and ask for the errors to be corrected.
-
You can apply for a visa and there is no need to use a company.
Laos would issue a double entry visa.
The only place in the region a triple entry visa is issued is Bali
